hmm maybe it happened because my sells started around 1 pm UK time.

that would be weird though. why would my sells start 2 hours later compared to yours.
unfortunately only +20 pips (0.1 lots). Red circle marks the entry bar (GJ @134.164)

The idea of pair trading has been introduced since back in the 1980th. For Forex it can be currencies of countries having good trade relations.

There's sites that basically gives the hourly or daily correlation values. Do a search under forex correlation chart and you'll find a few sites. I cannot post site address since it's not allowed here.

I usually, search the correlation values according to the hour on monday morning, the correlation doesn't have to be very high, over 95% or -95% would be great, but you can use anything that's over 92%.

The 5% value is the sway either toward the left or right, when it is on the 5% positive then, you should be in profit. The other way you will see negative. Which you will hold, since it's 95% correlated toward either other, the draw down shouldn't be high. Wait until the market gains positive pips for you and exit.


I like to use the EA to close out all positions when showing a 20-30 pip profit and then set a alert to text me when it is reached. I would re-enter and over and over again. but, go back to the chart and check to see if those correlating pairs are holding their correlated values.

This does not produce much pips but, it saves me time from trying to look at charts or even try to figure out which direction the market is headed. I've tried many, many strategies for the past 10 years I've dealt with the currency market and so far none produced a stable return that I can quit my day job for. There are times when a strategy produced great returns but, short lived and losses start eating away the profit. Now, I simply use the most basic ideas since the more I learn about this market the more I feel I return to basics again. This idea is very basic.

I haven't experienced much draw downs since using this idea, but the over night interest rates can slowly add up.
For 1 lot x 8 pairs. It usually adds up to about $1.12 - $1.89. Depends on which 8 pairs you choose so, basically you'll be losing 1 or 2 pips a day if you leave it running. I haven't figured out any combination pairs that brought positive interest rates yet.

My worst fear with this is if it continues to show negative pips, not much negative but just being negative for 2 weeks or even 1 month. I am afraid the interest will eat away at me. But, so far that has not happened. I haven't experienced any other issues with it.

Try setting up two demo accounts: like this for (example)
first set ............................second set

aud/usd buy....................... aud/jpy buy
usd/jpy buy........................ gbp/euro buy
gbp/chf buy ....................... euro/usd buy
usd/cad buy ........................chf/usd buy
aud/jpy sell ......................... aud/usd sell
gbp/euro sell......................... usd/jpy sell
euro/usd sell ........................gbp/chf sell
chf/usd sell........................... usd/cad sell

( the above pairs are for EXAMPLES only) they may or may not be in correlations.

The purpose is to see which way the interest rate is higher and also, if they are in balance with the first 8 pairs.
One set should be gaining pips while the other site should be losing pips.

I wonder if anyone else has been using this or something similar to this and can share more knowledge on how to better this idea.

i'm not quite following your way, are you trying to earn swap income? or you expect the whole basket oscillate to a price level that give you 20~30 pips and you take profit then?

to earn swap income, these days seem impossible, those damned brokers have adjusted their swap rates since 2008 collapse so that none can earn swap by holding-long term positions without too much risk.

to earn 20~30 pips on a whole hedged basket, well, that's attractive, but how do you do it? it should've been very difficult to overcome the spread cost at the first place.

Hi to All,

I have been lurking on this thread for several months now and have been trying to perfect the T101 system since November last year. I appreciate everybody's commitment with regards to perfecting a consistent and reliable method of trading this (difficult I know).

Whil'st I do not wish to distract from this excellent thread with a different method I thought I would at least offer up an indicator which I have had the most success with so far. I must point out that I am relatively inexperienced to forex trading so please ignore if you feel it serves no purpose.

I set the indicator (I call them traffic lights) up to show the 1H, 4H and Day, include all the 14 pairs. I wait patiently for all of the pairs (excluding USD/CHF, reversed) to turn red or green before placing a buy or sell.

The logic behind this being that at that moment in time all 14 pairs are heading in the same direction (JPY & USD are either both strong or both weak at the same time). As Kos has stated patience is the key and I have found that using the higher time frames seems to work better.

I hope that this indi maybe of use to someone or It may be of use within the further development of the Kos EA if deemed appropriate.

Seemingly distractive, but not at all. this is very useful to me at least. many thanks!

this indicator is very similar to the one provided by Trade4fun last time (thanks to Trade4fun too!) they give pair readings that are lined-up in a better way than our current 4 conditions "lined up"

Monday i am going to use MrPIPS. LSMA Direction instead of trendmagic in the EA and see how that will go. that is option number 3.

Not really meaningful. that's my impression.

the problem is very obvious now: timing timing and timing of re-entry or if we should use re-entry

I'm not trying to earn from swap interest, I illustrated that if you were to hold the positions over days you must consider the interests that's involved. This idea works best if you do not hold the positions more than a day. Other-wise you'll be losing interests. On average 1-2 pips a day in interest fees for the whole 8 pairs.

I think this is the hedging strategy wit highly correlative pairs. This strategy sound passive trading style and very conservative i guess. But if we want to earn 20-30pips why use 8 pairs, trade one pairs still good enough to earn that pips and this even more safer for lest pairs opened.

I think this method also need more explanation like manual or screenshot for more clear picture.

This is just my opinion.

I‘ve done with my alternative logic on Robert's version e EA.

you should try it out, because Robert and Don's versions (the recent 5 or 6 of them) do similar things, but this EA edited by me is DIFFERENT,

it doesn't re-enter if the 1st basket is exited by profit-locking after more than 30 minutes, so that everytime 4 conditions are lined-up, the EA has only a 30 minutes window to enter, after that, the EA waits for next "4 conditions lined-up", instead of stupid re-entry.

I also relaxed the profit-locking intervals.

I hope to see feedbacks, I have been reluctant to post EA
since 1. distracting the thread; 2. ppl taking without feedback.......

drag EA to GJ 1H chart; report bugs so that i can follow up.

maybe your right charvo. it is just. i want to do something. and i have not tested it yet.

also i wonder what finimej will come up with as well. he would program somethign this weekend if i recall.

also if Kos his strategy using trend lines to determine breakouts and/or divergence. and if that is not possible to program in. then what to do next?

Sorry to let you guys disappointed. I have not working on the ea. because I consider the EA is done. EA has already the 4 conditions captured. and I consider that EA is done.

But Kos manual trading contains more, like he know when it is ranging, and using trendline, divergence on MACD etc, the EA then can not match up that with human brains.

So I did not work further on this EA.

The EA cannot do it now.

but an EA can do it, if only you list all the rules in text instead of images.

programming experts like robert or zz can deal with these issues w/o a problem.

I know zz. It's like how many times do you/we have to ask for the same thing?

I'm done with this EA unless/until Kos can/will give us his rules as zz has said. If Kos can't give a step-by-step, then we are wasting our time, and I for one am done wasting mine until what has been asked for from Kos is given: Step-by-step. Detailed explanation. As anyone can see, I implemented the 4 steps that I/we were given, and we all see the result.

If kos is getting 671 pips live and we are getting overall losses, then EA is not trading Kos' strategy.

And it's not because Robert or me or charvo or zz or finimej have not been willing to do the coding. zz has said it multiple times and said it best.

If Robert would like to step in and tell us what his recommendations are to save this EA from EA-wasteland and make it profitable, I am all ears. He obviously saw this coming, and that's why he put in what he did.

Of course Robert has rules for what he put in. I'm just asking him to share more information on his strategy if he wants to. I, for one, would like to know if the times he has in user inputs are GMT or EST, along with rules of use/recommendations.
