Still could not make this EA work in five digits broker (FXPro, Alpari).
It worked actually, but never trades. Only receiving trading signal. Need help from someone with code and programming skills here.
Ignored
Yes mine is still not trading on 5 digit Alpari, I'm just getting the pop up alert 'Ma cross up or down' and no trade placed. This is a problem I had months ago when first trying it out and it obviously still persists.

Who's got it working on a 5 digit crook ?

Hi,

I just test the EA on GU. I use M1 and FastMAPeriod = 2, SlowMAPeriod = 3, all other settings are default. I intentionally use M1 and a short period to quickly get trade. And EA open it as per rules. As you can see on the screenshot, the broker is FxPro. I hace checked the EA code over and over, still can't figure out whats the problem. It's difficult to spot the error if I myself can't reproduce the problem.

It's seems ok... After you (Sangmane) updated this EA, it can be backtested in FXPro. But no trades....

No Smiley faces....

I didn't run any other EA or indicator in other screen since this is the only screen.

Is there any basic config or updates log blocking this EA from working?
I read some place that an EA doesnt work we should delete an updates log or something... but already deleted that and still no cigar.

Such a weird

NiceGuy,
Seeing that you can't get that smiley face, there is a chance that you don't enable Expert Advisor.

Pls check Tools-Options, activate "Expert Advisor" tab, tick the check box "Enable Expert Advisor (except for Custom ....)" .

Why dont you guys try EMA (4,8) crossover as an alternative for generating buy/sell signals. Ive tried using it and it is quite effective in 1hour chart. And its just delayed by 1 candlestick.

Well... I am kind of doing small research on that too. I found out that a certain EMA combination will not work for all pairs. This because every pair have their own price movement pattern. Some tends to trend, some tends to consolidate much and another tends to stay as a jumper.

Faster EMA combination will prone to false signal while the slower one tends to get late for party. We just have to find the "right combination" for every single pair. Doing a brief backtest with the latest data available may help us on this.

I always optimizing my EMA combination that runs with my robots at least every Quarter of the year. This process is to adapt my EMA with the latest change in price movement pattern that happens continuously inside the market. That's why I keep being profitable and it's also explain why some robot will work fantastic for some perode of time but become a total failure on the next period. We heard thar happened a lot, dont we?

Try adding a 0 (zero) to SL TP and TS so its like 800/1000/400 instead of 80/100/40.

This should fix it ! I´m testing with Alpari Demo and it works fine!

Well, my demo only has eurgbp and gbpusd. Now testing on those two pairs on a new demo account with 1000 eur, risking 5% on each trade, default settings on everything else. shouldn't the values be 60/40/20 (600.0/400.0/200.0)???

Backtest in FxPro using EUR/USD from Jan. 1 to Apr. 26. 90% modelling quality on H1 chart.

Results: PRETTY DAMN IMPRESSIVE!!! 100% profitable trades

The strategy tester report speaks for itself. I found that either 5/20 MA and 10/20 MA (this one producing a little more profit) are the most profitable and get near 100% hit rate. It's been over 12 hrs of continous backtesting until I came up with these results.

Currently I started forward testing on all 12 major pairs in FxPro with a $10,000 demo acct. which is currently up by $50.00. Let's see where this takes us and encourage everybody to never let go.

Greetings from Mexico!

Great work there...
Please make sure you test the setting with different data from diferent periods of time. Like a year ago or a quarter in past year. If we test the setting with the same data we optimized the setting, usualy the result was too good to be true. I do really hope it will still came up great.. so we are all can save our time.

Btw... No SL? Are you sure?

Well I guess with the EMA cross in H1, looking for 10 pips with no SL is almost a certain hits to me. If you need more than 10 pips, we should just play the EA with another pairs... sounds logic and Pretty good thinking...

Keep up the good work...and keep sharing!

Do a backtest without SL 2008. It will wipe Your account. I think trading without SL always will wipe a account in some time.

Hello San,

The EA you posted won't take trades on an offline chart or a normal chart. Am I missing a special indicator or file? Using Broco trader - forex.com - ibfx

Thanks in advance

Hi, chan012. Looks good.

Can you confirm the version (file name) of the EA that you used, and post the set file that produced these results.

Here you go... I stopped demoing with this to move on to a new type of trading. But if you manage to turn it really profitable, give me a buzz.

I modified the EA with the values I used so there's no .set file required. Just use "as is".

Thanks, chan012. Great up to the end of April 2010, and then (unfortunately) in May/June that version/settings cause the EA to hit a bad patch and it gives back all that's been accumulated.

Question for someone please. I understand t/p and s/l has to be multiplied by 10 for 5 digit. But do all the other settings that have a value in pips have to be changed also? Such as slippage, lookup, minimum cross....etc.

thx,
todd

Hi Everyone,

Thanks Nice Guy for sharing your input on this EA. I like this EA because it gives us the option to test and optimize its settings. But one thing I think it is missing is having a "trade opposite direction" function. Sangmane or any programmer out there, do you think you can put that option into this Universal MA Cross EA so we can test and optimize it? Thanks.
