Hi Steve
My MACD Combo Bot is doing the same things that astral77's bot is and my 5MM bot has a bug in the MaxSpread. It reverts to 0 as soon as the software starts running and I believe it is shutting off trading. When you first boot the software it starts at 12 and it will trade but then drops off to 0.

The attached solves the problem of the Incredible Shrinking Spread. It was a failed attempt to defeat criminals occasionally changing the digits in their quotes. I shall return to this on another occasion.

astral and whip, download the MACD true indi from SwingMan; this represents the calculations that the two bots are using for MACD.

I have no idea whether SwingMan's assertion that his method of calculating the value of macd is better or not. It seems to me that if a method calls for a standard macd to show an appropriate number of histo's pointing in the right direction, then that is good enough, but SwingMan knows more about this stuff than I do. That is why I made the change.

If you find you prefer to go with the standard macd then sing out and I will revert - it will only take seconds.

When I read your post I nearly had a heart attack (good job my heart, blood pressure and Aspirin pills were nearby). How could I be guilty of such a deadly sin? An offence which would have consigned me to the dustbin of FF as far as Hopwood’s threads were concerned.

I quickly went to the post 108 all the time wondering how I could have missed it. Imagine the relief when I reread your post 108. You are a brilliant and well respected coder. However, your English comprehension although far, far superior to our German, is not quite 100%. I had read your post originally, however, as you can see below you say “big bug” and although you had attached True MACD indicator you had not specifically mentioned that TRUE MACD had to be substituted for MT4 MACD. I did confess to being an illiterate person when it comes to coding and programming and when I saw the post below it looked to me as technical chat between two programmers, well beyond my understanding.

Anyhow, my apologies to both of you (SWINGMAN AND STEVE) for wasting your time. Brain has switched off tonight and I will try the demos in earnest as of tomorrow.

I tested the SM/MACD EA and because I don't get any trades from January until today, I checked the code.

I think it gives a big bug, because you used for MACD crosses the MODE_MAIN value. I know that is a normal error on using the MACD, therefore have the first review.
You must only substract (MODE_MAIN - MODE_SIGNAL) and you get the right value for the EA.”

What you are saying is logical (I and guess this will be so). I have put True MACD on the charts and the trades are then justified, however, the positions still do not look right. Lets see how it plays out. Only time will tell.

Long time ago I stopped to apologize for my english. Most of the work is now doing from the Google Translator, because my kindergarten English is not enough to post.

Hello all. I have been following this thread and using all of the EAs. These are fantastic. Thank you all for your input. I had a variation on how to use bollinger bands and I was not sure where to post it. I have attached a chart to explain the idea. I am hoping we can turn this into an EA.

Hehe. No 1 would be extreme. No 2 would be unhelpful. We would all prefer no 3.

I am English and can assure you that astral was not being critical. He was trying to explain why he did not understand about macd true.

I vote number 3. I also confirm what Steve says. I was just trying to explain why I did not notice the True MACD issue and thought it was programmers talk / discussion. English is not my mother language either and after 33 years studying, working and living in England my English is still not what it should be.

I have always mentioned my pleasant surprise to find the FF community being frequented by a number of very knowledgeable individuals who are so generous and helpful. I consider you to be one of these individuals and it will be a big loss to me and everyone else in FF if stop or reduced your contributions. I think I speak for everyone in FF when I say we are most grateful for your help and kindness.

Are you checking the function of MACD. I presume you are using TRUE MACD. Also what pairs are you using?

Hi Sundog,
Mine is also running well and following Boris' rules. I added a 20EMA to the screen and that helps me! Last 4 trades were winners.

BS 5 min ....running on UJ and Euro......

Last 24 hours...closed trades ... UJ 2 trade's both winners and euro 3 trade's 2 winners and 1 loser..

Plus this one still live...
