THV system, final edition

this is going to sound stupid, but it's just that i haven't tried it personally, so just a few questions....

during the 1m scalp, i'm finding more and more, that the best way to make money is to keep the SL tight on the losers, especially the ones that go against you right away, but not to exit and TP on your winners without good reason (maybe a mental trailing stop loss of say close to 10 pips would be a good idea), as those winners could go to +50 or more pips (which will cover 4->5 of the SL's).

i haven't traded on 5m yet. do we still look at the 1m? and how do i handle the SL's? right now on 1m, my SL is between 7->13 pips. but the winners can be up to +50 or more.

and one more thing, what indicators are you guys using? in the end, now, i just have 5 currencies up and toggle them non stop trying to find a good looking adx scenario. what audible alarms are you guys using? i tried to use misspips lights, but that's at least one minute late. when you get there, you may see that the adx looked best 4 minutes ago as well as 10+ pips ago....

how about the ADX scan that tread posted a while ago? i downloaded it, but is anybody using it and those who are, is it helping a lot? seller9's signal is way too far and in between. Or has everybody moved to the thv ea as the signal provider and then begin an analysis off of that? i've downloaded it. but not really using it yet. i've noticed that it really eats cpu. i think i wouldn't be able to get more than 3 charts up on that with my notebook.

Hi Seller 9, I am just testing out your M1 ADX Alert indi, what indicators do I need in my MT4 folder?

All the lights are working apart from ADX which just stays yellow. Which indicator do I need for the ADX? thanks!

Well here is a new version of the Swiss Army indie including Treads ADX method.
.
In order for it to work you need the attached indicators in your indicators folder (not on your chart). If you want the divergence setting to work on the 1m chart you also need to redownload THV3 Trix for MTFHisto if you didnt do so in one of the previous versions of the SA histo, because that setting was turned off in the previous version. If you don't need to see divergence for the 1m tf in the histo you can stick with the previous THV3 Trix for MTFHisto if you already downloaded it.

Changes
1) Added types 23 t0 28.

2) Added ability to specify trix hot param per row.Note that the hot parameter determines which trix is being used. 1.2 corresponds to the THV V4 trix, .70 to Trix 4.1 div.

3) Added Currenttf param. This causes the eperiods to be ignored and the current timeframe to be used for all etypes when set to true. (Use if you have a particular set of indicators that you like using all on one tf and you want to be able to see them when switching the chart tf.)


So now the modes and types are
Mode 1:
=====
Mode 1 looks at ePeriod Type, which can be the following
ePeriod types:
0 = slow trix

1 = fast trix

2=stochs

For type 2 (stochastics) you can set each row to use a different stochastic. Use Stochsignal for row1 , secondstochsignal for row2, thirdstochsignal for row 3,fourthstochsignal for row 4etc.)

3=Thv classic mode

(fast trix above slow trix and fast trix above 0 and fast trix green or the opposite for short)

4=semiclasic (fast trix above/below slow trix i.e trix cross but not necessarily above zero, and fast trix still in direction of trade)

5=cloud

6=HeikenAishi;

7=TDI (traders dynamic index)

8=AboveBelow0 (fast trix above 0 and fast trix green - or the opposite for short)

9 =AboveBelow Tenkan (Price above/below Tenkan)

10=Above/Below Kijjun (Price above/below Kijjun )

11=Above/Below Tenkan && Kijun"; (Price above/below Tenkan & Kijjun )

12- Trix Hist (shows whether the distance between the fast and slow trix is increasing or decreasing in the direction of the trade)

13 -Coral

14- Divergence - Catches the divergence arrows show by the Trix on the higher timeframes. Note that divergence arrows do not appear in realtime - it takes a least two bars for the trix to catch it, and it is also not always right. So it's better to catch it manually yourself, but if you missed it this will give you a heads up.

Type 15 - Both fast and slow trix. Red means both fast and slow trix are red, green means both fast and slow trix are green, empty means one is grean and the other is red.

Type 16 - The angle of the stochastic signal line. Red means the line is sloping down green means it is sloping up (regardless of whether there has been a cross or not).

Type 17 - Same as type 16 but the signal line is greater than 20 and less than 80.

Type 18 - Chop signal based on the TDI. Red when price is below the TDI 5 period high and low smoothed channel, green when price is above it, empty when price is inside the channel.

Type 19 - All ThV. Green when price is above coral and cloud and both trix lines are green, red when price is below coral and cloud and both trix lines are red. However trix does not have to be crossed in the direction of the slope.

Type 20 -All ThV Plus Trix Cross Same as type 19 but in addition trix must be crossed in the direction of the slope.


Type 21 - Green when price is above Coral and Cloud, and Slow Trix is green, Red when price is below Coral and Cloud, and Slow Trix is red, empty when none of the above

Type 22 - Green when price is above Coral and Cloud, and Fast trix is green, Red when price is below Coral and Cloud, and Fast trix is red, empty when none of the above.

Type 23 - All Guppy MMAs are sloping the same direction. Green sloping up, red sloping down

Type 24 - All Guppy MMAs are sloping the same direction, and also in order ( i.e, 3 above 5, 5 above 8 etc, or vice versa)

Type 25 - Three specified MAs have crossed and specified stochastics poining in same direction.

Type 26 - Three specified MAs have crossed and are above the Coral.


