I am curious, does anyone just leaves orders at determined S/R areas and lets them run to loss or profit with this strategy?

Yes, by and large that's what I do.
Takes a lot of belief, and also a very firm plan of action for all(most!) eventualities, but keeps things nice and simple.

Interceptor, if you leave order and let it run, what plan exactly ? It is just like a roll of dice
like today traded G/J and E/J and G/CHF. New York time. went short, then long then again short. snow, how it can be done with limit orders?

well maybe your strategy can't be executed with limit/stop orders. others can...

it all comes what you're comfortable with and what makes %.

I did not try to diminish what Interceptor is doing. It just looks completely impossible to me to leave those limit orders just based on S/R to change directions as market changes direction. there is only probabilities.
To leave limit order at some S/R level and leave it like this win or lose is ok, but when changing direction I doubt this whole system can be done by leaving limit orders to go long there and go short here and then again go long there.,
May be EA, but EA?

well, look this way:

you mark key S/R levels where you think price might turn. You get experience and your win rate is 5/10.

You take trades which possible RR is 1:3.

you put limit order, set SL, set TP. After order is triggered you just update your SL according to your strategy.

so lets take average scenario(1% risk per trade):

you lose 1, then you're down 1%.
You win 1, you're up 2%.
You lose 1, you're up 1%.
You win 1, you're up 4%.
etc.

for the matter of example i don't take into consideration positive or negative compounding. BE or partial wins...

try to do it with 5 consecutive lossed and 5 wins after...

thats 1 of billion ways to be positive. You can have hit rate of 8/10 and RR 1:1 and its great!

you can trade 5min chart or daily. Put indicator or spaghetti on the screen... what matters that you're positive.

I take initial fading blind entries at upper, and lower, level.
If a level break is confirmed then I get out of the trade, either at bar close, or at my 'nightmare' stop. If price then gradually moves away and then loops back around to the level, then I'll usually take a reverse position to my original. If, however, price sticks around my level after I've already closed the position on the wrong side of my level, then I'll watch for a nice price trigger, usually an OB, to resume in the original entry's direction.
If price triggers me in and then goes in the right direction, I move to breakeven at worst when 40 or so pips up.

Steve had posted a while back the percentages on what type of trades worked.
The 40 sl and 20 tp had a 84% success ratio so I gave it a try and to my amazement most of the time it works. You just have to make sure that the levels are important and have a greater chance of a decent fade. My problem is other strategies not working for me so I am going to now try exclusively the above strategy on as many pairs as possible. I won't be in as many trades but the Win ratio is much more important in my humble opinion. Would love to hear what you think about this method.

have you read the thread? there are enough examples in first 20 pages, not mentioning the rest of the thread... its just examples!

Hi there,

It pains me to have been reading this excellent thread for a couple of weeks now, and hardly ever see the total number of pages increase anymore. I hope this thread hasn't died yet, because imho, this one is up there along with J16 as one of the best on FF. It would be a real shame to see this thread slide away into oblivion.

Anyway, I'm currently demoing no brainer trades. As a matter of fact, I just went long swissy off of an obvious S/R, which was also the 62 fib retracement of the previous swing. If it gets up there, and depending on the prevailing momentum and whether I'm still in front of the computer, I might flip to the short side around 1.0673, which is an S/R, and of course one of those buckets.

The first 400 pages of this thread were superb, hope the rest will be as well. Time to get reading again. Bye for now.

Good post and a good trade, in harmony with the thread. According to my feed 1.0673 might only be a minor resistance but who knows?

Have you been reading the James 16 thread in the commercial section? Alive and well and well worth a read in my opinion, especially if you like this thread.. Also there might be a typo with your fib? 38.2?

Anyway I have learned a lot here and I subscribe because I also look forward to contributions, even though I don't trade "to the pip" like BRV.

Yes, as a matter of fact, I have indeed been reading J16 over the last couple of months. In fact, since learning of its existence via Trader_Dante / the_wizard over at T2W, I've gone through the first 1,700 pages, as well as keeping up with the current affairs since page 3,250. I've also seen all the guest videos at least a couple of times, so I'd say I'm well informed about the principles of James et al..

Don't know what you're referring to as far as the fib number is concerned. I've included a picture below to show you what fib I meant. If there's still anything that isn't clear, by all means, please say so.

Anyway, while I was having dinner and working my quads and abs in the gym, my trade got stopped out for R:R of 5. Not a bad start. Though admittedly, I also lost 1R when I tried going long swissy from the 50 fib a few pips higher. But that's just the cost of doing business.

As far as the significance of the 1.0670 area is concerned, I beg to differ. I think it's actually a pretty significant ppz (to use the J16 term for it), with a little fib confluence to boot. Still, swissy isn't really trending, so whether it's going to reach that area, and if it does, whether it's going to bounce or break through, I don't know.

On a more general note, shouldn't this thread be located under Trading Systems instead of Interactive Trading? I mean, this is a more comprehensive method than e.g. Jankone's/Ryanmcd's M5 method, yet that thread is located under Trading Systems. I should think that one of these two threads is wrongly located on this forum.
