I'm only 39 and totally relate to the running out of time, haven't had time to barely check the chart let alone trade since 22nd Jan 2010 The months just fly by so fast aswell.

1 hour per day with a vague target of 50pips would do me, New York open, but no chance any time soon, I've got 5 systems on the go for the same client all of them hugely complicated


But been checking and formulating the S10 plan so I'm ready for when it all slows down ( Demo for a bit ), account should also be much healthier which will really help.

Hey Turveyd,

Trading from a larger base will make things more interesting. I am still manually scalping E/U on S10/M1. I really want to get into automated trading and I think the first thing I will try to do is automate the momentum scalps that work well for me manually. Seems so simple conceptually but I bet it will turn out to be not so very. Devil in the details, as always.

Anyway I will be out of work again by the end of June it seems. Then it will be back to the round-the-clock pip harvest. Don't know if I will be blabbing much about it here - but best of luck to you when you get back in the game.

Yo dude, S10/M1 is still my plan to. just been contacted ( likely because of my post ) to work on a EA so I'll take a look at that, supposed to get good results but not a fan.

I haven't got any ability to do S10 based EA's really wouldn't like to code a M1 based momentum system, actually been there tried that hasn't got the accuracy entry or exit wise.

My work will run out to sooner or later so need Trading as backup Plan B for when this happens.

Some interesting stuff in that link.

Your Steinbeck quote reminds me of a friend I had during the internet stock boom and day trader "mania".

Very humble, generous, and kind guy....also arguably the most successful daytrader in our office at the early age of 25-26. With a chemical engineering degree from Notre Dame, he was one of those individuals that was good at so many things, obviously a first rate mind.

The quality that stands out though, he was humble. A true absence of ego, so rare in youth..especially successful youth. (He was probably worth close to half-million dollars when I met him). Mostly self-made, with a small amount of borrowed starter capital, he managed to hang onto it all and diversify and grow his net worth in other ways. I'm sure he is close to the $3-5 million mark these days, now in his mid-thirties.

I think it is quite possible to be very successful and "nice". I often think of him and hope to some day achieve that humility he had as a trader. An even greater accomplishment would be to have that humility as a person.
I'm still working on it.

FX trading slow/steady, just a few hours a week to scalp. I have made money trading stocks (VG, VXX) in the last weeks. Otherwise eng work has picked up & I am in overtime mode on projects. I was in Kennewick a couple weeks ago but had to be in/out so no time to call - I will be back in July & hope to meet you then.

Hello boys. I am doing well. I only started trading again more or less daily around the first of this month. I had rifled all but one spot account over the Spring - I had a need for cash flow and also, the only way I could stop trading compulsively (i.e., like 6+ hrs/day) was to not have any real money on the line. I had tons of engineering work to get done and trading was just getting in the way.

So now I have gotten the dayjob workflow under control and I can afford a couple or three hours a day to trade. I am pushing money back into a futures account this week.

I still want to take on investors' money to trade but that fantasy keeps getting deferred. Have half-assedly been studying for the Series 3/34 tests. Waiting to see what the CFTC puts out for new set of regulations on forex leverage, CTA registration requirements, etc & on the fence until they do.

Otherwise, I am still pretty much trading the same - scalping in at high leverage with an eye on the larger-term trend or probable breakout direction. Still works - I am looking at about +25% so far this week. But still laborious so I just am on the FO mostly, about 0630-1000 GMT, usually not that late past 0830 or so unless there's news. And the Tokyo open has been very worthwhile lately. I will take quick winners at stalls until I have a few % banked (if I am lucky) and then I start concentrating on letting something run from a sl @ BE or better. This would work for me better if I could catch the London/NY overlap, but at 5AM there's just no way I can make it if I am putting in hours on the day job. If I ever take the plunge and become a full time trader obviously I wouldn't want to miss that.

Good to hear your getting back into the swing of things. I kind of took a page from your book in regards to scalping. Now I'm focusing on a reasonably small sl trading in conjunction with the smaller trend. As you said the most difficult part isnt the setups but maintaining your discipline .
