Our commodities will now cost too much. It will be cheaper to buy from mining companies based in Africa, South America, Europe ect...

If our mining companies want to keep up sales/profits someone is going to have to take the shortfall, and that will end up being wages.

And....if you don't believe me, think back a few years ago when our dollar hit 90c. BHP said this was bad for Aussie miners. All mining companies will trade better if the dollar was around 80c (this was from BHP).

Also, years ago China expressed concern over the price of our commodities, this is not going to make it any better.

Aussies seem to forget that there are other mines in the world and the buyer can go anywhere.

Damo I think BHP will be fine.

i think that aud usd ,, have still more north way to come ,,, the resistance has been broken ,, it was steep correction before the break out ,,,now you can use fiboonacci target extension for my opinion

Wish I would have followed my own advice. Looking for this thing to easily target 1.01 then possibly to the R1 @ 1.017. I will be looking for a short if we get around there.

Making fresh highs for the week, looking very bullish. Possible bounce at 1.0100 / weekly R2 1.0130.

AUD/USD M5 (01/11-05/11)

i am new in trading but i think,its very obvious what is happening...
1)everyone believed that the market had priced in the rumor of fed news so there would not be much difference...wrong...
2)the all time high psycological level of 1 to 1 was very strong....again wrong....

and now many people are short(including me) waiting for the big boys to take the money...hehehe clever...

Not short yet, Price Action says its going much higher.

Hi mate, maybe the long term, but for now is hard to tell, market is still digesting the stimulas package. The effect you want it to be happen, might not be this year... hard to say, maybe this year, the market will show their true card... nevertheless, market is in the mess now....

If gold breaks resistance @ 1366 it will off to the races for AUD. Gold will double top @ 1387 let AUD follow and take a short there with barely any risk at all and all the downside in the world. Targeting 1.0150 now.

It's risk aversion. If you're perceiving US data as being USD positive when the data itself is positive, then you're removing the element of risk aversion. Investors are only going back into the USD in order to reduce risk or payoff debts in USD.

Why would you hold USD for 0% interest when you can hold AUD for 6%? The only risk is the USD strengthening, but even if investors become more risky, they tend to take that risk off shore to other economies such as Australia.

Broke weekly pivot R2, next possible target 1.0150 which looks a strong possibility.

AUD/USD M5 (01/11-05/11)

Shorted again @ 1.0140. 1st target @ 98.50. Working off the Daily Channel. Couuld turn here, or could go to 1.0250 area before turn. We'll see.
