Fool, I'll look to add money when / if I get a few months worth of solid gains until then keeping it hobby money, no point wasting over that.

Good to have you back in the game, atleast until work takes over again.

Hey man. You bet. Only $100k to get in too, snap for a perfessional engineer. You know, I have been to Kennewick about 4 times this summer, but every time I'm driving in around 2200 and heading back home by noon the next day. One of these times Ima call you & we will get that beer. You probably know of a place where they aint rolled the sidewalks up by 8 o'clock I bet....

If I can tie up all loose ends I am going on a camping trip in September - Canyonlands, Mesa Verde, etc - & will be driving thru then on a more leisurely pace.

Anyway, hope you are doing well & staying out of trouble.

OK, I am working on this construction job now. We're doing a lot of microtunneling to install utility conduit. The boring rigs work from pit to pit. I kept saying stuff like: "OK, let's excavate and set up at Pip No. 3." ..."Meet me at Pip No. 1." People kinda looked at me funny.

Then, somebody said something about China and I launched into a whole long spiel about China's yuan peg to the USD, the global currency wars, the Federal Reserve....I'm not sure how long I went on. People looked at me even funnier, scratching hard hats....

Then, out of the blue, somebody cut in over the radio and said, "...dude, I been beating off in the shower so long I get a hard-on every time it starts to rain." We all laffed and laffed. They still look at me funny though....

I guess we are our own little club. Everything comes down to charts, pips and pairs. If ever I ran into someone talking forex lingo on a construction site I'd be speachless. Then talk his ear off.

The guys there uderstood the shower extrcuricular activities mores so then pips. Sounds familure.

Yeah they're half of em functionally illiterate but pulling in 6-figure incomes risking their lives running huge machinery. They should let me have some of that 401k money to trade for them....hmmm...

How's biz with you, Rufus? Hope you're in the pips. I am holding steady with short hours til after T'giving - pretty much just the FO/LO and maybe a half hour around the NYO if there is a news play. Not sure what fate the winter holds. I keep nudging up the trade size though and I can leverage myself out of the slowdown for good. I should be at about 5-lots by the new year....

Have a good weekend. We are working straight through. Ugggh.

The pips are starting to come in more regularly, getting very comfortable with my trading style. As usual my bigest strugle is the ballancing act of work, sleep, and trading. Sleep of course is the one that suffers.
Thursday night at FO I could not even focus on the monitor, felt like I was going to crash my head into the space bar. Went to bed.

I have also been creeping up my equity, both with trading and where ever else I can find the cash. By Feburary or March I would like to see about half of my income come from trading.

My trading/work schedule has been mixed up at best. Sunday, Monday, Tuesday up till 2:00 am then up for work at 6:30. Back in my beer drinking days it was easy, but back then I did not have my mind so involved. There was only two things on it, beer and girls. As for Wed, Thur, nights it is hit and miss whether I have been able to catch a nap here and there to be able to function. I even tried that 5 hr energy drink...what a joke for me..Been better off with a $2.50 cup of coffee at a bikini barrista.

Oh well..I will be doing the same next week..It is nice to have the work coming in..But trading is good too.

I had 2 weeks with some trade time, bumped the account up 40% then ran out of time again and not even looked at a chart in 3 weeks


Shame it's a gold mine, but sadly 40% onto my account is nice but it's 1.5hours of work so not really worth it.

wow this is a long time going thread. I read the beginning of it and was wondering how you two were doing (TurveyD and The Fool).

I know trading looks great in theoretical numbers haha, but when reality sets in it's a tad different. I switched over from stocks to forex about 6 months ago specifically for the fact that you can trade on percents because the market really has no personal trader limits.

Agreed! That's what I love about forex, a pre-defined amount of money I'm willing to risk. No surprises that way. I used to trade options a lot but just like stocks, too easily manipulated.

Hey Dude, how far are you from trading fulltime? I like the fact that you're not letting setbacks deter you from your goal. Forget the negativity. You can get there.

Eh stop losses are stop losses, but the indicators in the stock market get messed up every time the market opens and closes, and there's also a lot more market manipulation by big firms.

Stocks were frustrating because to trade a larger amount of money, you have to change your timeframe and trading style. The same trades don't apply because the liquidity of the market isn't high enough.

Right now I'm still trading with set lot amounts and therefore practically a salary of gains. I'm trying to get into trading on percents so the gains become exponential such as these guys were mentioning.=)
