(Gbp/Usd 60-min Time Frame, Thursday 07/01/2010 GMT 11:15PM) Cable has been driving higher as DX hit double top in the Daily Time Frame as mentioned two weeks ago. As depicted, a perfect energy point was hit and triggered an intra-day sell off. A Catalin Fork can also be utilized to capitalize the recent market's gyrations.

I think GU will test the LML of the green fork. Right now I am looking for a short entry somewhere around the green fork ML.
Right now GU is showing a switchback behavior around the sliding parallel of the blue fork. and also zoomed through the green fork ML.

Gbp/Usd must have topped out last night. Price actions at the moment further confirmed such notion. Let's see if the market provides a decent rebound to add short positions.


Edit: Some buying pressure at the moment after hitting the hourly slider...

some charts for the day i made a few pips on my euro entrys on second and 3rd arrows. hope you are making pips everyone i will be setting up a thread this weekend in marketgeometry so also look for posts there. Have a great 4th of july everyone

I like the concept AP/ML.
I am a newbie... just that I see many lines being drawn and hence confusing the trading.
Is there a limit to to draw AP/ML? in order to avoid confusing (sorry to ask).

Yes from what i have read so far is that you can go out to 4 warning lines that is the norm. i will give a chart as an example. Read Tims book as well as maybe The Best Trendline Methods of Alan Andrews and 5 New Trendline Techniques. feel free to hit me up on skype eaglestar83,

there are no fixed rules for using a number of warning lines..

use them if it fits your trading style or as long as price respects them or as long as you trust them
after some years i dropped them away from the charts. they confused me (too many lines and mostly after the fact you got an aha-effect) and i found that i mostly use the most active pivots for my trading so i saw no need for them anymore.

it depends on your style and what setups you use.

I'm torn between two different views:

1. I should not be going long if the market is bearish

2. I SHOULD BE going long if the market is bearish because A) buy low sell high, and B) As price falls, it comes down to previous support levels

so its like...what do I do?...

Then there is the saying, "The trend is your friend"...so if the trend is down, then is going long is out of the question?

Trading can be so damn contradictory ! UGH!

when forks are drawn correctly and complete to the median it is time to look for trades in the opposite direction. you can use pivot counts also to view where price may change direction.

here is another example of warning lines that was relevant today.

Hello Tradpat,

It is certainly a matter of style as Alexandra L. has said. Attached is a chart showing warning lines that were still being respected by price. Actually, the warning line in the chart example, was the support for the price as it gave a false breakout to the downside from the triangle chart pattern. It was actually the 4th warning line spawned from the red fork. (By the way, the forks are of varying colors to help traders follow price).

The beauty about trading is that you use the tools to show you what you need to see in order to trade successfully. Your goal as you continue to learn, is to find what works for you as many of these traders have already done.

In case you are wondering, the yellow ovals were potential price targets placed ahead of time that were actually hit.

Gbp/Usd 60-min Time Frame, Tuesday 07/06/2010 (GMT 12:12AM) Catalin's Upper Median Line was hit yesterday, intra-day Head & Shoulder top, Fibonacci Projection 1.618 was hit at the same vicinity, along with another Energy Point. The pair drops over -100+ points. A perfect short setup with multiple confirmations.

Any updates ,nobody trading this week or what busy somewhere else.

here are two actual setups forming.

gbpjpy lets see if the pink inside fork will hold. actual a zoom and retest is running.
gbpusd is obvious.
i look in the 60min for an entry.
