a few notes i'd like to share...

1. everyone has the opportunity to call Go directly and sort their crap out instead of wah-wah-wah-ing on the internets. grab a phone. use it.

2. a lot of people have had issues with go, and it now seems to be cleared-up.

3. if you are still having issues, or are now having issues then you are a special case and not the current norm from what i can tell, so don't lump yourself in with the previous people because that's all done and dusted for most it seems.

4. if you think you are profitable and are being targetted due to this then the likelihood of proving this is small, and the internets aren't likely to be much help. if you really are profitable then you surely have the opportunity to set yourself up with someone 'better'... so why not investigate this.

5. it's laughable to hear of people on the other side of the universe moaning about a 3-5 second delay. If you are trading from Antarctica then expect a little bit of delay, yeah?

6. the internets are serious stuff and e-anger is ALWAYS the solution!

Hello,

We have contacted paypal and they have told us we can only have 1 currency for paypal as they have told us that you can only send to one bank account hence AUD.
Clients can opt for an AUD account to facilitate the use of Paypal or you can use our online multi currency credit card payment system , it is slightly cheaper than Paypal so that might suit better.

Its called " GoMarkets Discussion". So lay off your immaturity and let others voice their concerns. I had a problem with my execution before and now its better , but its still worse then some others. It seems there are still many who are getting delayed execution and platform disconnection. If ure not then why dont you just bugger off or post something of value.
This is a thread for discussing all the pros and cons of brokers. Let anyone who has anything to say--say it. None of your bloody business. So take your arse licking somewhere else.

And just for your info: I am based in Australia and still having a few issues and me personally have called gomarkets many many times to finally get an issue partly resolved.

Seems to be a lot of "Go-bashing" going on in this thread.

Just for something different, I would like to state for the record, that I am very happy with all aspects of their service, including tight spreads, order execution speed, friendly customer service, and being able to keep my money in Australia.

Previously I was using a Canadian based VPS (to save a few bucks) and the ping time to the Go Markets servers was pretty dreadful, upwards of 450ms. Since moving to Crucial Paradigm my ping time is less than 100ms and I have never had an order execution take longer than 1 second.

Hello GoMarkets,

Please provide data for all timeframes so people do not have to do any conversion. The data should be in .hst and .fxt format so that MT4 backtest can read it directly.

We dont rely on promotions like bonuses to attract new clients but for all new clients signing up we do give a new E-book on getting started with meta trader 4 that should prove very useful for new clients.

I have been running several MT4 demo accounts with Go Markets for about a month. I have noticed an increasing number of "Old Tick" errors showing up in my Journal. This is occurring with all the EAs I am running. As a comparison, for the last 48 hours I have been simultaneously running one of the EAs on IBFX as well, and I have had very few Old Tick errors on that platform. I am not sure if it is affecting the EA's ability to operate or not. To this point, the IBFX demo has executed three different trades while the GoMarkets demo has executed none.

I am in the U.S., and I am using a VPS for these accounts. I am planning on opening a live account soon and was hoping to do it with GoMarkets, but these Old Tick errors and the possibility that it is affecting the EAs has me concerned at this point.

I attempted to talk with someone at GoMarkets via live chat, but he said I should email or call regarding technical issues such as this. I emailed over 24 hours ago but have not received any response yet. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Old tick messages are something that will normally occur due to a lag between the end user (the client) and the trading server, but there is a bit more too it. Firstly, if you are using a connection based in the US, it would make sense to get more old ticks when connecting to our NZ-based server than IBFX who has servers in the US because you will have a higher ping rate to us.

The other thing which will have a factor is the nature of the price feed. When MT4 came out all those years ago most brokers were fixed spreads and had slower price feeds (remember the good old days with 3-pips on EURUSD?) so old tick would have been pretty rare. Nowadays with interbank-style price feeds you get a lot more movements, especially during the busy times, which give more chance of an old-tick message.

Whilst these message do not normally interfere with trading, one setting (depending on the EA) that can make a difference is the slippage setting. Allowing for even something like 0.3 pips of slippage would probably help, but of course I am not here to tell you all how to set your EA.

Anyway, I hope that helps, but in reality old-tick is not something that can really be helped. Perhaps trying a Australia-based VPS may help you.

Old ticks happen using australian vps's as well. At least the one that is mentioned on your website. I get that message at times running on my demo or live account.

Unfortunately you will always get them, perhaps unless you were plugged directly into the back of the server! An Australian VPS would probably have less old-ticks than one from the US, but you will still get them. I have tested hyperactive EAs on us and other brokers and at times you get more old-ticks with us, and then at other times you get more with the other broker. It is difficult to quantify and explain when and where these will happen!
Thanks for your help on the phone yesterday Chris, you probably noticed how quick your server responded when we were adjusting my trade. I very rarely get more than 3 seconds delay and mostly instant response.

however I do not understand why I am unable to execute orders after 12pm Friday night Sydney time. Do you shut down the server?

Also when there is volume coming into the market, and I execute an order, there is an order delay of sometimes more than 3 seconds.
I am not talking about slippage here (which I find on the high side with gomarkets btw. - and it is not possible to restrict slippage in the new order window with gomarkets either), I am talking execution delays. My Latency is very good, so it can't be that.

I was looking for a different broker, but wow is it hard to find a decent Australian MT4 broker...

We certainly do not shut the server at 12pm Sydney. You can trade right through to 7am Saturday morning. Even though I am forced to repeat myself again, you will see that basically everyone is getting instant execution. There will always be some clients who have slight delays, but PLEASE call in!

For your information (and for everyone else as well), in order to further improve everything we are currently in the process of moving all of our trading servers from their current location to Sydney and we are to be adding an additional 3 data centres in the next couple of weeks.

In short, there will be no reason for anyone to get a delay unless they are a million miles away or have a poor connection.

As stressed earlier it really doesnt matter to us either way but it has its plus points and minuses for some clients.
Any feedack will be appreciated and we will not change unless we have a clear majority either way and we would provide plenty of notice time and assistance so adjustments could be made.
Please take a look at your MT4 mailbox for the full message.

Dear Clients,

We have had a number of clients enquire about opening our Forex week earlier on a Monday/Sunday depending on where you are located. Currently our week starts at 08:00 Monday AEST (00:00 server time) which is as much as 3 hours after the banks start accepting trades and sending through prices. However, in the early hours of trading, liquidity is at its lowest which increases the chance for wide spreads and more erratic movements. This also ensures the MetaTrader system shows only a 5-day week (Monday to Friday), which is often more favourable for some EAs.

extend hours..i'm sure that people can see the bigger spreads and make the choice if they want to trade..



If the majority of clients prefer we would be happy to open the market earlier on a Monday morning as it makes no difference to us. For your information, if we opened the market an hour earlier, it would mean there would be 6 daily bars on the MT4 charts for a week, with the first bar being only an hour of data.

We would appreciate your feedback so we can if required make any changes based on the majority of client's opinions, and rest assured, we will only make any changes if the majority of clients are in favour of this and also there will be a long notice period in order for clients to make any necessary adjustments.

Please email [email protected] with your feedback so we can ensure the trading week operates favourable for as many clients as possible.

Not perfect...However, there's a big improvement

someone's been playing with the delayed execution button on the Mt4 platform me thinks...

I don't really have any preference on the starting times, but one change that would be nice is if the charts were based on GMT rather than GMT + 2, perhaps you could canvas that, otherwise all ok.
