Hi,

Does anyone have a ZigZag MQ4 indicator that will show the pip value of each previous leg that they can share ?

It does not need to calculate the current leg, just the ones that are completed with the pip value above the tops and below the bottoms.

I have attached ZZLabel that shows the price points of the swings but I would prefer it to just show the pip value of the leg.

The second indi shows the value in pips but I can't change the other settings, is it possible to add the code that shows the pip value in the Channel Indi to the first indicator please?

Intresting indicator, hope that someone here can merge both indicator to let user choose something like below:

Value in Pips: On/Off (*indicate Low/High, e.g. LL, LH, HL, HH etc)
Value in Price: On/Off (*indicate Low/High, e.g. LL, LH, HL, HH etc)
Value in Percentage: On/Off (*indicate Low/High, e.g. LL, LH, HL, HH etc)
Channel: On/Off

Hmm, I wonder will it create a mess in the chart with so many things...

Hi,

the ZZ label indi seems to print price every time the last leg moves, would it be possible to turn this off so that it just prints the closed legs ?

I code an indicator named AddZZLegLength. If you put it on chart, it will draw the length of every closed leg in pips. It's not stand alone indicator. You need to put MT4 standarts zigzag indicator on chart to make the zigzag line visible.

You also need to use the same external parameter (Depth, Deviation, Backstep) for both Zigzag and AddZZLegLength.

Hi Sangmane,

Thank you for doing the indicator, excellent job, it does exactly what I wanted

I did find after running it that the value of the high swings was printing in amongst the price. By trial and error I have found that part of the code and adjusted it to show the price more clearly.

For the benefit of others and any trader in the future, I have attached the new version of your indicator as well as a chart to show what it looks like.

I’ve tried your indicator. It’s so interesting. But It dosen’t show the value at the moment that ZZ appear. The value appares quite late.

Could you please modify the indicator to work as I discribe in the enclosed picture.
In a short word, It will work like this:
-Whener the ZZ appear, It will imediately show the length of the ZZ on the top/bottom of the candle. If the ZZ repaints, It will delete the previous value and show the new value.
-On the other hand, It will has another number on the bid line that shows the distance (in pip) from the current price to the last top/bottom ZZ in realtime. It will move with the bid line.

Thanks for that... is there a possible way to code this indicator into an EA.
I have an strategy on it. I usually trade EUR/USD h4. for length input I use 4. This will give me small turns in prices. There are some very small turns that can be identify when I add another zig zag indicator of length 20. So that I don't get into trades that are just small pull backs... the 20 lenght almost work as the current trend for that swing. I have a sample of this strategy at ewilfredo . com you can pm and I give you the link too.

Hi, I am looking for an indicator which can measure the swings created by the fractals indicator. I came across this thread in my search and was wondering if anyone can code such an indicator similar to what has been done here but using the swings created by the fractals indicator ? Also whether it can show the average swings over a chosen time period.
I would be extremely grateful for any help here as I am a complete techno moron.

Thank you for such an awesome indicator, I've been looking for something like this for months. Is there a way to also have the "Time", # of candles, displayed next to the pips? I've attached an example of what I'm looking for.

The ZigZag is not an indicator per se, but rather a means to filter out random noise and compare relative price movements. The ZigZag can be set to acknowledge minimum price changes and ignore those that do not fit the criteria. The minimum price movements are set in percentage terms and can be based on either the close or high/low range.

Thank you for your quick response as well as your willingness to help. I really appreciate you for helping me. I've attached an example that I hope is much clearer than the previous one.

The format is as such: 82.5 / 15
"82.5" is the # of pips in the swing
"15" is the # of candles in the swing

Thank you again for your help on the ZigZagWithValue_Bars indicator. It’s performing beautifully.

Is there a way to modify the ZigZagWithValue_Bars indicator to perform the following tasks?
1. Paint the last 2 completed swings (A & B) & identify to current swing (C).
2. An alert will be given when the current swing’s (C) candle closes beyond the beginning of the first swing (A).
3. After swing (C) closes beyond swing (A), paint a horizontal trendline from swing (A) to the point where swing (C) surpassed swing (A).
4. Swings (A) & (B) will have their information (# of pips / # of candles) displayed as they are currently displayed on the indicator. Swing (C) will have its information (# of pips / # of candles) displayed on the painted trendline at the point where it surpassed swing (A).
5. The ability to toggle the indicator on / off so that the tasks, as described above, can be performed on the last 2 completed swings as well as on all of the swings. Performing the tasks on the first 2 completed swings is more important than on performing the tasks on all of the swings. I don’t know how difficult this will be to create, so whichever method is easier for you will work just fine for me because I am very thankful for your help.
