the one I have on Alpari US pairs only had 9 trades Wednesday and Thursday. 6 winners 3 losers, USDJPY took half profit the other half is +160pips as of midnight GMT Friday Morning. If you see schlossberg`s examples there are couple of trades of few hundred pips profit. Therefore if we even have a 30% success rate and 1 in 10 or more have profit of couple of hundred then it is very good. Early days but lets see how they do after 10 trading days to have a reliable indication.

The History Analysis shows 4 trades, 3 lost and only 1 win in the last 2 days, however this is a new demo platform due to the other account been blow out by a bot under test. So we'll have to see how this proceeds

astrall and sundog help me out on an observation here. I think that the second half exit rules are kicking in at the start of the trade. If this is true the second half exit is going to turn into a very short stop loss on a retracing pair. It needs to be shut off until the second half of the position kicks in and let the SL do its job.
The two trades I lost today I believe were stopped out by the second half exit, 10 pips below the 50sma.
Steve may be the only one that can answer this but if you watch your trades and it does it you'll see it right off.
When I traded this system manually it didn't have this exit but it didn't
have Boris' name on it either!

This position on the euro is running well but I cant see the trailing stop working, have I missed something in setting it up..

Also whats the diference between conserative and aggresive SL in terms of pips...?

I have edited the code to try to fix the non-trailing trailing stop. See if this fixes the problem.

The ts is a bit of a blunt instrument at the mo, simply trailing by 15(0) pips. Let's see how this goes for a while; I can make alterations next week if need be.

Steve, its bedtime for me, however just quickly on the 5 min momo. According to the BS rules (as I read them). Once the price closes above or below the 20 ema, we have to wait for the MACD to cross the zero line to support the trade.

Now in the written rules it says, make sure the MACD is either in the process of crossing... The example shows crossing from + to -, and vice versa.

The reason I bring this up is I just had it fire a trade off before the MACD just got near the zero line on its journey to the other side.

Actually looking back there does seem to a problem with the logic. The last couple of trades have done the same thing, Closed below the 20Ema, but not waited for the MACD to go Negative. The same for one buy.

I just checked the demo running this EA and you are quite right. I am not sure if it is checking the MACD TRUE or the regular MACD. Steve asked SWINGMAN for a MACD indicator which may solve the problem. Unfortunately I feel like an idiot since I have not got a clue when it comes to coding. I do not know if there is for dummies series on coding, I sometimes think wiley publish this series just for me (I have read daytrading, currency trading and technical analysis FOR DUMMIES). My 5mm is running on MACD True and doing fairly well. I'll keep an eye out for those false entries.

The robot makes a call to macd but calculates the 'true' reading as per SwingMan's instructions. This is the same as that used in MACD true, I understand.

You only need macd true on the chart in order to check that entries are being made correctly. If not, then the code needs looking at.

Thanks for the change to the script, the trailing stop is now working fine....

This EA appears to be going quite well.....Iam going to sit down over the weekend and take a look at the weeks wins and loss's ..

Just one thing I have the news function on false , because if I confirm the function when the EA is loaded on the chart it crashes my platform..
Tried it many times with the same result so I have it on false and it works ok......My broker is Alpari UK..

I dont know if this is something others have experinced or if I have forgot to change something..

This is my results for the week...

Euro 2 wins ....2 losses.
GU 4 wins ....1 loss
UJ 4 wins.....3 losses
GJ 4 wins...2 losses.

in dollar terms......total of $80.80 profit with a loss of $57.00

Two large losses by GJ and Uj...so maybe if I were to stay with the USD pairs and delete the JPY pairs profit may improve.....will try that next week..
I will also add Aud..

Now this was with out the trailing stop working so no doubt the results will be effected, as the euro had a large run with a profit of $24.51 in one trade, no doubt a trailing stop would have taken the trade out..

Hi Steve,
Today I ran into a problem with the bot that I've had twice before. Today it was a long trade EURCHF, perfect entry on the 2nd bar of Swingman's great colored macd true indi. Started up and then retraced on the 2nd candle back over the 50 sma and was stopped out long before the SL.
I think the 2nd half exit routine is engaged and is becoming a very short SL on a retracing pair.
If my logic is correct, and I sure hope you set me straight if it isn't (I'm sure you will) can that routine be held off until the 2nd half of the position is in place.

Hi

I have this running on a PC at work (simply running out of CPU power at home and VPS due to too many power consuming EA`s Running on demo) therefore I can not check this out before Monday. I have noticed other abnormalities when looked at it earlier on today. However, I had forgotten to put a sleep value so I had to redo the template and change the 17 pairs. As soon as I find out I will let you know.

P.S. I just saw your post 193, I think you are right, if this is a big problem to solve I think we should just stick with trailing / jump stop and see how it goes.

I looked at the code. In English, and using a buy trade as an example, what I meant to code was: if the Ask is < sma 50 - 10(0) and the trade is in profit, then close it, because there must have been a profitable move followed by a retrace.

What I actually coded was: if the Ask is < sma50 and the Ask is < sma 50 - 10(0), then close the trade. This is an obvious bit of mis-coding that led to the 2nd half exit routine is engaged and is becoming a very short SL on a retracing pair.

I have fixed this, and will put it up in time for market opening next week.

The robot might need a third part of the conditional i.e. close the trade if (buy again):

 

  1. it is in profit
  2. the Ask is < sma 50 - 10(0)
  3. the order lot size < Lot, indicating that half the trade has been closed

I am merely thinking aloud here; 3 clearly needs adding. Watch this space for the pre-market-opening updated version.

Thanks for the attention to detail. Frankly, I do not have time for it and rely on others to spot blunders like this one (or two). Cheers

Steve, and others disregard my post about the MACD not functioning correctly.
I had the wrong MACD on the chart. When I put the TRUE on the chart, it is evident that the Bot is functioning correctly.

Hehe. Given the frequency with which I drop robot-crippling clangers, it is heart-warming to see someone else being equally daft.
