The trick is not what indicator works with which pair, but to put as many indicators on your chart as possible.

Forget the price, that's just a distraction. A lot of people here just use the indicators and don't give a damn where the price is going. If they do well, they usually post the number of pips in the Cable thread or the Euro thread and they post this: .

Here's the sort of thing you need:

I love it - a classic post..

A practical suggestion? As a starting point try studying the various currencies without any indicators at all. You will learn a lot more that way.

Wouldn't it be better to identify what works with all rather than what works with just some? Whilst it is true that each currency pair is different and have their own idiosyncrasies, when you boil it down price action of any instrument is determined by buyers and sellers who are trading their opinions (except perhaps central bank intervention). If your indicator fails to capture or offer some insight into this behaviour on any instrument then it is more likely that whatever inefficiency that you think your indicator is enabling you to exploit only exists in the short term.

What indicator you use is less important that choosing an indicator that you like and then understanding its advantages and limitations.

But for what it is worth, I know that at Barclays Capital they use different indicators for analysing different currency pairs. For example: they use Ichimoku on the XXXJPY pairs, assumedly because they want to be looking at the same things other XXXJPY trades are looking at. Although it could just be that whoever is assigned to do the daily analysis on the JPY pairs likes Ichimoku.

I think it is not which indicator that work best with which currency. It is the integration of various indicators into your trading system that makes it work for the currency pair you are trading with.

When you trade a currency pair long enough, you will roughly have a feel of the movement and if you can integrate the help of some indicators, you will be able to trade profitably with that currency pair.

Risk management is very important for every trade because that the way we can minimize our risk. And to manage risk we need to be disciplined. But it is not easy to do this, because not every one is skilled with it.
