A structurely sound IPB needs to have a long nose like a PB but the head needs to have its wick stick out a bit above/below the previous bar. Preferably sticking into a strong confluenced area or strong PPZ level, of course.

Here are more chart examples to study for all you IPB fans, like myself.

(Note : The Daily Usd/Chf was not structurally correct because the Bearish IPB's Close was...

In full agreement with you there, and if you look at Alpari and IBFX its more of a doji than anything. But location off the daily ppz won the day for me on this occasion.
I'll be interested to see what Ghous and Jim thought of it.

I gotta run... (hungry) But I'm so surprised this was missed here.

Check your line charts too for those that do. Wait for these and you make it a lot easier for yourself.

First don't take this the wrong way ....but as I understand and trying to learn according to Ghous and seniors that the IPB on the GBP/USD Daily was not technically an IPB because it did not open and close within the top third or preferably less than the previous bar.

This is not to say that the location and other factors that supported to short the pair were not viable.
Technically speaking you are correct, but then the fact that the close was above (only very slightly) the previous bar's high wasn't a trade breaker IMHO.

Although I would have personally liked a deeper pull back...say to the 1.57, and divergence to support our trade I don't have a problem with anybody going for this trade.

It's just that I haven't relaxed my trade criteria for IPBs just yet...which means I pass on them quite easily.

Nice ride on the bar, those who took it.

In your all the 3 1H charts you posted, I see PB (well almost PB since bar is not completed) touching PPZ or BRN levels but I also see that you are already in the trade (from the Order lines in the chart). Does this mean you do not wait until the completion of the most recent bar ( quite certain to form PBs) to enter?
Is your way touch trade?
If so, what are the factors that makes you believe price will go down (since you are short in all 3 charts) once it touches those important levels?

I think it is me only but most of the time I find it difficult to see your train of thoughts from the charts. Perhaps an arrow on the bar that triggers you next time?

What are the thoughts on this IPB?

My knowledge on IPB's is limited as I have not paid a lot of attention on them in the past.

This is what I think to know so far:
IPB's are best at swing high/low.
Entry should be on the close of the bar.
SL should be placed on the other end of the bar.
Don't hold them too long, a possible target is the other end of the IPB.

Hi All,

Not sure if i miss out anything.... pls advise...

+ daily DBHLC
+ confluence with PPZ
+ space look alright to me
+major trend still down

- short term trend is up

i enter abit late and it already move abt 20pip off previous low. i place my TP at 125 RN + PPZ but miss by 5pips. so is it advisable to place my stop above the RN in future? which lvl will be a better placement of my TP for this case since PPZ refer to an area?

I would also add that on bearish IPBs we would like to have the Close lower than the Open. (on bullish IPB the Close higher then the Open). But much like PBs they are not a trade breaker.

Notice the bearish PB in yellow. Ideally the Close would be lower then the Open on a bearish PB.

Being strict (picky) with IPBs and PBs, this type of structure deficiency in form can make the difference to either take or pass on a setup.

I still watch their behavior since i opened my real account, but am really not interested in gold, oil and dow for trading cause i don't have them on my real account.

Ok i'll narrow down your PPZ to a single point and that is 84.40.

Actullay i wan't oil to go down for my UC long.
