The .set extension is not on the list of known file types at FF, so you correctly get an "Invalid file" error.

To upload a .set file add .txt onto the end of your file so you get something like myfile.set.txt. Then whoever downloads it just removes the .txt

I found that 508c is still heavily depending on customized indicators and thus put a considerable burden on PC computing resources. you need to have all those indicators in expert folder too, and you DO?

If you mean FFCal, KG RS group, RSI_BB, Stoch_RSI oscillator and maybe a couple more, yes I do

I´m running it on a VPS together with other 5 or 6 platforms, and no worries so far.

when we not trading, would you mind answering a question from me a amateur? your professional experiences and insights may significantly affect our directions and mindsets.

i used to hear something told by a trader from Wall Street. he's trading energy, stocks, and currencies using those mechanical systems in a hedge fund. he does not trade manually. 2008 he made 20 million for the fund. this is his background.

he told me, nowadays in FX market, a simple system cannot make money (well, maybe he added 99%). usually a profitable system has to be one with very complicated set of rules for entry, supervising opened position against price action, and exit.

by simple, i understand, he means those system, e.g. on FF, you see many system like " when stochastic go OB, and XXX turn green, and YYY have a red dot, then you enter a sell. 50 tp, 100 sl ". These days, when i see such a description of the system, i usually just skip it and never look back.

now I feel maybe i am wrong (the trader is wrong), maybe a simple system can be profitable (don't laugh at me, i know what kiss means, but i don't believe it.). this is because Holy Grail v1.6 seems to give good results. however, HG v1.6 is not really a "simple" system, since it has multi timeframe and variable TP/SL. it seems that you are also making it more complicated now. that's why i am asking this question. Do you also believe in more complicated mechanism and more comprehensive supervision by the EA?

charvo - what did you do to THG 1.6 to modify it. I have not had much luck with the original - but i guess your version is doing ok.

Not really sure how to answer this but here goes....

The system I use on a Daily basis (crypto) uses and analysis the following information.

1. DOW
2. FTSE
3. OIL
4. GOLD
5. US INDEX
6. NIKKI
7. Pattern logic on Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly TF's
8. News indexes.

The system then displays a list of currencies with a signal against each one. This will be BUY, SELL, CLOSE, HOLD. It is then down to me to accept its recomendations or override them.

The reason why the final decision is left upto the trader is because we will often get phone calls/emails from our different traders around the world with information which the system cannot easily understand.

Sometimes the information comes in seconds and I have to make a split second decision if the system is correct or not.

To answer your question, then no I dont believe a simple system can work long term in the fx market.

Markets actually go through simple patterns but what changes is when and how often they occur.

Many thanks! It is ultimately up to the trader then.

My guess is programming is only a tool driven by a person. The pursuit of an automatic EA may be rewarding, but is definitely painful.

i demo HG v1.6 for 3 weeks, it has not caused serious loss or drawdown so far. just last week it didn't produce as much profit as before.

HG v1.6 charvo, i used same version as i uploaded before, 2 weeks are ok, not quite impressive as HG v1.6, but similar, then last week, not sure why, it gave no trades.

enter: using StochRSI on 5min + KG_RSI + trend determination (2 EMAs) of HG v1.6; no sl no tp;

for opened position: MPTM put 40 SL for all pos. (Hey, Steve, this MPTM seems #1 Utility programm on FF now, you should upgrade it and sell it, hohoho)

exit: if trend determination of HG v1.6 OR KG_RSI contradict the open positions.

this is incredibly simple to me, sort of. but think about its fundamental logic is cut loss short (40 SL), and let profit run (unless trend reversal and KG_RSI run against). but...... still can't believe this is profitable...... i'll demo it this coming week along with Monica.

Hedge funds and other financial institutions do use fully automated type systems based on very small profit percentages of < 1% per day.

But they tend to have > 400 Million USD of funds to trade with.

What their systems do (complicated) is hedge currency, gold, oil, stocks, futures, debt, gilts etc.

There is a hidden TP that appears on the screen (basket profit target), so it lets profits run to a certain extent and then closes all trades with the basket´s pairs, what in the modified version means taht if it opened up to 2 trades with the same pair (with different entry times/prices) the EA closes them both when the profit target is reached.

It has been profitable for the last month and using only GJ and UJ; as they say, past performance doesn´t guarantee future performance, and one single month is far from being a long-term testing period. It was also on a demo account.

how did you manage to ensure that 508 traded on gbpjy and usdjpy only? I thought we placed it on a usdchf and it automatically grid traded pairs...?

LOL, don't get me wrong, i think it is highly promising even with only 1 month demo, because:

trading frequency is not low
drawdown is not high

these 2 are more important than length of time. that's why i'm going to demo it too.

What is the likelihood you will add a setting to automatically establish LongTradesAllowed and ShortTradesAllowed based on the trend for those of us (like me) who are not able to always be at the PC to set the current manual settings to not trade against the trend in the case the BOJ does not intervene?

I just set the EA to allow Trade Long or Short as desired, under the common properties.

You probably have a custom indicator missing. I don´t have time now to look for all of them, maybe later. Anyway, search Max´s posts. He posted all of them somewhere.

Just to prevent any confusion with Max´s version, it is 508b (not 508c).

What he wants is short only first wave long only 2nd wave if both set to true might get a long 1st wave or short in the 2nd and those are the 2 ways I've had losing baskets Must change settings manually after 1st wave
Also have not had a basket since 3-24?????
