I'm looking for an indicator that gives an arrow (or vertical line) and a popup/audible alert when two different rsi values cross each other (NOT when the rsi crosses 50, etc). Chart attached of how I use the rsi's and why an arrow/popup/audible alert would be helpful

What I look at is not whether they are above/below 50, but when they have crossed each other and what trend they are showing. In other words, they might both have values above 50, but if the faster rsi has crossed below the slower one then it is saying down. This has been very helpful for me both with good entries and staying out of bad trades, but a visual or audible head's up when they cross would be nice!

I have looked and looked but have not found any indicators that will do this. My favorite rsi indicator is the color rsi one (attached fast and slow versions, only difference is different color line for each one) and I just load it in the same window twice. I did find another indicator that is made to put two rsi values in the same window, but it does not have an alert (also attached). It's not as colorful, but might be easier to make an alert for if anyone knows how to do it

hey celtic..... you have chosen indicators from 2 of the worlds best coders, mladen and kim..... or at least that's my opinion.....

you didn't mention where you wanted the arrows.... on the price chart or the indicator itself..... and if it's all the same to you, my preference would be to write a new indicator rather than modify their work.....

picture example included...... dual rsi celtic.....h

Just now saw your response, FF never sent me the email notice! Your photo looks great, I guess the arrows should be on the price chart? The only reason I'm thinking that is because it's good to really see exactly what the rsi's are doing and arrows down there might block the view. An arrow on the price chart with the audible alert would be wonderful!

A whole new indicator is fine with me, whatever works!

(in fact, I missed a good opening tonight because I wasn't paying attention and I have no alert

hey celtic.... ok, on the chart it is.... should alert and put an arrow on the chart marking the bar in which the cross occured..... it's using only completed bars.....

offset adjusts distance the arrows appear from the price bars.... default is 2, if your using a 5 digit broker might want something like 20 or higher.....

holler back if any changes are needed.....h

Here you go Zip file attached with template, indicators and trade manager ea.

Can be used on any timeframe or currency, but I have the best success with 5M chart, gbp/usd. I generally get all the info I need only from the 5m chart. If it looks really confusing, I'll switch to the 15m or 1hr to see what's gong on. (but if it's that confusing, probably better to stay out, anyway)

Adjust your broker gmt time on news & pivot indicators, and artemis trade manager ea (if used). Set lot size on Artemis ea, must match your actual lot size (lots of options with the trade manager ea, recommend reading attached pdf instructions for it).

First thing I look at is basic trend with the ma ribbons. The ribbons make it very easy to see at a glance. The settings are with a 50ema, 75ema, 100ema and 200ema (purple line). Ideally they should all be lined up, however, at your discretion you could trade if the 50, 75 & 100 were lined up and price was on the correct side of the 200ema, below it for short, above it for long (even if it had not lined up yet with the other ema's). This is one of the instances where you might want to check the 15m chart first.

Price must be above the pivot line for a long, or below the pivot for a short.

The Stop & Reverse indicator must also agree.

Both rsi's must agree. Very important! Use the 42 & 84 rsi cross for entries (upper rsi window) when everything else agrees. Now with the great on-chart arrow and audible alert, thanks to Hayseed!

Use initial 30 pip stop loss and set break even stop after 20 pip gain. (Artemis Sitter is set this way)

My preferred exit is to let it run until price drops a couple pips (+spread) below the 100ema. Artemis Sitter is set this way for g/u (6 pip offset). Usually, the Stop & Reverse indicator has already reversed before this happens. If the Stop & Reverse indicator is still saying to stay in the trade, even though price has crossed the 100ema, you might want to disable the ea and let it go a little longer.

A shorter-term exit is when the Stop & Reverse indi has changed direction.

Another exit is to take profit at one of the Support or Resistance lines shown by the pivot indicator. (Every time I do this, though, I end up wishing I had stayed in according to the 100ema)

Another shorter-term exit is to add a Slope Direction Line indicator (setting of 80) and exit when price crosses that line.

I like the longer-term 100ema exit but the exit just depends on your style of trading and how long you want to stay in.

I think that's everything. Oh, a couple more tips, if your entry candle is very long (like more than 15 or 20 pips from high to low), or if the market is super-volatile, probably better to skip that trade and wait for the next one. Although a lot of times it will still be a good trade even with the large entry candle and then you will kick yourself for not doing it (ask me how I know) Overall, though, probably better to wait if it's a large entry candle (size really depends on which currency it is). Also, stay aware of the upcoming news, which will show as a vertical line on the chart.

It sound like a lot to remember, but it's really only 4 things:

1) trend with ma ribbons
2) pivot line
3) stop & reverse indicator
4) rsi's must agree

and be aware of news and entry candle length

Then let the ea manage the trade after that, unless you prefer one of the shorter-term exits. Don't forget the 30pip stop loss and break even stop after 20 pip gain.

Good evening,
I have also been looking for an Indy with an alert that you just programmed.
I think the modification would be easy.
I would like to be looking at ANY pair in the one minute timeframe.
In the dialog box or in the code be able to specify which two different pairs RSI(gbpusd and gbpjpy)
that I would like to monitor for a crossover alert(audio preferred).
RSI period of 2.
Upper limit of 100.
Lower limit of 0.
Sure hope you could do this for me in Houston.
Contact me if you have any questions.
THANKS!
Mark

hey mark.... not quite following your thinking here.....

are you wanting both the gbpusd rsi(2) and the gbpjpy rsi(2) plotted in the same window on the chart of a 3rd pair of your choice.....

the cross you mention, is this when the cross each other..... if so, which pair is considered the lead.....

in any event, rsi(2) on the minute chart from 2 separate pairs at the same time will be one woolly bugger lookin chart..... they might cross every 30 seconds......

are you sure of this......h

Hayseed,
Looks great!
Thanks!
You have to use it with intermarket relationships and inverse/parallel correlations.
I am sure Sunday night it will be fine, Mark

Hi, Hayseed
I'm very impressed by your kindness and your skills. I'm afraid and I hope not be bothering you and exagerating... but I'm hopelessly looking for an indicator (Alert, Arrow on chart) for a crossing of RSI(n) and an Exponential MovingAverage (m) of the RSI(n). If you could ... it would be wonderful as it's my bread and butter trading process. TIA
In any case I wish you and your family an Happy New Year.

Regards

Hi blackfeet.
I do not have an indi for you but do use an ma of the rsi as my confirming entry.
I use standard rsi14 and sma30 of the rsi. Mainly cable on m5 and m15.
I would like to know what you are using if you don't mind. Another option i am trying out is the qqe cross and most of the qqe indis have an alert function . Not the same but based on the rsi.
Look forward to hearing from you.
Andy.

Blackfeet, any chance you telling us a little more about your strategy I for one would be very appreciative, I previously got a great system on this thread from celticwoman..

Thanks
