Excuse me for barging in but I could not resist. I have said it before and I am being totally honest when I say what I have found here in FF has amazed me with regard to the goodness of humanity. After all we are supposed to be greedy capitalists thinking of nothing but profit through speculation by using our capital (regardless of the size of that capital ranging from the city of London Banker with a £100K account to a Student in India with a $50 account and many in between). But what you have here is a large number of people from all walks of life, all ages, all over the world, helping, guiding and assisting others without asking or expecting anything in return.

On the 5min Momo it seems from my demoing that if a trade was closed fully in 1 hit there would be a better return of profit.

What seems to happen nearly every time is, for example a 0.1 of a 0.2 lot is closed for 15 pips but the second 0.1 rarely produces any significant pip value.

Due to my understanding of the strategy and studying the charts there is rarely a sustained move in the right direction on this time frame so a quick in out strategy would probably produce better results. ( A kind of scalp really ) and use the 2SMA MACD to look for a more sustained trade direction.

What I wonder is can extra user inputs be added without too much work (I have no idea about coding but it gives me a headache looking at it ) so that it would allow more flexibility i.e full close, variable TP/SL, etc, depending on the way the market is behaving at the time.

I do realise that the MPTM can be used, but just for idiot proofing I think it would make it a bit easier for amateurs like me to keep an eye on things without making mistakes. One slip up is very dangerous !!!

I like one chart, one bot, one setting, repeat, repeat, repeat, but maybe that's just me.

Please forgive me if I'm talking sh.1.t but any comments will be welcome (any are better than none )

I am not going to add any extra inputs for now. I am attempting to make these robots a faithful representation of existing strategies. I shall add inputs if there turns out to be a need for them over time.

This version fixes some bugs - humdingers, so this is an essential download.

So far as I can tell the robot is:

 

  1. spotting the trading opportunities. This needs confirmation from the observant here, but the trades it has taken have mostly been successful.
  2. closes half the trade and moves the stop to breakeven. Here also, whether this is exactly correct needs confirmation.

We just need to see if the bot closes a trade at 50 sma +- 10

Enclosed is a gif of a guppy long trade on a 4 digit crook. Alot of distance between the 50 sma (blue) and the trade.
Entry looks pretty good......but take a close look at the information readout: pending pip distance and pending trades expiry time and it says it is only taking long trades and as luck would have it that is all I've had(2).
I've loaded Swingmans Macd True Colored. I hope that is what the bot is looking for.
I'm headed back to my Java beans.....

Astral,
On this topic I found out that the biggest RAM-eaters are charts with their number of bars in chart/in history set to the maximum. Also, extensive use of the strategy tester tends to create huge log files, running into the Gb++ size. Deleting them every now and then saves a lot of discspace.

I'm sorry Steve, I'm not asking you to add extra inputs at all at this stage of the game, I'm asking whether anyone else feels that a modification of the strategy (as per how the market was behaving !!! ) by users would produce better results over a decent run of time. I know mine would have shown a better outcome.

I am a big fan of the BS/KL partnership strategies but like anything else in this game every strategy needs to be dynamic and go with the flow.

Has anyone noticed the results of partial closings show less pips than if there was a full close ? Obviously a loseing trade will always end in a full close and that is that. The odds seem to favour full close on my charts. Anyone else ?

I don't wish to cause offense and am grateful for everyone's input on these pages, I'm just trying to be of some use.

I'm going to load your latest multi pair bot for next weeks trading and see how we do.

Hi Steve,
The jumping stop did not work on that guppy trade in the above gif. That trade was up over 125 points at one time and it never moved. It also has a faulty info readout......

That is just a display thingy; my usual thing - copy/pasted and forgot to change relevant code. I will correct this in the next update.

Hehe. Hardly anyone reads the screen info my bots present. Guess how I know?

Sorry Steve, the "faulty info readout" belongs to the jumping stop display at the bottom. The bot ended up taking 5 long trades with 2 going into the second position......Have a great weekend...

Cheers. I forgot to adapt the js input for normal 4 digit crims. This is fixed in the coming update. Don't promise the js function is correct, but the display will be.

I have looked through the code with fresh eyes and zapped a few bugs, including some not spotted yet by you guys because the conditions that would have made them apparent have not occurred. Any I have missed will surface at the start of the trading week.

The biggest feature still to be tested on my demo is the order close function. The demo is running on my coding machine and I switched it off at midday yesterday because I had to go out. I returned to half a dozen trades nicely into profit, but could do nothing with them as the crim had shut up shop for the weekend.

A big thing to note is this: although I had included the OnlyTradeAtNewCandle input I had not added the code to enforce this. Any trades taken by the robot on Friday were taken as soon as the setup appeared; your OnlyTradeAtNewCandle was ignored.

Converting this robot to multi-pair trading has been horrible. Once it is correct, converting it to 5mm will be easy, so we should have this by the middle of the week.

The multi-pair has resumed seamlessly where it left off on Friday and closed half the open trades that moved so well into profit.

The remaining test of the nuts and bolts is whether it closes the trades when the market retraces inside the SMA.

I've a problem with the new multi pair MA MACD. I loaded it up in the early hours and it placed 2 pending orders ok which were eventually cancelled (Timed out ) but at 09.54.06 it tried to place an order on EURCHF and returned an error MA MACD EURCHF 5 order send failed with error (130): invalid stops. By 12.02.58 it was still getting this error. I tried reloading the EA and still I am getting it.

I changed order type ie from send market order to pending order and vice versa and both together but to no avail. Has anyone else had this problem this morning ? and if so how do you stop it ?

Any help much appreciated.
