its a proprietary indicator based around fractals but with variations that i want to be visually alerted to, in case i miss them. basically, it's just what my eyes see.

I already compare with fractal. seem your indicator is compare 1 bar to left and right bar ? since for fractal the indicator compare 2 bar to left and right.

Please advise if its correct ? can you attached the indicator in here ?

As I said, it is a PROPRIETARY indicator and is BASED around fractals not exactly like fractals.

It just gives some extra S&R levels based on my prefrences.

I think people have requested and question his indicator, I think you need to read between the lines, I cannot recall a yes or no on this thread... I would not really hold out for yes.

Let me see if I can help you out and see if you can get someone to code it for you, not a fan of the dangling the carrot and stick.

odd how this says 1.4999 on eurusd one july 8th 2010 on what your saying is the eurusd...

Im assuming that this is instead this is the gbpusd 4hour chart so using the gbpusd 4 hour chart using the daily chart and striking a s&r line at 1.5280 price is rising and pressing against the bottom side we are looking for shorts not longs.. we are also waiting for a better entry setup like a failed higher high break short against the resistance zone.. so answering the question nothing in the block is in play because its not against a support or a resistance zone based on a 4 hour chart.

ive attached a chart we are waiting for a setup like this red go short stop blue... based on 4 hour entry

Piker money control/risk control

different styles of trading use different money and risk control tactics. When being a trader and having large sums of money tied up into the market generally I use a piker style..

A piker is a cheap very cautious trading style.. not balls to the walls 100:1 leverage.. the small multiple entry style allows us to inject capital into the markets and pick up risk as the trend proves to continue.. this means as trend builds and continues we make more money but in conditions where we are getting chopped only a partial part of our capital is ever at risk.

on longer term time frames (greater than 4 hours) trends persist much longer and costs are minimized and the lenght of time to stop can burn much of the losses as interest rates our held again reducing costand losses.

while you see me trade 15m charts like this its not something I do in my firm.. I strickly do if for the thread.

multiple small positions build safety and most importantly efficiency...

smaller positions on whole have a different impact on trader mentality.. when the first postions you enter is only .01% of your account you feel less inclined to jump in and save the position and when it makes money you feel more inclined to hold it.. but over time these small positions really add up... ill give you an example...

price moves from 1.100 to 1.400 or lets say 300 pips every 50 pips new capital is injected into the trade.. 6 trades are made that add up to 6 standard lots ... the initial stop is 100 pips and 1standard lot initial risk or 1,000 bucks on successful tradeto 1.4 we have 6 positions 1 @ 300,1@250,1@200,1@150,1@100,[email protected] we make 10,500 bucks on initial risk of 1000 bucks.. the trade pip wise was 1:3 risk:reward.. but instead we made 1:10.5

initial risk never changes as we always place stop to protect.. breakeven rate increases a bit on fast trades but not really on long term trades.. leverage can be maximized and trends persist and followed into profit by stops.. when trading carry pairs you can offset losses with interest.

when trading is best to diversify bets across multiple markets ... diversity will help you not be overexposed into anyone market .. keep you nimble enough to change positions quickly and account for systemic shocks.. and increase revenue from trading by catching more markets.. your are more likely to hit long trends.

when in equities dont trade the stream unless you are trading the river aswell.. for example.. if the dow is under resistance and making lower lows why buy aapl? if the dow is over support and making higher highs why short rimm? but if the dow breaks and you can buy the dow mini and pike the index you can pick up more exposure by trading in the sum of its parts as well.. dow breaks higher high you pike the dow... aapl breaks high you can increase exposure and buy aapl.

no I dont use on position size each position is slightly smaller.

I also trade daily charts, but it's difficult to my structure my work time for whole day, so i make also some daytrading.

But it's interesting to me, what long term traders, who trade full time from office do for all working day ? (i suppose they do some fundamental research, read "The Economist" and Bloomberg etc.. )

yes I trade in my own firm with a couple other traders who work with me.
well my day is usually pretty full...

I go in walk into the back.. get a coke from the fridge.. hopefully ive remembered to grab a newspaper so I can read the funnies at the desk... after that I get on youtube for a bit watch stuff about lohans drug problem and laugh at dumb crook videos.. I keep the news stream on and watch it to make sure nothing to serious happened or is happening.. if no usually put my feet up for a bit take a power nap..

go over open positions.. if nothing new I look for potential trades new entries on open positions.. traders come to me with ideas for trades and we decide how much to spend on it. then well go over entrances what the charts look like the fundamentals behind it.. the income stream.. what the river is doing.. if it all is good than well trade it ..

then usually a random person will come in and think we are a planning service so i have to explain that we dont do that.

other than that lol not to much else.. we float alot of positions but daily charts are easy to manage not much to do..

Your post #933 going long after the high after the bounce off support makes perfect sense, but I also see on the screen shot you are going long again after the slight retrace. Is this you adding into the trade?

Do you only initiate a new trade after a bounce off support/resistance or would you also take a trade in between levels if you see a retrace like a basic 1-2-3 trade?

Also, would you only take a position if you see significant order flow to trade into (order flow as you have defined it earlier on in the thread)?

thats just a tracking positions 1$ open position makes it easier to see price without looking at the chart

It has to be coming of off support or resistance fail to show the level is holding and breakout to show its coming off the level. when a new s&r is broken and it continues to break I add to the position. The orderflow gauges to tradability and force the price movement will probably have one way or another the better the OF the better and longer the trend will probably last.
