The fool do you describe your strategy on any page i am reading at page 12 but mustley the discussion is about if you can or cant make 4 procent a day

jgadefelth, I recommend you scan through the entire thread - there has got to be a few good ideas in there with all the poop. I still scalp the same way - but I have cut my trading size down by 1/2 (now at 0.1% of account per pip risked) and I am scaling in 2 or more of those and looking to let them run more. I also make some longer term trades when I don't have time to scalp. There are many ways to skin a cat my friend and the best thing you can do is to try them all and keep only the ones that make you money. Good Luck.

I am looking forward to June when I will probably be out of work again and can go back to scalping volatility for sick profits....

I think we all go through those times when we feel we should concentrate more on trading and put less time into "posting". I'm somewhat hopeful that even if The Fool doesn't post as often, he will still be a member of the community.

Through all the repeated topics, profitable and unprofitable times, and eclectic posters... Forex Factory is still a community of traders. No one understands what we go through more than this community.

I'm burnt out on talking about trading, though. The focus now is on rolling trading into a business that can generate some serious returns. I will chronicle that process here & elsewhere on FF aa it goes forward. Another year will tell the tale.

there has not been an end - I am still trading very part-time. But I liquidated most of my account last month, mostly because I simply needed the cash flow and I knew I would not be able to trade fulltime for several months. When I did that I was up about 30% overall in about 10-11 months of trading. At one point I was down 87%. In the last few months I realized I could trade with consistent success. I more than doubled the account in the last 2 months of active trading, ending in early February...

Currently I am more or less in limbo since my work hours do not gibe well with the trading schedule I like to keep.

I am not sure what I really want to do. I have people who will give me money to trade today if I wanted to go down that path - but I would have to get set up to do that - including getting registered with the CFTC as a CTA, setting up an institutional account - the amounts of money are significant enough to require segregation in an insured account - and these people would not have it any other way nor would I. I need to spend some time/money with the attorney to get all that set up. The institutional account is not a big deal if you have CTA registration and that is just a matter of passing the Series 3/34 exams. All of the above is more than likely going to take me the better part of 2010 to work into.

I do know that I am not interested in trading part-time if I am going to go that way. It'll have to be all or nothing - and that is the hardest part. Because if I let my other business languish, it will wither - that's the nature of a service business.

Sometimes I think I'd be crazy not to jump at the chance to trade for a living. And if I could swing a big enough line - and I think I could work toward 7-figures in the first year - then 4% a day? omg please! - 4% a month would be plenty. Then also I have my doubts: maybe I can't really pull it all off, and the fact that the derivatives trading regulatory environment is in a state of flux does not help...

So. Most men never really dream large enough, never really reach beyond their grasp. I have to decide if that will be me with trading.

ain't that the truth? What's the worst that could happen anyway - I lose a big wad of investor money & get thrown in a minimum-security joint? BFD, so I will work on my squash game.

It's a tough call.


Trading should always be secondary to a real guaranteed income, it's a tricky business, whats working for you today might be totally useless tomorrow and you've seen how quickly you can lose 87% of your account.

That's why I've not traded in 2 1/2 months, got work lined up so taking it, when work slows down I'll rotate back into trading again, to fill in the time if nothing else

Making money for others increases the stress especially if you have a bad day or 2, I'd avoid if I was you, if you can double your account every 2months then do you really need OPM ?? I'd say not, it sounds better but there going to take most of the profits anyway so why bother.

What ever you choose mate, good luck!! You'll be fine no doubt!!
