what fees do you incur when withdrawing from oanda to your paypal account? It doesn't say on their website.

I'm not here to bash brokers or to endorse anybody.......

My post was intended to open some peoples eyes. Next time you open a trade just keep in mind that your broker is on the other side of your position.

I would suggest people to have a second and maybe a third broker so in a situation were one broker is "defending their position" you can quickly hedge and minimize your losses .......

this is a great idea, easy protection.

been trading for nearly 2 years now and i would say this is my first "broker incedent". I genuinely dont believe brokers to be as bad as what is commonly thought. like the previous poster said, if this kind of thing was happening every day with a broker they would lose a lot of customers.

Probably part of this extra payment came from my money snatched from me on three Friday trades that got stopped out many many pips before reaching the stoploss. And yes, connection also remained on and off during vitally important times.

news hmmm well i got disconnected on the last 2 big news events last being the report from Chairman Ben S. Bernanke friday morning--15oct

disconnected 20 mins or so when it came back prices were 20-30 pips out
and would have lost but because I couldnt close the trade so i ended up making 30 pips as im normally out for big news events i dont really notice

..


so if this is going to be a habit with them then..... now im curious if you are not in a trade does it disconnect lol
and only disconnects if in a trade..

I have an account with Oanda, is lowest spreads like Euro/USD 1.0! Charts are not very good so I use MT4. Oanda also pay interest on account balance.

No, honestly, I still like oanda a lot, I see much potential, if only the disconnects were resolved. I am using API which works very fine. Often better then FXTrade , meaning I get fewer API-disconnects then FXTrade Java disconnects....

But still... it is really strange this Java application of oanda... I never liked it much... Why the fu**ing hell does it slow down when there is newstime or high volatility.... it literally slows down so that you have problems typing in numbers or clicking on trendlines etc... IT IS CLEARLY DELIBERATE... and I hate that this is what is.

Its like they know that a lot of user input during newstimes will get their servers crashed and thats why they have a number of methods to control user input... one method being the slowing down of the java app...

I wish I were just ranting... an my love for oanda still surpasses the anger... but I would certainly advice oanda to change something... and I dont mean the corporate design of their webpage...

I will get very upset if nextweek we get another 1 hour disconnect.... They had this whole weekend to run their repairs... lets see... :-(

Dude, I'm not on their payroll. But I have several accounts with several brokers and can say when one is a scam. Oanda is not. Yes, they have disconnect problems at the moment. And yes they are a market maker. But this isn't something new. I'm amazed how many of you just cry and cry everytime again instead of having the balls to move on. I just don't get it. If I don't like a broker I change it. It's that easy.

Personally I have the same issues as you. BUT I always got my money back if there was something wrong. Something I can't say about other brokers like Nordmarkets (and they are ECN).

I was just wondering if anyone can tell me if Oanda let you use Paypal for Deposits and withdrawels, looked at their website but don't see any re paypal? I use paypal a lot and love its handiness,
if not Oanda, does anyone know any reputable brokers that let you use paypal for your transactions, would be grateful for any replies, thanks.

Hello, oanda is running again, but with a lot of bugs... can you confirm that? Some windows seem to always activate and deactive... haha, what is going on...

strange though on my other computer (laptop) everything runs ok.... crazy...

WTF? Can anyone confirm that?

Yep, I've got flickering windows and I can't change to another account either I've tried both desktop and webpage login.
Nothing worth having is easy.

It seems that the flickering windows appear once I change to one of my saved profiles... but initially the windows are not flickering and everything works....

what does that mean? Did the oanda-team change something but it doesnt work well with the old saved profiles?

I am seeing no issues right now with the platform. But I use Mac. Haven't checked it on my pc yet.

I checked with a mac (I use a macbook with iphone for App-Dev)... and yes it seems to work normal...


So far the flickering is limited to Win XP Version.
