That ref in the Germany/Serbia game was dreadful. I would guess his WC is over.

I'm going to leave my pending orders as they are but I'm expecting exactly nothing to happen today.

I've got beer and a cryptic crossword to keep me busy for a while. Next week will show it's hand... up, down or sideways.

England are playing Algeria later so that should be fun.

It tends to make the stock market extremely volatile, thus throwing the markets around. I comes down to covering positions because of options expiry.

That is true - but the ref was NOT helping.

US about gives the fans a heart attack. Got robbed of the 3rd goal, but should be good against Algeria.

I suppose for stock and futures traders it might matter more but it doesn't mean much to forex though?

Yes it does.....

It has to do with the flow of money. Remember, there are a lot of European firms, British firms, Canadian firms, etc, etc investing in the NYSE as an example. They have to move that money around, thus causing movements in the currency markets.

I should add.....this is a short-term move normally, but it can spike and hurt you.

I saw it too, but to me it's small bearish pattern, inside a larger bullish pattern, inside a downtrend.

So I wish you luck on your short, but I'll still be holding out for 1.58, and if it does drop, I may add another long.

As long as the governments of the world keep playing monetary games, the trend on this is up. I am still waiting for a better price to get in. I have to admit though - I have missed a lot of this leg up. It's been painful to watch!

As we don't have much in the way of action, I would suggest that it is times like these that are truly dangerous for the average trader.

When we start trading, we worry about those 400 pip days wiping out large chunks of our account. The truth is quite different though. It is more likely days, (or weeks) like this that will hurt your account more than anything. When you are a forex trader, and only have 16 pairs or so to look at - you begin to try and find things. Trading out of boredom ensues, and then the losses start to pile up.

As a general rule, if you don't see a potential set up within a few seconds of looking at a chart, it's a less than optimal set up. And in my opinion, it's been less than optimal lately. It's times like these that we are better off sitting on our hands.

And that my friends, is the hardest part of trading. Not trading.

Hi Folks

George Osborne ( Chancellor) was on TV this morning talking about the Budget on Tues. Looks like there wil be cuts, cuts and more cuts across all sectors.

Anybody have any thoughts on what effect this will have on Sterling?
