Cut your losses short & let yor winners run. How hard is that? Harder than it sounds, actually, & I am still learning.

Yeah hats off to you Fool ..pleased you are on track now..being able to sit on your hands when in profit sounds easy but takes time to get "in the habit" of holding on...to me this has been my biggest bugbear ...all the best

How's the move to GU / EJ which ever you decided on going Fool ??


Reviewing the charts tonight, only EJ looks worth bothering with in this low volume 10:1 scared market, so focusing entirely on EJ from here, even Gold is vague.

I have been working into trading G/U but mostly watching it more now. Has been hard to miss making money last 2 days if you've been a dollar bull. I missed most of the run though - been out of town. Dayjob deadlines are starting to bear down. Sitting near breakeven on the spot account I am contemplating pulling the funds from it and putting them into a futures trading account. I don't know how the 10% margin rule will shake out - it might take a long time for the change to take place - or maybe go down in March as the CFTC plans -- but I have been wanting to go to futures anyway. Will be needing to concentrate on real work for a couple months. Hit breakeven last week - nine months of live trading & nothing to show. That has been a sobering thought. I definitely see the potential. But I believe you really need to trade full-time to fully succeed. And I can't make that commitment yet.

That's not bad advice. I zoom out all the time. If you mean "why not trade on daily charts?" I get that too but I am profitable the way I trade and I have not been able to be as profitable on longer tf.

The worst thing about scalping the way I do is that I need to be physically "there" for the trade and the best times to trade are times that I would rather be asleep.

Anyway, I'm still here. I don't mind making money this way. But I ain't countertrending anything now - tried a couple times already today & got picked off.

NFP may be pretty interesting. I will be trying to get up at 0darkthirty to watch the show.

It's very nice to know that you have created a system that scalping and get profit for 4% a day forever.

I'm very interested about your system.

Could you please give me the complete detail of your system?
As for your information, now i'm building an EA with my trading system...that i called 'Guerilla War System'.
You could find my thread in Forex Factory.
After reading your thread, i think that maybe i could gain some inspiration from your system...

Would you like to share your complete detail about your scalping system, Fool?

Fool, too busy to trade also currently, it sucks but hey.


And yes 9months and your at break even over all, in 9months time you could / should be up 200% if not 300% so keep the faith dude.

And ignore the just trade D1, yeah it sounds easy but no ones getting the kind of returns your getting very few are actually making anything from it at all.

Stick to the plan, keep repeating what your doing, trade when you can it's better than nothing and only money and you'll be a millionaire* by 2020 easy.

* not that a millionaire is worth much these days.

There is no system, he sees the market going up and sees buyers, he goes long get into profit starts to stall and exits and repeats!!

In addition to not being a system, he has not maintained an average of 4% gain a day. That's just the title of this thread. He had a pretty significant drawdown already, but has made his way back!

I'd say this is more of a journal. Definitely no system here, and definitely not one generating 4% daily. But sit back and enjoy reading.

If you disclude his failed investor trading which he got suckered into early on and cost him hugely, from that point he's likely up +150% or something similar, I think you'll find that's pretty near the 4%.

Hi juannie. Thanks for visiting my thread. As my friends have pointed out, I am pretty much a discretionary trader & so its not likely that you will find some systematic rules to plug into an EA.

That said, I have thought about how I might model the momentum trades that I mostly make & I think it will be possible, but difficult. And that will be a time consuming exercise. And I am short on time these days - but we'll see if I can pursue that someday....

I didn't mean to complain about breaking even - mostly I'm just pissed about the impending regs that will drive alot of us out of spot forex. Well, I have said I have wanted to switch to futures so here's my chance.

Anyway, what a week, huh? 400+ pip range on e/u, mostly south. If it would do that more often hey I'd be a trend trader. A short off the ADP news would have paid 300+ pips in a few days.

Its been a pretty fast descent since December. What a difference 8 weeks can make. Before: USD a broke-d^ck dog, only good for the carry trade, & euro the new reserve currency. And now, USD back in the safe-haven throne, with rumors of the dissolution of the EU (at worst) or at least, the euro dragged down with the recurrent bad news about EU member state debt crises, unemployment, etc. Boy, that was fast, huh? Maybe too fast?

Anyway, I will be watching for some good words about Portugal or Italy or Ireland or Greece or Spain or whoever. We're not exactly swimming in good news on this side of the pond either. Euro bulls are probably just out shopping for discount villas in the Greek Isles....

Yeah, 10:1 fear is already killing the market, the volumes and ranges are low and generally more unpredictable than normal, you might be okay gunning for 4 pip moves but gunning for 15+ is just useless.

Yeah what a week, none stop work barely had 30mins total to look at charts.



Have a good weekend dude and stick to scalping, the dream of trading H4 and making money while you sleep is just that a dream.

Thanks, D. - you do the same. If you want to see a pretty chart have a look at Gold for the week. $75 or 7.500 pips off of $1,125. Retrace play will be pretty tempting - already made up $20 of it at the end of NY today...

10:1 has nothing to do with how the markets are moving. That (if passed) will only impact the RETAIL trader which has no power to move the markets. Big money traders already trade with less than 10:1. This is just another excuse to not trade. The markets are moving very nicely.

Making money off of the H4 and higher is not a dream, in fact it is much easier than the 1 min or the 10sec charts. I strongly recommend it for people who are busy and cannot be in front of the computer for hours on end or for people who just want a life outside of Forex. How many trades have you made this year? Trading the daily I have made 26 trades on 16 pairs. I currently have 16 open trades (1 on each pair). 1 losing trade out of 26 trades, the rest either break even or better. It takes less than 15 minutes a day to trade the daily charts. Most people waste more time than that posting on FF.

You are a smart person Turv. You came up with a winning 1 min strategy when most will tell you that you cannot make money on the 1 min. I am certain you could develop a winning strategy for the daily. The only thing holding you back from doing that is an unfounded bias against the daily candles. A candle is a candle, it really doesn't matter what time frame it is on. It's how you react to that candle that is important.

BTW, that "choppy" EJ that you are complaining about, since January 12th it has been worth about 1,100 pips on a single trade and still going.

Not saying that to brag, but to hopefully get you and others to look at many different ways of making money with Forex. Don't get so locked into one method that you snub all the others. Why not have a method that you can use when you are very busy with other things and still have your 1 min system for when you have time to be in front of the computer?
