With Renko time is already out of the equation, so if you apply a moving average (or other standard time-based indicator) to a Renko chart you already have an indy that 'counts the number of bars instead of the number of days' as you say. With standard charts bars = time; with Renko, bars = price, so you're already there.

what i mean is this:

using any indicator like for instance say macd. uses periods in the form of days, where renko has no time frames at all.

so an indicator that uses the number of bars might be better suited for these types of charts.

I am looking for a good non-repainting Trend indicator to filter bad trades on my renko chart, but so far, I have not found any good one. I tried to use HMA color nrp but it too repaints the previous bar that is closed. I do not mind the indicator repainting the current bar, but once bar has closed, it should not repaint it.
Try smHull Mavg(13,1.5,3,0)+ Ichimohu Kinko Hyo(2,5,8)with the first three colors to none, and Up Kumo and Down Kumo blue.
But in my oppinion the best(for me)is chaos oscillator.Keeps you on trend even during retracements.

There's nothing about the Hull Moving Average (HMA) that should cause it to repaint bars that have already closed. If your version of the HMA is repainting then it's not programmed correctly. Here's a HMA that doesn't repaint, along with an oscillator version that may be useful as well.

Hi fellow traders,
If you are using xB's method, could you advice me on the 2 possible entries on EJ marked with the red lines? The entry conditions look the same but the 1st one was stopped out immediately (SL above the channel) while the 2nd entry proved to be a good one. Appreciate your comments if I read the entries right or missed out on something...Thank you

smHull Mavg(8, 1.5, 3,0) looked too good to be true as it showed perfect trend reversal signals right when Renko reversal bars happen. However, that is because it repaints all its fake reversal signals. In live trading, I found that it goes back and repaints the closed Renko bar if reversal does not pan out on subsequent Renko bar. I am finding same issues with HMA nrp color.

You might want try adding MoM 4 to one of your indi's windows, may help warn you of those last minute trend changes.

The default one (not custom look under regular indicators)I think is as good as any, if your using Mt4 you should already have it.
It also gives you a lot more options on how to apply it. I sometimes set it to open to make it a little more leading, but up to you, however it may get you in trouble sometimes if you use it as a main signal, maybe more like a primer than a trigger, so as usual always test anything new that your trying on forward test demo for a good while until you have plenty of confidence in it.
Here it is just in case you still can't find it, you should also be able to find a couple of others MoM indis in the NITRO Scalping for serious traders, thread.

I'm playing with the NonLagMa v7.1 on the renko charts and it seems to be better than the Hulls and xPma...

Anyone else tried it?

It repaints the closed bar if subsequent bars go reverse.

Try it with renko size of 5 pips on GBP/JPY with settings for NonLagMA:-

Its the PctFilter - (2.0)...thats the 4th setting, .....that makes it really interesting as it really filters out the noise, on something like renko which already filters out noise...

Just take trades in the same direction as NonLagMa...

...you can see it keeps in the direction of the trend and takes out some whipsaws.......but settings still need to be played around with for diff renko pip sizes and pairs.

I am using RenkoLiveChart3.2 ea version on my ODL GLD m1 chart. I got a offline m2 chart as below at Feb. 5 during NFP

Is it something wrong with my chart or not? supposed there should be no such a long wrick.

I want to make sure my renko chart is correctly generated before live trading. Any help is much appreciated. It would be great to get tradestaion chart to compare

It looks ok too me........you can turn of wicks in the RenkoLiveChart3.2 EA inputs if you want to.
