GBPUSD WEEKLY PERSPECTIVE

Cable closed below CS today (potentially now CR) and R1 moved down to 1.53925 making daily chart very bearish and creating a possibility that ST1/2/WCS will be retested. Should they give way, then ST3 will become next target.

GBPUSD ANALYSIS (148.4 PIP PROFIT FOR PORTFOLIO TODAY)

Cable bears tested ST1, broke through and then tested ST2, but couldn’t break through. Of course this is also WCS which is a major weekly support and now the question is, how much oomph do the bears have? We got out around ST1 today taking 50.8 pips as profit. CS has now become CR @ 1.52671. Should bears break through ST2, then we’ll see ST3.

(PORTFOLIO GAVE 127 PIP PROFIT FOR THE DAY)

Cable bears peeped through WCS and actually closed slightly below – not a very convincing close, so WCS is still very much in the picture. CR has moved down to 1.51745 and as long as CR holds, bears still have enough momentum to take a plunge to ST3. Should WCS flex its muscle and market closes above CR we will see a consollidation below R1 but as long as R1 holds, we will see another push down.

Cable reached out target of ST3 pierced through it and through WST1 and ST4 but then bouncing back and finally closing between ST3 and the other two. We took profits with the first bounce off ST3 delivering a profit of 155.7 pips. WST1 is a major weekly support and with candle being this tall and it being Friday tomorrow we don’t expect market to break below this area now. Instead we’re expecting a retracement bounce here. However, as long as CR holds, market is very bearish and break of weekly support is not impossible.

GBPUSD WEEKLY PERSPECTIVE

Last week we mentioned that Cable bears could launch themselves at ST3 which it did and not only did it reach ST3 but it penetrated WST1/ST4/WST2/ST5 closing back above WST1. In spite of bulls gapping up during weekend pre-market trading they could not sustain momentum when market opened causing candle to close below CR again however they still couldn’t sustain momentum below WST1 making WST1 a formidable level. CR has become a zone and as long as this zone holds, we can expect another test of WST1. Should WST1 give, then we can see a retest of WST2/ST5 and further. Should WST1 hold we will see a bulls challenge CR and WCS.

GBPUSD ANALYSIS

Cable hammer couldn’t even cause a slight bounce to the upside off of WST3. Bears just kept on going. However, unlike the other two instruments that we trade, today’s market did not close below yesterday’s low which means hammer could still do something but only if we get a close above CR which has moved down to 1.45214. As long as CR holds, we could see a break of hammer low and a reach for WST4 and further.

Portfolio delivered 297.5 pip profit for today

Yesterday I mentioned that the low of the previous day’s hammer was still holding meaning that the hammer could still cause a bounce up. Cable bears tested the low of that hammer today and the hammer did cause a bounce up with market completing a piercing pattern today. This means that we now have a hammer and a piercing pattern, both potential bullish reversal patterns bouncing off WST3 area. However we need a close above CR which has moved down to 1.44501 as confirmation. Until then these two patterns can only be considered a temporary sideways movement in a bearish market.

Last week Cable completed a hammer on WST3, then she completed a piercing pattern which tested the hammer’s low (refer to pink highlighted patterns) and the following day Cable bears tested both patterns lows and had to finally retreat with a bullish close above R1 (moved down to 1.44689) and CR (moved down to 1.44508). This is a bullish suggestion but we need an open and close above R1 and CR before we have confirmation.
