Hi Puma1 and PnF folks --

Used PnF some in the past. I really like it conceptually. Simple.Price.Action.

Seems some here are using it on short TFs. Does it respond fast enough . . . What have you found?

Anyone have some stable, effective settings on box sizes and reversals they would be willing to share?

Glad you guys are here. A load of indicators never/rarely works over time.

Hi Cool,

Curious, at 25/4 set on M30 you can't be taking too many trades. (which is not a bad thing)

Would you mind sharing about how many trades a month you would find with these settings? You must be looking at multiple pairs.

I'm setting up 25/4 now for a serious look.

What the heck was that? Pending order since yesterday and a big spike up and another down and the trade went to hell within seconds. Thank god for money management.

you must keep an eye on the news releases. check the ff calender and look for the reds... that or just keep reading the taf thread as they keep a keen eye on news releases also.

Cute P&F is chewing up some serious CPU on my machine (and its not the machine, I'm a gamer so for discussion sake just take my word)....is there a version somewhere that doesn't slow the computer down so much?

I'm finding I can only run 2 windows of Cute P&F atm.

EDIT: Figured it out. The smaller the box size, the more CPU power needed. Runs ok on 3, even better on 5 and 7, etc etc.

or you could just use my indicator. i wrote it specifically because the pnf indi i found somewhere else was also shafting my cpu due to my large number of bars in chart history. could be cute pnf, i don't remember because it quickly found it's way to the bin.

no my pc is fine, i just have a lot of bars in memory compared to normal which means any indicator that iterates through all bars in history will run slower on my machine than someone elses mt4 that hasn't had the options messed with.

it goes same as usual, round and round and round. forex is like crack lol.

I've actually stopped using Cute (now using FXI Advanced P&F indicator which solves the problems of CPU chew and more critically, shifting price levels in Cute).

anyone read "Phantom of the Pits"?

i suggest you do...good read i promise...

supposedly written by a good trader...

what struck me was he recommended Point and Figure charting to:

"...understand the characteristics of your market" p.31
"...pnf charts are closer to the market as pnf charts don't restrict prices to within a day's range." p.35

i've been holding back to committing to pnf due to my recent success in using PA...but at the back of my mind,at the end of the day...i have this strong feeling that pnf is the way to go...

anyway, until then...

then jump to page 41 as he discusses the merit of pnf,why he prefers pnf and the advantage over other charting method whose parameters are the same...high,low,open and close...

then he struck an issue which i found relevant to forex...

he asked what would the reader think if a bar/candle was posted using the same parameters(high,low,open,close) but w/ a different time?...just like forex i thought since its a 24hr market...

pnf charting and the rules presented in the document are a perfect match...

im pondering on the question, did the author came about his rules as a result of using pnf or did he choose pnf as pnf was compatible to his rules?

on p.43 he starts to specifically discuss pnf...

even making suggestions on how to start using them...

remember, the document wasn't intended to be about pnf...the author was just explaining his own preferred way of charting...
