Can someone tell me how to find out the magic number that the EA is using on any particular chart, I'm using a trade analyser and need to enter the magic number in the parameters of the analyser. I've already tried 600000 and 600001.

For the EAv1, you can find it at line 52 in the setings file, seek for the following:

BaseMagicNumber=600000
TradeComment=[THV]
ClassicSL=1
HighLowSL=0

I think that for each timeframe a different magic is used. For sorting out trades by magic, for best results, try changing the BaseMagicNumber first two to three digits for each currency you may test.

Thanks for the reply Aimak, as you say 600000 is the base magic number and although I have only one chart open with THV EA loaded 600000 is not recognised by the trade analyser, I'm now going to try changing the magic number except for the last digit.

Hi,
I've downloaded and installed EA v1.0 from page 125 but am encountering some trouble with it.
After install I tried to adjust some values in the ea inputs tab but it wont' keept the changes.
What am I doing wrong? Do I have to adjust something else before I can adjust values in the input tab?

Please help since the standard values do not work, I only have negative transactions...!!!!

p.s.: I've verifyed - Tools Options Expert Advisors and make sure that “Allow
DLL imports” is enabled and “Confirm DLL function calls” is disabled

I've now found out how to get the magic number, and in case it's of use to anybody else you simply hover your mouse over the symbol that appears on a chart when the EA opens a trade, a box appears with details of the trade and the magic number used also appears in brackets.

hi plateman,
i've got some trouble with this ea. when trying to adjust the settings in the ea property input tab, it doesn't save them. it looks like it changes them, but upon re-opening the properties, they have returned to default.
i've been trying to figure out what is causing this but without success.
maybe you can help me with that.

Hi I'm trying EA v.08 from the 1st page ...

I put the indicators to expert/indicator folder, the THV EA v.08.ex4 to expert folder.

And the last one the templates file THV EAv.08.tpl to template folder.

Then i started metatrader, loaded the template .... then here comes the error... the metatrader became not responding and the only thing to do is ctrl alt del then remove it from task manager.

then I could not enter metatrader at all.

anyone experienced this? please advice me.

Rengel, have you tried saving the EA settings? You find the "load" and "save" buttons in the EA input tab. After adjusting the settings save them in the Expdert>Presets folder. Everytime you add the EA to a chart you only need to load the settings file.

I think this is the only way as the EA cannot be edited. Also, when closing MT4 the settings of indicators and EAs for all opened charts with be saved into the current profile. You may create new profiles each with a different set of opened charts.

All right, think I found the problem. It's all about getting the point, hehe.
I assumed that by double clicking on thv v1 ea in the navigation pane I could set the values for the EA and have them applied to all open charts, but nope, that doesn't work.
To edit/change settings I have to edit them on the EA of an active chart, then save as "name", and then load this new sets file for each open chart.
So now that I know how to keep my personalized settings, I finally can start fine-tuning the settings to see if this EA can be left running and generate some benefits.
BTW, If I'm not mistaken the EA standardt settings are of no good what soever.
I've tried to create the typical THV V3 entry and exit set, quite complex. I ran it last nite, but the sl was to high, changed it to 20 pips and am running it now again to see if I get any better results.
BTW trading gbp/jpy aud/jpy is no good, their entry fees are so high that it is hard to make positive pips with those.
- I run my set on 2 computers same forex groups but different tf (5 and 15m) to see if there is a difference in success rate.
Now it's wait and see tonite (Europe) if things went well.

Found the set file myself. I added it.
Vitaly seems to have used it but I'm not sure if it worked well. Some people seem to load old set files as is into v1 others convert, but as far as I get it, old set files worked well in old versions, but not anymore in v1.
To bad. Mabye we can unlock the old v0.7 from being expired and start re-using it?

Yes its possible, bad news is its not backtestable (if thats even a word)

I just took a "scalping" set to demo after backtesting really well on GBPUSD and EURCHF. It runs on m1 with custom trix settings, 17 and 35.

How's the testing going? I've been running 3 back tests with cable m1 not modifyed at all on eur/usd m1 h1 and h4 with super results.
Most gains positive, only few negative ones, but some of the quite high. Nevertheless quite good overall gains.
I like it. Right now running forward test on m1 with lots of diff currencies open to see how it will behave.

Hi folks,
I'm having great fun trying out different .set files, and changing around settings within to see what happens.
I've done one from or based on cablem1, changed some settings and did get some very nice results on m1 tf.
I've added it here. 3 negative trades out of 68, several 0 trades, rest positive ones.
I've ran a backtest using the eur/usd from 15 march till 24 march.
- weired - on backtest it gave great results, but ran it 2 days forward and resluts where worse than original.
- needs more adjustments

I've tried your settings on FXPro back, everything same and here are 1m and 5m graphs. Something wrong at the end.

Hi,
the set doesn't work on forward testing. The drop on the end when back testing is caused by a forced close of the last positions, change dates and you'll see that if at end of test period no tx is open no drop on close. So I ignore the drop, since in real live you don't force end a tx...
Anyways, forward testing didn't work, try it and let me know if it worked for you.