Type 27 - Fast trix, slow trix and trix histogram all the same color

Type 28 - Treads ADX setup: Green when PlusDI above MinusDI, Plus DI increasing, PlusDI above specified value, ADX above specified value, ADX increasing or red when vice versa Note that ADX , PlusDI and Minus DI price mode values are as follows:
PRICE_CLOSE 0 Close price.
PRICE_OPEN 1 Open price.
PRICE_HIGH 2 High price.
PRICE_LOW 3 Low price.
PRICE_MEDIAN 4 Median price, (high+low)/2.
PRICE_TYPICAL 5 Typical price, (high+low+close)/3.
PRICE_WEIGHTED 6 Weighted close price, (high+low+close+close)/4

This is different from the MTFADX indie Tread released, which uses the high price for all three by default (an error in my opinion because it seems to scew things to the positve side, but you can choose what you like). If you dont care whether the ADX is above a certain value, just that it be increasing set ADXMinVal to 0. Likewise if you don't care if the DI value is above a particular level, just that it be increasing set DIMinVal to 0.




Mode 2
======
Mode 2 ignores eperiod type and sets all tfs to demi classic mode (fast trix above/below slow and above/below zero, but may have changed color against the trade.
Mode 3
======
Mode 3 ignores all ePeriod types and sets all selected tfs to classic (fast trix/above below slow and still in direction of the trade and above/below zero)
Mode 4
======
Mode 4 ignores all ePeriod types and sets all selected tfs to semiclassic (fast trix/above below slow and still in direction of the trade but not necessarily above/below zero)

Autotimeframe
===========
When autotf is true, the indicator works like the old trix histo, selecting the next second and third higher timeframes for the fast and slow trix (i.e on a one minute chart, 5m f & s and 15m f & s trix).
If use autotf and usesecondautotf are both true, then it selects the fourth and fifth higher tfs for the fast and slow trix. (i.e on a one minute chart 30m f & s and 60m f & s trix)
Alarm
The alarm only works when autotf is false
The way it works is that for each row in the histo you can choose whether to count the row in the max score by setting countE1-4 to true. Then you set a Max score. You will get an alarm when the total score is greater than or equal to the Max score.
For example:
Suppose I have the following settings.
row 1 is the 1m f trix
row2 is the 1 m coral
row 3 is the 1m cloud
row 4 is the 5m fast trix.
If I want to get an alarm when all four rows are the same colour I set countE1-4 to true and max score to 4.
If I want to get an alarm when 3 of the four are true I set countE1-4 to true and max score to 3. In this case when any three of the rows are the same color you will get an alarm. (You will also get an alarm once when the fourth row turns color as well)
If I want to get an alarm when only the first, second and third rows are true I set countE1, countE2 and countE3 to true, countE2 and countE4 to false and max score to 3.
In addition the score for each row is reset if the histo row changes color.
So if you have an alarm on the first,second and third rows, and max score set to 3, when all three change to the same color (green for example) you will get an alarm. If the second row changes color (to red for example) but the first and third rows stay green, when the second row changes back to green you will get another alarm.
You will get the alarm at the start of the next bar following the bar in which the total score was greater than or equal to maxscore.

Thanks. To celebrate I will release an improved version of the MTF ADX. You can specify the price used. This version uses the high for the PlusDI the low for the MinusDI and typical for the ADX. When looking at the other version it seems to scew things in favor of a positive trend because it uses the high price for all three.

If you downloaded the previous version V4.30 please download this one. The previous version had a bug in that it didn't check whether the plusDi was increasing - just the ADX. I also added a new type
Type 29 - Ignores whether the ADX is increasing. Just checks whether ADX is above the specified value, whether DI is above the specified value and whether DI is increasing.

Red when minusDI is below Plus DI , DI is increasing, ADX and DI are above the specified value, vice versa for green.

Also I added an AlertsMode. 0 works as before. You get the alarm for the previous bar at the start of a new bar. 1 sounds an alarm intra bar whenever if Maxscore equals or exceeds the specified value.

Use any template and drag in the swissarmyhisto indicator. Then adjust per your requirements. Miss Pips kindly put all the individual setups that you could use depending on your trading requirements. This is already a standard item in the basicTHV4 template which has been updated today.

I have a trix mtf, a cloud mtf, then the swiss army, the adx mtf.....too many things for me! Or just let me know the last good configuration, what is old and what is new, so we can start off with a clear idea.

Can anyone tell me what's happening to the TRIX MTF indicator on the AUDUSD charts: I just noticed that the H1 and M15 setting is out of whack; they both show red even though the AUDUSD has been powering steadily up for the past 18 hours. That can't be right.

And clicking through a couple time frames to 'refresh' the data doesn't help. It's stuck...I think.

This is weird...and worrying.

1) m1 gives a signal way after the trix cros, many times at the end of the trend. Why that?
2) if m1 is running on 5 min chart, it is still giving 1 min alert, true?

Hi Superboy.
Not all the MTF indicators were done by me. The SwissArmy (as you might guess from the name) is a multipurpose indicator that you can use to combine all the others in a histogram in any combination you like and get alerts on any combination you like. It is the latest one I;ve done, and the 28 various etypes you can use to get the 28 various types of indicators ( for example, cloud, trix, divergence, Coral, ADX and various combinations thereof) are listed in my recent post. It is entirely up to you how you combine them, based on how you like to trade.

I'm aware that the indicator repaints.

But this is the worst case of a problem mentioned before by another poster: the blocks all showed one colour, he enters a trade, shifts to a new time frame, and when he clicks back the blocks are no longer showing the same colour configuration.

I've had the same thing happen to me, and the changes sometimes involve almost an entire row, not just the previous block (which is what I understand repainting to mean). This is the first time the indicator doesn't seem to 'refresh' to more accurately reflect what's on the charts.

When the poster with a similar problem mentioned it, some said it was just responding to the change in the market data. That doesn't adequately explain my experiences with this 'sticking' problem, IMHO.

So some new feedback would be greatly appreciated.
