Hi RR, Thanks for this EA, but I am trying to backtest a strategy with this and have not seen where the GMT adjustment setting is on the EA to account for the broker's server timings?

Ronald,

Thank you for taking the time to point me to your Breakout EA. I am missing an appropriate input as I am not able produce backtest results with the EA.

Not sure which setting(s), however attached are the settings I am using.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Looks like you set SignalsOnly to true.

When SignalsOnly is true, the EA won't place a trade. It will only alert you to a trade opportunity.

Work it into the start / stop times.

Much Appreciated. Its working nicely now.

Is there a SL setting which would use the opposite end of the box as the SL? Would the CloseOnOppositeSignal command facilitate this?

Set SLMultiplier to 1.0 and please please pretty please read the first post. I'm pretty sure everything was explained clearly.

thanks for your work RR , which only has these options:

- Tp and sl based on a percentage of range
- Be able to double or triple the batch if you enable sl
these options would be the basic

Another option could be partial tp part of the lot and that once it reaches the first tp the rest go to breakeven

this would be the function:

extern double LotFactor=1; // LotSize multiplication factor after loss trade


UsePercentageStopLoss = True; Enables/Disables Percentage Stoploss
PercentofRange = 50; The percent of the total range (high to low) that the EA will use as its stoploss difference. 10 => 10%, 70 => 70%, etc.

can't seem to get it to take trades using alpari

pretty sure i have used the correct paramaters required

i must be doing something wrong

says trade trigger none in the top left

can someone please check this .set file for me and help determine why no trades are placed in tester

i've read the first page but seems i'm doing something wrong

could someone please upload a .set file as a starting point

Run the tester in visual mode, check for the box.

I found the following bug in the Breakout EA.

iHighest() and iLowest() calls should use "MODE_HIGH" and "MODE_LOW" instead of "PRICE_HIGH" and "PRICE_LOW".

This makes the breakout range based on "highest HIGH" (ok, "by chance" MODE_HIGH=PRICE_HIGH=2).
But the other end is "lowest CLOSE" (PRICE_HIGH=MODE_CLOSE=3...).

It is quite a frequent error in EAs... and quite hard to spot too... bi have struggled long enough once on this issue in one of my EAs to get used to them!

Unfortunately "PRICE_LOW" and "MODE_LOW" symbols don't have the same value (that would solve the issue in MT4!!).


You might also want to check your other EAs just in case.

Hello FF members,
I cannot get the sl and tp to work on IBFX. I have input ecn and autodetect5digitbroker to true also slmultiplier and tpmultplier set to 1.
Any idea to fix this problem?Thanks

Hi Ronald, thanks for the great ea. I had just completed running many tests using version 5.5 and set it up to run on a demo account. That version put all the lines correctly on the chart, but would not place any orders.
I will try this one to see if it works. I hope so, it looks great.

nice EA, would it be possible to add min and max lot size setting for money management?

Hey Guys don't know if this will help anyone but to make it clearer I edited the instructions from post 1 to make it a bit clearer.
