seems like having strengthinprofit close is a must to keep those baskets moving rather then waiting for the whole batch to close at a profit.

I noticed the aforementioned crash & burn took on a large stopout. I'm new at FF but have been diddling with the KG Range strategy for a bit. However today I fired up an Alpari(US) 100k demo account and loaded the Range Ea with just default settings (except for the $ CurrencySymbol and CriminalUS=true). I'm also running the MT4Ticker at 400ms. EUR and JPY baskets opened up trade lots between 5 and 10. Within a half hour 5 stopouts showup in the acct. history (eg. so: 99.6%/97485/97838) and down about -$4k. Am I missing something here or is this just a happenstance of a startup drop in equity? I'm reading and rereading until I get brainfuzzed, but if I've missed something in all the threads I'll take my lashes and apologize in advance.

I ran a demo with CriminalUS=true and did not do well, however, with CriminalUS=false it does wonders:-

I was not able to post anything in the Scooby BOJ bot thread. So I posted here. To automatically detect next Japanese public holiday so that we don't accidentally forget, you can insert following function into your BOJ bot:

Holy frijoli! Just reviewed your stats, that's really an uphill chart! What broker are you running that demo on? Also, you previously mentioned you were running both the Range & Original strategy. Are you running BOTH of these on your own cpu (that's got to be a load on the processor) or on an offsite server? I'm going to let my 100k acct run for awhile with CriminalUS=true since that's how I would eventually have to trade live. One final note: looks like your BIG tp's come from the JPY basket, whereas some here turn that section to false...lesson learned >>> let it roll as is.

All running on Alpari UK demo on a dedicated hosted server (Quad core, 2GB RAM). I tried VPS but the ones I had were short of CPU grunt so took the plunge on a dedicated server and never looked back since. I don't get a decent reliable internet connection where I live so I have to look elsewhere.

Good luck with the CriminalUS=true as my experience was not good and led to a loss.

I've just looked at my latest stats:

Balance:128,474.57
Equity:92,515.59

I might make the 100K Equity soon. Now, if only it was this easy on live ...

A word of caution, I did notice earlier this week that I had a balance of 78K and Equity of 28K so you do need enough capital to handle the DD. I'm thinking of reducing the lot sizes by 10 times to allow for a more steady increase and decrease in equity.

My apologies for not responding before now - I had not seen your post here until tonight. You are now added to my 'buddy' list and so can post in the scoobs thread; I would be an idiot to ignore someone who can come up with an idea like this one.

I am not adopting this one only because: it would involve me in extra coding I do not feel like bothering with right now; anyone unable to remember to update their Japanese public hols should not be trading the robot.

On a general note:

Anybody experiencing stopouts here has not read the thread properly and is not using the robot properly.

These people should take note of my warning in post 1.

Apparently, whenever I say what I really think of an individual newbie contribution here, said newbie complains to Twee cos his ickle wickle feelings are hurt. Twee then whinges at me. Ok, so he actually only did this once, but it pissed me off given the amount of time I have donated to this thread free, gratis and for nothing.

So, this post is not aimed at any particular individual. Nor does is reflect my actual thoughts, which are somewhat more blunt than those I express here.

I will say this, though:

Only an idiot who has not read the thread properly actually manages the near-impossible feat of losing money using the Range robot. Hats off to said idiots, this is a major achievement. Well done. If you have managed this, then do not trade forex with live money; you will lose the lot.

Very impressive work here. I'm not too sure how I ended up reading this thread but I'm glad I did.

I will be reading and testing this on odl and ibfx accounts, I have done some manual long term trading using relative strenght in the past. It's nice to see somone dedicated their own time to code the concept.

scooby has some very intersting ideas to share... thanks for the wisdom
