Steve, thanks for that. The problem as I see it, is that the Bot is not looking for a cross of the zero line.

e.g. the price is below the 2 sma's and the bot "seems" to check whether the MACD is neg, if it is, it sets an order. It doesn't look for whether it has crossed from positive to negative within 5 bars. Vice Versa for the long trades.

This is common to both the 5 momo as well, but thats for the obvious reasons.

yes same here, using MACD TRUE setting 12,26,9 supplied by swingman. All other settings are default.

Also noticing on the 5 momo is that it is opening the same trade twice, the second roughly a minute after the first.

I just had another idea.

Previously, at the start of each new candle, the robot sends a call to the Macd function. It took a reading of the open/close of the candle for comparison with previous ones.

Perhaps this gives a false reading for the comparisons, so I have adapted the logic:

 

  1. New candle opens so:

    1. look at the Macd reading at the close of the previous one.
    2. use this reading for comparison with the close values of the previous 5 candles.

This means the robot is looking at 6 candles altogether - the previous one for a comparison value, then the previous 5 to look for a cross of the zero line. It is the work of seconds to change this to the previous 4 candles if you prefer.

See if this one does the trick.

Good Morning Guys
I'm trying to catch up. Both my bots are in profit this morning and I'll check my entries. I ran over night with pending orders turned off because I didn't get a chance to check Steves update after I installed it.
My MACD is default settings (MACD True Colored from Swingman)
Is it possible the pending orders might make the entry wander around alittle?
I'm going to get some coffee and check each pair.

Fantastic work. Kudo's to you.
I say this due to the fact that i have been a subscriber to BS and KL for 2 year now and last week had the great idea to find someone to write the code for the 60 min moma combo

And here you guys are, already getting it going.

So i eagerly volunteer to test both the 60 min moma combo and the 5 min momo.

I thought i would demo them on just 4 charts EURUSD, GBPUSD, EURJPY, GBPJPY so there would be plenty of range and the spread is no more than 4 pips.

This will be my first experience with EA's. So far so good.
I have loaded them from the 1st thread but no signals as yet. Am also using MACD True.

Do i need to change anything from post 1 or should i be good to go?

Thanks for all the effort you guys have put into this.

Welcome, it is very good to have you aboard because it gives us a direct channel to Boris schlossberg. I hope you have been reading the earlier posts. As you can see there has been some discussion as to what Boris had in mind when he said so and so (e.g. 10 points for candle to close or as soon as the price moved 10 points, etc). May be now you can ask the man himself and clarify some things, once and for all.

At present Hiredwhip, Sundog and I are testing these EAs. Your input would be highly priced as well. Speaking for myself, at present I am testing the 5min momo and 2SMA MACD. The latter seems to be more promising.

I have traded the 2ma macd a few times and it's a fantasic set up. But i also miss catching so many of them that i thought an EA would be great to alert me. I believe the 2ma macd is Kathy Lien's not Boris's set up. But they are all in theie ebook.

I'm not sure about the 5min momo...probably Boris's.
Sure i could email and ask.

The weekly RSI Rollercoaster also is a great setup thought that one takes forever for a signal, as you can imagine.

In regards, to the 5 min momo. I have just re read the strategy and personally i would not wait for the candle to close before entering on the next candle. Often the move is missed when the momentum is strong. The price just keeps going.

I read it as go long 10pips above the 20EMA. (just that) whatever the candle is
It is very much about the MACD to show momentum. This is a momentum strategy.
I haven't traded the 5 min momo. But someone in the chatroom had mentioned that they had some good trades from it.
Like you, i believe that the 2ma macd strategy is fantastic.

Still haven't had any signal triggers yet.

Good Morning All,
Rough night for both bots. Both acc down. After checking pairs 5 min momo entries look good. Combo bot entries are moving around and most are very late. Some are not legal with no cross being made on the MACD.
I'm still running both bots with pending orders off to concentrate on the entries.
How is everybody else doing?

Im just running the 5 momo at the moment. I am suffering some pc memory problems (read not enough) so I am not pushing it.

For what its worth, since this week, i have had 30 trades, 20 wins, and 10 losers. but thats just over break even.

Hi Gents

Or should I say lady and Gents, since we have Patanya from down under who seems to have joined our ranks (or at least I hope so since we are short of CPU memory). I do hope that between us we can obtain some meaningful results in order to find the optimum settings. What is for sure is that there are more winning than losing trades.

As you can see from the past posts Steve`s initial understanding and his first attempt at 2SMA MACD was close of the candle and opening of new candle. After carefully reading schlossberg and studying the charts in his book we came to the conclusion that a new candle was not necessary as long as price had moved 10pips.

My results with MOMO are very much in line with yours. With regard to 2SMA MACD, I cheated a bit. On one platform I updated the file and on another platform I carried on with the old version (I even missed the corrected version posted Thursday night and by Saturday Steve had updated once again with the bar closure function) in conjunction with mptm settings 20pip breakeven and TS 30pip.

The new version is not doing so well, however, the OLD version + mptm is doing very WELL. I just wanted to wait till the end of the week to ensure it is not just 2 / 3 day fluke before posting results. Let’s keep our fingers cross.

After reading sundog's last post I tried an experiment and shut off all other bots I was testing. Ran just these 2 (5 min momo, macd combo) because I have been getting a trade context is busy error every now and then. Giving them the full power of the processor just straightens out the entries and increases the number of trades.
I'm not going to do any more adjusting for 2 more days and see how full processor power works on them.
These 2 bots are processor intensive and will need all the help they can get!

Astral, I'm running an older version of macd combo bot on D1 charts and it also does well. It's date is 2/13....I'll attach it if you want it.....

YES it does. If the results keep going the way they have been for another couple of days then we can ask STEVE to look into ways of making the BOT less CPU hungry. Since I am a totaly illiterate when it comes to coding I have not got a clue as to what is possible and what is not.

For instance I do not know if it is possible to have one EA on one chart looking at multiple currencies (e.g. as in the trend retracement EA). That way we do not need to open half a dozen charts with EA each. The other idea I had with regard to MOMO is a limit on the wick size, steve has already done something simillar with his ASHFX BOT, I do not know if it is possible here or not. Till now I did not have cause to ask STEVE to spend anymore time on this. However, if the results go the way they have been for the last two and half days I am sure he will agree that more time is justified.

I think one chart (EA) looking at multi pairs would help if we can just show that these 2 bots are worth Steve's time to change them.
