Ichimoku forever

That is a good point about the flat kumo, the longer they are the stronger they are supposed to be as support/resistance. I have noticed a lot of times you can put a horizontal line on them and scroll back and it will have hit that zone several times.

yes you can remove them (but you can for example put 5 15 30 & 240)

on 5TF i use 5 15 30
on 15TF I use 15 /30/60 and so on ..
i wait for kumos in "good" disposition 5 / 15 / 30 and after that wait for a break of 5 kumo (Aqua) you should see almost a TK cross just before that (90% of the time)
the best is when the kumo is on a pivot point

Can anyone help I'm doing OK with understanding Ichi & can read the charts like the daily papers now, but my problem is plotting S/R from the higher T/Fs if I decided to plot them all C/S, Kumo, K/S & T/S from say Weekly Daily and H4 I'm going to end up with a very messy chart can someone help me out please as I know S/R are very important when looking at "The Big Picture".

I have been just learning this myself, I think the idea is that the cloud/kumo itself is the support and resistance I think that’s the idea of it being projected ahead. If you want to add extra lines I would try to add them where the kumo had long flat areas, price needs to be stuck in a range for it to make those flat area’s.

I don’t know how far back your charting goes, but you can go to http://www.dailyfx.com/charts/
and they go back around 800 bars or more, just add some lines and see what helps you.

you can try it for free, in demo mode it lets you use 1 month of data, so depending on the time frame you use it will give you a long enough time to test stuff. it plays back the bars just like you are trading,

Thanks so much for your very detailed reply, I have tried back testing but as I said the chart looks so confusing with lines every where 'cause there is support from the Kumo from the C/s the K/s and the T/s just not sure which ones to use & when.
Fxtrading posted a nice simulator for us to use if you ant to check it out its ob page 92 post #1373.
I included an attachment that was posted here a while back only sorry I can't remember who but if you look at this you'll see maybe why I am perplexed its all a mystery I can't seem to get my head around. Thanks again though it's nice to hear from people who are at the same/similar stage as me.

try cci 14 & 6 14 & 50 or 24/79 and level 0 ; 67/-67 ; 100/-100

RSI = Histogram Green if RSI8>55 Red if RSI8<45

choose what you prefer on your usual TF

take trades when both kumo break and arrow on ccirsi

Looking at your attached chart.

Your horizontal dashed lines look to be about 60 pips.

Price started to turn down around the 27th , there was a T/K cross around there you could think that it would pull back to the kumo, it was about 3 lines so that would be 180 pips, you might be able to go to a shorter time frame during that maybe even 1hr or 30min and get some of that with the idea that you are using the 4hr as your main chart, and you were looking for it to only hit the 4hr kumo.

Your early entry around the 29th I don’t know what that would be from, the next entry to me would be on the 30th with the tk cross.

I don’t know what your 300 pips is from, it looks like price moved about 6 lines or more up from your late entry, so that is 360+ pips. One method for the stop is to follow the Kijun with a buffer for the spread of your broker, if the spread was 5 then have your stop say 6 – 10 below the kijun, that way price can come back to it and not stop you out.

Another thing I have seen people talk about is preserve mode or something like that to where as soon as you are up X you go to a tighter stop. Say for example your preserve mode for 4hour was 200 pips.(once you hit 200 pips you want to keep that profit) at that point you then use the tankan as your stop, move your stop to your buffer away from the tankan .

It looks like around 8:00 am on the 3rd you would of switched to the tankan, and then about 16:00 on the 4th you would of stopped out.

So I am not sure what extra lines you would want to add to the chart.

Here is my view on it, you can add any amount of lines, indicators, multiple kumo’s, what ever you want to your chart. For example take your snapshot here and add a bunch of indicators to it, and then look at it and see if the extra indicators really tell you anything more than just the ichi by itself. If they do then you need to write them into your plan and backtest again and see if you get any better results.

To start though try to just pick one of the basic signals that ichi provides as a buy and build from that, write it all out and test it. The main thing with testing is that you follow your plan exactly so you know if your plan works. I can tell you that but that is my biggest problem is not following my plan or always going to a shorter time frame and just doing what ever, its easy to say follow a plan but doing it is something else entirely

Here is an example for you for a plan based on your attached chart

Timeframe: 4hr
Pair: G/J

Entry: T/K cross , price follwing the trend of Kumo

Counter Trend entry: no (this would be going to shorter time frame for that drop on the 27th, you would need to decide how far from kumo is enough to try it)

Entry method: limit order 10 pips above tenken after TK cross, adjust order up as T moves up. (you need to decide here what you do, do you just buy it , set a limit order at tenken, some buffer above tenken)

Initial stop: Kijun – 10 pips (you need to back test each pair you trade to see what works, you can use fixed of X pips, the Kijun, buttom of kumo, ect..)

First stop move: after 50pips profit move stop to +5 (here you wait until you are X pips in profit then move stop to B/e or something)

After first stop: move stop following K-10

Profit protect: 200 pips. After 200 pips move stop to T-10

There is a sample plan that has all your entries, exits, and stops for you test. If after you test it you do not like the results then adjust something and retest the same time period following your new rules and see if it is any better.

The stops will be the hardest most subjective part, everyone has their own ideas on what to do that is why it helps to write down what you are using. Another example is that some people wait for a pull back and then use the low of that as the stop. Using your chart that would be around 16:00 on the 4th (233.408), then wait until the next one at 234.688, then it looks like there is one around 237.. you would need to test that and see how it works.

So I guess it gives us lots and lots of time to practice but I'm also tempted to go for the shorter TFs......

cci for start and ichi for R/S

here we have kumo 5 AQUA below kumo 15 WHITE
wait for kumo5 to penetrate K15 , and EURUSD i think will go UP
see also S and R between the 2 kumos 5 & 15
(i have taken the long one from K5 to K15)

i have left this form for a long time cause i really started to make some money from forex , guys the only thing that helped me is this system , there is a lot of trading ideas how to use the ichimoku but its the best system ...

finally K5 was enabled to cross up K15 (first rectangle) and during the night (in Europe) eurusd falls (helas ! but for me it was in the evening ) as you see in the picture where there is the break kumo5 Aqua falls and breaks kumo30 and @ 1H time of Europe (-26) where i put the arrow , a trade short was good (70 pip) , ADX and RSI and CCI confirm the possible short there

Price moves into cloud which as as resistance and gives me a nice technical level to support the trade.Chinkou span ( plum line ) was also under cloud at time of entry

HA bars ( Heiken Ahsi ( Japanese also :-)) on the 5 min goes green to red

we now have entry..

Exit

We use the longer time frame and use HA bars again and exit when they go green from red

If you look at the last signal we have candle touching cloud but HA was green ..when it went red we enter..we now switch to 15min and as you can see its red and we have to wait for a completed green bar to close

2 nice signals 70 pips and a short look acceptable atm
