Oh well, I am watching EU to push GU and AU with it. If EU breaks "00" 1.22 again I will be short all 3

This is a tough one. E/U is on the fence and causing the other two to hold on. Oh well. I grabbed a few from 8566. We will look back in a while and kick ourselves for not foreseeing the outcome. I'll keep watching but I've done well over quota for the day so I need to take a break and head over to the store for a snack. Be back in a little.

I'm thinking of starting a company from some of my forex profits. I'm unsure of the the products I'm going to produce at this point, but I do know they will "Made in the USA". I'm not going to be interested in turning a profit, just breaking even, I think then I can be competative with foreign made product prices.

Thoughts and Ideas?

I'm not trying to be a smartass but why would you want to be in business to break even?

Because I'm interested in bringing some jobs back to the USA. I'm making all the money I need from trading.

Also I may turn a slight profit for safekeeping

Ahh, then why not start a not for profit corp to provide those jobs; get tax breaks and put a little money in your pocket as a salary?

I think a good place to start would be clothing. There isnt 1 pair of clothing on a walmart shelf that I've seen that says made in the usa. A guesstimate average price for a pair of jeans is around $20, production costs probably run at around 3 to 4 bucks at most. I know I can be competative.

Then do it! Just do your homework and develop a business plan that you can keep as a road map for yourself and do it! That's why we live in the USA!

sorry to be a pessimist but even if u do the business at break even, i believe that your prices would still not be competitive....i am from India and i know a bit about the prices and how these things work....

i know that i might be pounced upon by all the people from USA/UK on this but i am just trying to build a good conversation around this...not trying to argue the right or wrong of these....

Clothing = Cotton, Dye, Stitch and emblem. The material costs are insignificant relative to the prices fetched on a large production scale.

ok...here u go....i assume that when u say u want too bring jobs back into USA, i would assume that all materials, machinery, human resources would be sourced from the USA ?

it costs about $5-$6 to make a jean in India (maybe lesser in other places)....that is production cost and includes cost of materials, machinery, human resources etc....so, if they really want to beat you in prices, they can sell it for as cheap as $8-$9 in the USA...
the cost of everything that i have mentioned above is going to be way higher in the USA that you really cant make a jean for $9 even if you gave up your profits....it will cost you atleast $14-$15......thats my theory....

Start a trader friendly coffee shop. So like crazy fast internet. TFT screens so people can plug in their laptops and have 3 screens. Free copies of FT and WSJ. Roast your coffee from green. Have a community Reuters and Bloombeg Terminal or charge a monthly fee to cover the feed costs. Have a switch screen giving live Eq Market prices. Have like 6 Flat screens with Bloomberg TV, MSNBC, etc... I am only saying this because I am addicted to coffee and it would be convenient for me I would go there all the time. Put it in your state's financial district. You'd make bank!
