In my opinion, yea you are correct. Whats more it really does not belong in this type of thread. It is a more generic question for the newbie section. As a matter of fact has been answered many times in that section.
But in the spirit if Easter. Probably not too your first part and yes too your second.

why No to the first part?! its true that with average trades you dont get much pips with this trading strategy but once you hit a runner ...

well it still can go down... and it has looong way down if it decides to break

btw may i ask you which pair is this? its probably some stock right? cause i dont remember any fx pair which is around 40.00

yep I can't take the other side.
It's just my style of trading. I look on runners as bonus and my stops are usually so tight I don't get many big runners. I do hope to improve with time.

Hey Scotty

well all really depends on your trading style, if you're one of those who look for only a couple of slam dunks a month you might not make it to 250 pips but does that necessarily mean you won't make it to 10% either. No. You can always position size in a way where whatever pips you make in a month turn out to be enough.

Conversely following a more aggressive strategy might lead you to more than 250 pips a month but again you can position size accordingly.

well I'm sorry you got offended.
It was the first time I ever done that it it's because I know nobody is trading that stock in this thread (at least that I know). So it isn't really that they are missing money. I wanted to see if actually people will ask what pair is that (the 40 level was pretty dumb lol) to show that some of the stocks aren't so different than forex pairs on high time frames. The point is a chart is a chart and if you are trading only daily and higher on 20 forex pairs, why not adding much more to the list? Well for me personally it's because when I first done that I came a cross a few stocks with bad data and thought all of the non forex markets look like that. But some of them are actually good. I know James and Mike always say trade anything you can get your hands on.

I am grateful for the attitude I got from James, Mike and the seniors around here, and I have no intentions to treat anyone else in this thread differently. Sure not waving things in your face.
Anyway, maybe a bad joke. Don't take things so emotional buddy.
So sorry to anyone that got offended and to you Mike because I have posted this in your face.

thanks for revealing the simbol name... lol i was really wondering which pair is that, cause on friday when the markets closed i was viewing all the pair i have on my FxPro to see how the markets closed on the weeklies and dailies and i think i would remember a BEOB that big so i checked it again now and it seems i dont have it on my FxPro.... not that i would take it i was just curious...

anyway for the next weeks im watching what will happen with UJ and GU... imo UJ has a good potential, will see

i know this is a forex thread.. but i know james16 trades futures as well... does he trade them on the daily and 4/hr timeframe?? i understand futures trader trade by the tick... so most of them trade the less than 5mins chart..

dude it's a chart thread you can discuss any thing that contains PIN BAR. I once saw somebody posting a temperature chart. lol.

I myself have been thinking a lot lately about what would be a 'reasonable' profit from trading the higher TF according to the methods that are taught here.
For example let's assume the following:
1) Risking 2% every trade
2) Trade only setups that has reward:risk greater or equal to 0.5 (I know this is not practical as many traders here would sometimes go as low as 0.25 but just to set a reference here)
3) Win rate = 80%
4) 10 trades per month

As far as percentage goes, in the worst case (i.e if all your trades has the minimum Reward:Risk = 0.5), then winnings =8 trades x 0.5 (2%) = 8%.
Loss= 2 trades x (2%) = 4%
Net gain = 8%-4% =4% for the month.

So based on these simple calculation, a 10% gain is difficult to achieve. Furthermore condition 2 and condition 4 in this example are actually not so 'typical' in the real trading world. Why, for really good setups, there are only1 per pair per month as I know from the studies made some members here in the past.

So, it really isn't an easy thing to do in my opinion.
