GBPUSD WEEKLY PERSPECTIVE


The bullish reversal patterns that led to a bullish close on Friday (refer to pink highlighted area) have lost their power with today’s close below CR. Bears are back in control and ST1 can expect to be tested. The question is, will ST1 hold or give? Should it break, we’ll see WST4 and beyond. Should we get a close above CR again, then bulls will have the advantage once again.

GBPUSD TRADE RECOMMENDATION


We sent out the following recommendation:

GBPUSD:Move buy stop to 1.4349. Place sell order @ 1.4348.Stop @ 1.4532. Target WST4 provided that Cable can break through last week's low @ 1.4250/29. Valid till Tues 5pmEST. (Cable bears have pulled market below R1 and CR again for a possible sell.)

GBPUSD ANALYSIS
(Portfolio delivered 70.9 pip loss for today)


The support (ST1) that was formed by a short lived bullish pattern (refer to pink highlighted candles) sent the market bouncing up again today when bears tested it. In the meantime our sell has been taken out for a loss (which will be reflected in our profit and loss for tomorrow); however market remains below CR and R1 which keeps the bias bearish for another possible test of ST1. Should ST1 give way, then Cable bears will make a run for WST4 and further. Should we get a close above CR and R1, then we’ll have a potential flip to the upside.

GBPUSD ANALYSIS

Daily chart bulls have closed above WCR which is a potential change of trend on the weekly chart to the upside. However, we need a weekly candle to close above WCR to put more strength to the move. Right now Cable is moving into quite a bit of resistance (WRT1/RT1) and we’ll have to see how much momentum daily bulls have. CS is @ 1.44379.

Cable tested WCR today and found support on it creating the expectation that bulls are going to retest WRT1/RT1 and if they can break through, then RT2 is next. CS has moved up to 1.4552.

Resistance ahead (RT1/WRT1) has caused a bounce down; however, as long as CS holds, this bounce can only be considered temporary pause in an uptrend. It’s also finding support on WCR at the moment which means we have CS and WCR holding the market up right now. Should we get a close below CS, then trend will change to the downside.

Daily bears have closed below CS forming CR @ 1.46835 and as long as this level holds, we can expect bears to test ST1 and if that gives way we’ll see ST2 and beyond. It is possible that Cable is setting itself up for another push down.

GBPUSD WEEKLY PERSPECTIVE

During pre-market weekend trading, market gapped down to ST1 and then bounced off it and ended higher today. However, trend remains down with CR moving down to 1.4565. As long as CR holds we can expect a retest of ST1 and if ST1 gives way, then ST2 and maybe beyond. Should we get a daily close above CR, then we’ll see a challenge of WCR zone.

GBPUSD ANALYSIS

Cable completed a bullish flip-flop on the daily chart today (refer to yellow highlighted area) potentially turning the trend up and changing CR to CS @ 1.43449. This is an aggressive pattern because it is against the actual trend; therefore we keep our sell in in case the flip-flop fails but we tighten our stop and place a buy order just above our sell stop. This way, if the pattern does kick in, then it’ll take our sell out and put us into a buy; however, should buy not transpire, then our sell is still safe and could still deliver a profit.

Yesterday’s bullish flip-flop (refer to yellow highlighted pattern) did send the market up but WCR proved to be too strong and market bounced down again. However, CS has moved up to 1.43941 and as long as it holds, bulls could retest WCR and even try to penetrate it. Bullishness is fragile though as WCR is still putting the pressure on to the downside.

GBPUSD ANALYSIS
(Portfolio delivered 354.4 pips for Thursday)


Cable completed a bullish flip-flop earlier this week and we took advantage of it and took profits going up. However we were trading into WCR zone and surprisingly bulls made it all the way to the top of the zone before losing momentum and allowing Cable to collapse and close below the zone again on Friday. We did not enter on Thursday evening because we did not expect market to break a big level like WCR on a Friday. Last week market reversed against the top of WCR as well when it formed a doji and then a shooting star (refer to green highlighted candles on left). This week it has completed a dark cloud (refer to green highlighted pattern on the right) for a potential reversal. However we need a close below CS (1.4503) as confirmation before we can pay attention to dark cloud. Until we get confirmation, today’s red candle can only be considered a retracement in a bullish move.
