SwingMan, can you do me a huge favour, please? Can you do a version of MACD True with a zero line added? I would do it for myself, but indi coding leaves me baffled and confused.

Hi Steve

It seems this one has taken off quite nicely. Originally when I looked at it I thought 2SMA MACD would be more reliable due to higher TF and extra filter of 2 sma as opposed to one EMA. Anyhow we will see within the next couple of weeks which one of these EAs that you have kindly created for us has a more promising future.

Schlossberg states that when trading this system we have to be weary of ranges that are too tight or two wide. Now comes the question which shows I have not got a clue when it comes to programming. Is there anyway that this can be factored into the EA (i.e. for the EA to detect very tight or very wide range)?

One thing I have noticed with Schlossberg is that sometime he contradicts himself for instance when in an earlier post I mentioned ADX as a way of detecting trend strength, you quite rightly quoted the section in his technical analysis book he says that ADX is utterly useless. Scooby says ADX is just like tossing a coin! However, when I thought where I had come across ADX and this functionality it was in the High Probability book, page 41, last section of the 2SMA MACD chapter.

Nice, if slightly uncomfortable, piece of inconsistency spotting there.

I am a teacher, and so can easily prove how opposite positions of the same obvious 'truth' can hold with equal value. It all comes down to the individual in question, and to that person's skill set.

So it is that I can imagine that BS can sometimes find ADX useful, whilst generally finding it to be rubbish. As a piano teacher, I occasionally find myself 'teaching' pop music. Need I elaborate?

All ideas welcome here, so long as they do not include some magic custom indicator - these blasted things are the bane of my existence as they are usually impossible to extract useful information from.

Hi Steve,
I traded this system manually long ago. The entry point is key! I think you have all the indi's you need. Draw a 0 line and change your bar color to lime, so you can see it and set up your entry to the new MACD, everything else looks good. This is a good system!

In reply to everyones post's. I have it running on just 2 charts, EC, and GJ. I have the True MACD onboard and just running it default.

I am going to watch if for a the rest of this week and decide whether it needs tweaking or not.

It depends what you are using ADX for, if it is overall trend, then fine. However, if you are using it for entry, then it is way too slow.

Yes, all indicators lag but ADX lags like a donkey running in a 6 furlong horse sprint race.

Thanks for clearing that up. There was some misunderstanding here due to the fact that we tend to read Schlossberg`s work very carefully since we have not come across these systems before. Whereas a professional like you may only glance at it.

Schlossberg only mentioned ADX as an indicator to show the existence and the degree of the strength of the trend, not as an entry indicator.

If you want the degree of the trend then you would be better off using a slope indicator.

There is not any particular one. However, if it helps I have attached one here. Please ensure you have the MACD TRUE in your indicators folder (Steve for some reason this is not included in the indicators zip file). I am testing the 2SMA MACD EA since I found it to be quite good during manual trading, however, it is not looking too good in automated trading although it is earlyto tell. we should know in couple of weeks time.

In the meantime I managed to find another unused PC connected to our office network and I am running 17 pairs on demo using forex.com (MOMO EA). Lets keep our fingures cross.

As the momo appears to be running as intended, it has graduated to the zip in post 1. The other zips are updated with guide, template and indicator.

the one I have on Alpari US pairs only had 9 trades Wednesday and Thursday. 6 winners 3 losers, USDJPY took half profit the other half is +160pips as of midnight GMT Friday Morning. If you see schlossberg`s examples there are couple of trades of few hundred pips profit. Therefore if we even have a 30% success rate and 1 in 10 or more have profit of couple of hundred then it is very good. Early days but lets see how they do after 10 trading days to have a reliable indication.
