This thread has attracted some seriously clever minds, Scoobs. Not all of them are coders (yes, I know they should be but they aren't, ok?) and it is to our advantage to allow them to play with settings as much as possible.

Well, it could be to mine, anyway, and that is what really counts for me.

Those who lack the ability to play with settings will do what they always do anyway - go with the defaults and hope someone else has done their thinking for them, so extra inputs hurt nobody.

Pat - Your efforts are appreciated. However, your calculations are incorrect. You have made a very common mistake when looking at historical values.

The good news is that you have the weekend to try to figure it out!

What he posted was a nice attempt at backtesting the fundamental "thinking" of many of your EAs. However, visually backtesting in Metatrader (as Pat's indicator attempts to allow) is not quite as easy most think. It is part of the reason why 1000s of systems look good when visually backtesting, but then underperform live.

I could tell him the answer. But, believe me when I say this, he will become a much stronger MT4 programmer by figuring it out for himself. When that happens, backtesting of indicators/systems will be much easier.

Please find attached new EA.

This is just taking the 20-200-RSI3 to a different level.

OB=85
OS=15

TP=40
SL=80

Default RSI=2 but this changes to 3 if the currency is in its active hours.

I have also incorporated the Trend function.

Also, because of the interelationship of currency pairs I only trade and look at HIGH impact news affecting any of the pairs listed below.

I don't know what is other people's experience of your original 20-200 SMA EA but I am getting some seriously good results on my live a/c. So far 2 small losses and 25 (approx) gains. Some I just closed manually as I thought that thegains may reduce in size.

BTW I have not tried your EMA EA yet as the SMA EA is doing a terrific job.

No it does not. Can be done however it will work real time only for obvious reasons. It could possibly mark the chart window with a "DO NOT TRADE TYPE 3 News" or something similar to that. Also if you are referring to adjusted values of rsi_p based on time as suggested earlier, its once again a programming issue. Will work on these two over the week end.

Vinesh, while Im getting a good win/loss ratio, im finding the losses overwhelming the wins. Are you doing anything in particular?

I havent tested 'The Holy Grail' thats your job.

Should work with 3,4 or 5 digit broker but not ECN.

I found out why the news filter sometimes fails. Its due to the number of people accessing the .XML file when FF becomes overloaded.

Usually its not a problem but it could be a disaster if you start opening trades during National Farm/Interest rate news releases and find yourself on the wrong side of the market.

The reason why we access it more than once is because items can get updated at the last minute.

You should also bear in mind that sometimes the news impact is wrong i.e. it says medium when in fact it is high or things are just missing. But that is down to FF news provider.

Or you could read page 1 properly and follow the link to the news indicator that I placed there for this very purpose. Not much point in there being a carefully maintained page 1 if people don't read it, is there?
