Hi Asher , first of all thank u for ur time and effort spending on ichimoku alert . It might be a stupid question , but is it possible to have those alerts send as an SMS directly to a mobile phone ?

Sofar I know, we can get sms from email. Technically I don't know ...

In a flat market Ichimoku can provide you with a way NOT to enter a trade. You only have to look at the Chikou. It must have broken the following lines to be in contention for a breakout(not a full blown breakout yet), the Tenkan, Kinjun and the priceline. If one of them is in the way of the chikou it is better to stay out of the trade. After the chikou cleared all three one can start to look for opportunities to explore further like position of the cloud crossover, flat kumo, thickness of kumo, breakouts from the S/R lines of the Chikou etc.
Also look at the direction of the Tenkan and Kinjun lines at the time - different direction than the intended direction of trade. They can also keep you from trading at that moment when the chikou crossed all three lines and everything else looks set for a breakout.
I think the main problem we all face is that we do not want to enter a trade and moments later we are in the red. We all want to enter a trade and be in the positive from the very beginning

So yes Ichimoku can provide you with information regarding a flat trade situation.

To be honest with you, this is my ultimate goal actually, getting alerts as SMS. Email is good but Email is a Pull Service, not a Push service unless you set it up on your Blackberry through Exchange Server (the way we do in our office).

All the links you guys have shared (I believe) are paid services, although I havent tried it as yet but I believe Twitter can be used to Send and Recieve SMS Alerts for Free ...

I know thats a problem. One thing you may try is to use PUSH EMAIL service on iPhone which means iPhone will check for new emails after a certain interval such as 5 mins or so.

However, this also means your iPhone will connect to 3G internet connection every 5 mins and you'll be charged for internet use (depending on your mobile plan).

Not a good idea I know nothing can beat SMS ...

I have had a live account with axis for around 6months and only really signed up with them so I would have access to mt4 and the fake bonus offer their rep offererd which was made out to be real cash, in that time within the first 2 weeks thay changed from fixed spreads to variable and the GBP USD for example would have spreads up to 15pips outside of news.
The other thing was just about everytime I clicked a market order it would take up to 10 secs for the order to be accepted and i would almost always get slipped.
Market Markers will move the price 20 or 30 pips either side of the real market to clean you out, ( funny that just stopped out by 1 pip then the trade goes as expected).
FACT. I have been trading for around 8 years (stop counting now) and in that time I run platforms side by side and watch these sought of false market moves take place by having several live accounts running at the same time.
Conclusion, MM make money by trading against you.
ECN broker make money from small commisions per trade and dont trade against you.
Commmisions are tax deductable and smaller then what they were in the past and the real bank spreads more then make up for that.

Example over the years the MM use to offer 7 to 9 pip fixed spread on gbp jpy.
ECN broker would rarely be above 3 to 5 and sometimes even but over that would be very rare.
Honestly, I;m just sharing a bit of my rollercoaster ride in trading over many years and I must say that I have never had a live account with IG markets so will not quote them on what they do.
I will say that about 5 or six years ago I was at a trading expo and had talks to IG markets about accounts and didnt open one with them so I would have had a reason for going with other brokers over them.

Harsh, Really do your homework with brokers and open same accounts to compare, demand micro accounts to try them out.( ring them up they only have to press a button) I have even seen cases where the history data changes after 1 week so backtesting is a waste of time.
MY view the only real way to test a method is to live trade it on a micro account and then if you are comfortable with it up your trade sizes to match 1 -2% risk or even 3% only if you are really good, anything over that and you will be on the slow road to finacial freedom.
I have even run demo accounts along side live accounts and they have been different, Axis has done that, can't be sued for telling the truth.

Sorry to go of topic here a bit but it is an important part of trading and the markets alone are hard enough to trade so you don't need your broker to beat you up as well.
Ask yourself this, would you rather trade the real bank prices made up of around 6 banks for what it really is dealing at, OR trade with someone that makes up the prices around the banks to suit themsevles to milk what they can from you.

Ramble, MM = you against the market and broker
ECN = You agaisnt the market, you make money they make money on commission so want you to survive.

Closing I don't want to make this subject a big debate but I do suggest do your homework on brokers.
I,m happy to provide some future screen shots in PM mode to show what I,m talking about.
I want to keep it at that level so this thread doesn,t get filled with info outside ichimoku.

I have an IG Markets spreadbetting account and can testify that their execution is really not ideal, if not poor. All limit orders are filled definitely with slippages of the spread and market orders take quite a while to execute. IG's spreads would vary too, under certain circumstances.

It gave me quite a shock at the beginning as I compared it to another broker I used before which executes all orders precisely at the level specified and always has fixed spreads, even at news time. The only advantage that IG has over the other broker is that it allows you open orders on both direction so it's possible to straddle.

Another question, when I attached Ichimoku_monitor indicator to charts, nothing showed up. It works on white background but I like using black background. Any suggestion would be really appreciated. Thanks!
