What should have happened...

I need some explanations on what occured. I pick my moves based on candlestick analysis. On a particular move, based on the bar with an arrow pointing to it, I placed a short. I placed a short because the body was narrower that the previous bar. I took this as weakness, because of the decrease amount of buyers. That's the reason why I shorted. According to the next bar, I lost big. Possibly i'm wrong with my analysis. If you know why I might be wrong, feel free to let me know. Thanks.

There is no reason, the market does random stuff, any outcomes are at best a probability. Isn't this all obvious?

Oh, you're not joking. Sorry. The candle you point to on the chart you provided is a spinning top candle. It does not mean a decrease in the number of buyers. The number of buyers is not represented by the candle formation; rather the candle represents the PA movement during that time frame (I think you provided a day chart). The long tail on the spinning top candle says that during the day, the PA moved down below the candle's starting price. However, as the day closed, buyers had returned, moving the price above the opening price. I would not use any of that to make a buy/sell decision, but that is what that one candle says to me. If you are looking for suggestions, I would add the following: Google "charting candlestick" and start reading up on what individual candles mean; Google "candle formations and patterns" and study candle patterns, perhaps looking closely at reversal patterns. Finally, and with all due respect to Craig, the market action is not always random. The idea here is to know when those times are, and to be able to identify repeating patterns to trade so as to increase the probability of success. IMHO.
