I want to take shorts on rallys now. I believe the next stab at the 1.1640 level will break. I want that ride.

i longed at 1713, was tempted to exit the trade at 1734 also ,but i decided to move my stop up to 1718

It’s been a tough day. My stop was actually set higher at 1.1840.
I was stopped out for – 80ps. I then re-shorted failure of 1.1860 with 2
lots at 1.1840 and closed it @ 1.1800. Broke even for a day. I didn’t
expect Euro to pass 1.18 in just few hours after a free fall to 1.17.

Lesson learnt.

P.S. I’m also short NZD/US and intend to hold it for a few days.

What do you guys think of setting up yahoo or msn messenger and exchange
ideas or trades as we place them live? We could help each other, learn and
progress at the same time. Many times during the day or night I see an
opportunity and it would be nice to have someone else’s opinion.
Please let me know.

Great job recovering losses. Carefull though I lost my ass like that my first month trading. Because the price decided to trend. My stradigy for what you did is try it twice. Don't go for 3 if you ever come across that situation. Wait for the next day after prices settle into a consilidation. Then start fresh.
But that one was right on. Until the price breaks the 1.1950/1.1640 range it is best to assume those points will hold. In the past month 1.1700 and 1.1800 have been support/resistance as well.
Right now my s/l is 1.1860 but a break above 1.1830 I may consider pulling it and wait for a retest. If the price goes below 1.1790 that will be confirmation of the down move I am looking for.

As for instant messenger mabe in the future, after the hollidays.

I have to confess, I wanted to recoup losses badly. Thinking that after
shooting 150pips it has to be at least some kind of pullback. I agree it’s
risky and I’ve been burned doing that before. I will be watching 1.1860/70
very closely tomorrow; if it doesn’t break I will go short as close as
possible to that price with a sl just above it.
I will also try shorting cable around 1.7575 (61fibo of 1.7900 - 1.7050) on a failure.

I am at 3 losses and down more than 80 pips. The 7/10 on 1 hr chart is about to cross up. I see a chance of a retest and possibly a break on the topside. I am gonna side line it untill the market tells me what its doing.

Hi Mark
I have following this tread because i think Dave is one of the best in analysis and very clear, he is in this just 6 months, unbelievable, i have learned a lot from him, some times i do trades in pounds , yen, loonie and swissie, i try to be disciplined during the trade, but of course i would like to have other opinion and better to see an opportunity , thanks for your offer I accept it, mail me private.

Glad I pulled that trade. The price didn't do much and the close today on my charts is 1.1812, same as my exit. I wouldn't have wanted it to ride through the weekend.

I have been told Dec. is not a good month to trade in. I am beliving it.
Next week I will consintrate on smaller more short term trades with targets of +20-40 instead of 50-150.
There is rumor there will be a massive sell off befor Dec. 15. Thats through fxcm so I dunno how to take that information. I would like to go short on any rally near 1.1900 and see if I can be in if/when the sell off happens. Near 1.1900 I can set a stop closer and not get ripped if the price does the opposite. A break above 1.1900 should trigger a big bull signal since 1.1900 has capped the top side for the last month or more.

I can only agree. Reading Dave’s journal helped me become more disciplined
trader and that paid off with a gain for a week +99 p. When I take a
position, I then jump to this thread to see if you guys are with me or
against me J. Most of my entries in the last 6 weeks resulted in runs
80-100pips in Eur/usd, 100-150pips in GBP/USD, however I tend to pull
them when 25-30pips in profit. Like today, I made 29pips with 5 trades (1,
3, 10, 8 7). I hope to get this under control in the coming weeks.
