Thanks for the reply. The MM in EA5323 is the same I think. But it trades everything under the sun except Gold and Silver.
Since you specialise in JPY crosses, it makes more sense to go by your opinion.
Now awaiting you latest model on Sunday.

Hi scoob, I've seen many times where you recommend against using more than one EA on an account. I'm assuming that you suggest this to avoid the EA's getting their signals "crossed" (I've seen this happen myself)

Does your recommendation also apply when the a second EA is on the same account , but running on a separate platform?

I ask this because I'm ready to go live with the Original bot and would like to run it on a live account that trades EJ in a different manner. Assuming that the platforms are set up correctly, (magic numbers, etc..) do you forsee a problem?

I did not change anything from the ea. I started the bot on Monday morning as is , left it on all the time till today when the last profit hit , I closed it . Regards

Different platforms should be ok.

If you run more than 1 MT4 EA on the same account then you can get problems with threads etc.

Also, getting 40 pips on the JPY pairs is easy whereas trying todo that consistently on say EURCHF etc is not so easy.

Plus you can use what the BOJ traders are doing on a daily basis to your advantage and in this game you need all the help you can get.

Thanks scoob. My main concern was that if the BOJ basket went to close at url and I had EJ trades open on the other platform...would it close those those also? Even if the other EJ trades had opened on a different plat and have their own magic numbers...? Better demo to be sure

Ehup guys. The end of another trading week, and a good one. Here is where I am, in order of current favourites:

 

  1. BOJ Original: continues to make profits. Proven robot that looks to have a long-term future.
  2. Scoob's robot: fantastic start and an example of masterly simplicity. I would put good money now on this robot having a long term future. Don't shout at me Scoobs; this is already on my tiny live eglobal cent criminal account. I can see what information this robot uses to take trading decisions; I have yet to see better. So far the trades are a few cents down, but going live coincided with a poor run on demo as well, so I will know more by this time next week.
  3. TCF: slow trader but generally safe. This needs a expiry time for the pending trades - not so simple as it sounds as there is no point in having trades 1 & 2 expire if 3 has filled. There is a need to kill pending trades when the conditions for trading have moved against them - something for me to look at next week. I hope to go live with this soon.
  4. Extremes: I am pleased with this. At one stage yesterday, the account was at +40% balance but the dd on 7 open trades gradually deepened. At its worst, it was about 50% - scary on a live account with a lot of cash in it. Today, the trades gradually closed, admittedly at a loss each time, but overall the account was left at +22%. I would be happy with this each week. Not yet ready to go live with this - I want to see if the account can survive days like yesterday and today more often, when the markets do not cooperate with the trading strategy.
  5. maxou: fantastic start also. Horribly difficult to understand and probably needs a maximum trades feature, or for me to cut down the trading pairs in the input. Can't argue with the first day of trading with the latest bot: modes 1 & 2; 59 trades in about 4 hours before I closed everything down before having to go out; 40 winners; just over $2,000 profit on a $50,000 demo account. Scary dd at times.
  6. OP robot: still hopeful. Good profits this week but a stuck basket and its hedge leave the account heavily into dd.

Cannot wait for next week.

This is for trading XXXJPY pairs only 24/5 with sound risk and MM controls.

You will need a minimum of 800 of base currency to trade 0.01 lots.

3, 4 or 5 digit broker but not ECN's.

TP is set @ 40 pips for a reason.

I have it running on an FXDD demo. Attached is my set file (in .txt format).

I have it running on 6 or 7 pair. 15 minute charts. I do have the 200SMA filter turned off. Hope this helps

taz, just checking. You realise that this is not a multi-pair trader, so you have to have it on every chart you wish to demo?

Trades using this robot are few and far between. I also have Use200Sma set to false, otherwise it never takes any trades. The combination of rsi and linear regression is enough to kill off most potential trades.

Try this next week and see what happens. I regard this robot as being one of the most promising, so it could be well worth sticking with. We shall see.

The extremes needs the JS + BE routine. Also bringing the indie code into it like in the original.

Your robot is super. Please also add the JS + BE (jumping stop and breakeven) routine to it in your weekend update so we leave open the possibilility of catching long moves if the opportunity presents itself. If not, still grateful for what you have given us for it is really good.
Also please see if the trade closure needs update for two digit jpy pairs especially. There were some comments in some posts back about it not not closing trades for some pairs for brokers with two digits on jpy pairs (FXPRO has different digits on jpy pairs as other posters have already commented). I found that to be the case on an FXPRO demo.
Lets defeat the subtle tactics that brokers use to ensure robots do not perform at best on their platform. FXPRO is a simple example but there are many others.

Indie code is already a part of the robot. Brining js and be routines into the robot is on my list of todo's if it survives a bit more time on demo. In the meantime, I am using mptm to manage BE.

Ouch. Don't try to turn Scoobs into a mechanic. His robot sends a clear tp and sl. He has no interest in adding code to complicate the trade closing decisions. His robot works perfectly as published. Do not risk alienating him by making unreasonable demands on his time. Do not confuse him with me. I have hours to spend coding endless subtleties into ever-increasingly-complicated robots; also, I have the interest to want to do so. Scoobs has none of either.

This is just info. I was just now looking at the 2 digit jpy pair trades to see why they are not getting closed. I have seen what the problem is. It's the way the bot calculates TP and SL for the 2 digit pairs. Eg 20 pip TP is placed on these pairs by the bot as 200 pips and 80 pip SL as 800 pip SL.
The TP and SL is placed correctly by the bot on the other (not 2 digit) pairs. I will just exclude these 2 digit jpy pairs for now.

Another possible work around for anyone with FXPRO (and any other 2 digit jpy broker) who still wants to trade these pairs at say 20 pip TP and 80 pip SL is use a second instance of the bot with a different magic number and ONLY the 2 digit JPY pairs selected. Then change the TP and SL to one digit less Eg 2 for 20 pips TP or say 8 for 80 pips SL. The robot will place the trade in this example as 20 pips and 80 pips respectively which is what you really intended. I will also try this out when the market reopens.

Thanks Sandy. I will take a look at your settings and compare to mine. I do notice a few big differences already, 1 being i have it on h1, and 2 the sma filter is on. I used the set file posted by getdown. But in looking at his myfx link, it looks like his hasn't taken a trade since the 9th either.

yeah i have it on 6 diff charts, using getdown's set files. are you running yours on m15 or h1, and how has it performed with whatever settings you are using this week?

I originally ran it on H1 and got no trades. Once I put it on M15 it became more active but it's still a slow trader. The trades it takes are very good though. I think the RSI and Linear Regression filters weed out a lot of bad trades.

I watched the Scooby Simple Method Entry EA today with SMA 200 code added in. It wouldn't have taken any trades at all. But I guess if the PA is on the right side of the 200 SMA you'd have even more secure trades so it's certainnly a judgement call.

congratulations to the great work and the very good thread.
I work with the bollocks and I'm very satisfied with the result.
Unfortunately, these reports here on ea no more.
Therefore, I sign with the small change I now use in the calculation of the size freemargin place since balance if you have other open positions, the size of the position better suited. I hope this helps a little suggestive account. my english is not very well and hope she understands me.
