thnx will try yours, along with mine that I created with help of pen and pencil starting from 0, with the idea to trade on M15 charts using confirmation from M30,M60,M240, end exit by the M15 chart hmmm lets see what will happen.

Ya that should be our goal here ultimately, or even better on m5.

I tested my setup on h1 using h4 and d1 for confirmation and I found it negative in terms of profit. While it did filter out a lot of trades, it filtered out more good ones than bad ones. The one advantage might be being able to tighten up your SL by around 1 ATR.

My latest ideas have been messing with the trix settings. Higher settings for lower TF's and lower settings for higher TF's.

Also I'm fairly certain, and excuse me if this has been covered, but "EntryMinATR" seems to be bugged at least on backtesting. This setting alone would be one of the most powerful filters we could use *sigh.

Also wanted to add to that we don't have to necessarily have a setup that hits +20% per month. Ideally we want something consistent at around 3-5% a month that works on multiple pairs. My ideal setup would be using around 5-7 pairs each pulling in 3-5% month consistently. Add that to the auto lot size feature in the EA and we're pulling in a good chunk of change per month while risking less.

Thanks for your contribution. I have been trying out the THV EA on an MBTrading demo account, and it has been working. What broker did you have trouble with?

Good to hear especially since MB's MT4 has been funky in the past. It wasn't opening trades on ActivTrades "Direct interbank" nonesense marketing scheme/faux ECN whatever the hell that is. Now i switched it to their market maker type account and it works fine.

Hey we're up 1%+ so far today on the demo!

after creating separate test files for each pair ( i tested 3 of them) got some nice results over night which were wiped out by GBPJPY =)) gotta do some more tweaking i guess for that pair...

Does any one know if it is possible to get this EA to only use Divergence. Selling when divergence shows a lower top or buying on higher Divergence low seems to have a good success rate.

Is it normal that backesting is so slow than it takes the same times than in real time ... ?
How are do doing to optimize it at that speed ?

In the bottom left of the tester window there is a check box and slider for visual mode, slide the slider to the right or turn off visual.

Good to hear, keep us posted. GPBJPY is where all good eas go to die, i generally avoid it like the plague when testing...

Yes its possible, bad news is its not backtestable (if thats even a word)

I just took a "scalping" set to demo after backtesting really well on GBPUSD and EURCHF. It runs on m1 with custom trix settings, 17 and 35.

I think this is a good idea. The THV system was only "proven" for 1m and 5m, although other traders use it for higher time frames.

I also have issues backtesting the THV EA sometimes due to high RAM usage. Maybe reinstalling MT4 will fix some sort of memory leak.

And I agree that you mentioned EntryMinATR maybe being bugged for backtesting. Whenever I set the variable, I don't get trades.

I had this problem too, basically i got around it by periodically deleting the huge files MT4 creates after backtesting. They should be in tester/history and are called .fxt files. This frees up space for virtual memory.

hmmm there is a software testing tool that can do all testing of non standard input values (001,101 etc.) and the MT4 can do the rest tests with ranges of number, now after my setting failed miserably, I'm thingking about creating a script to test all possible values for input. So i'm wondering now how reliable backtests are ...

So far the 4h set file on EURUSD gives me good results, it looks to work better on larger TF.

Ya its weird my backtests showed amazing results too, not so much on the forward tests so far....
