c speed,i think the martingale in your tester is not right.

in you tester, martingale is:

Standard Lot size = 1

1st loss, Lot size = 2

2nd loss, Lot size = 4

3nd loss, Lot size = 1

4nd loss, lot size =1

5nd loss,lot size =1

.

.lot size is always 1 after 3nd loss.

.

but martingale in alternative method ,also in 50pip oringal and evolution method is:

Standard Lot size = 1

1st loss, Lot size = 2

2nd loss, Lot size = 4

3nd loss, Lot size = 1

4nd loss, lot size =2

5nd loss,lot size =4

.

.

following loss lot alway repeat 1,2,4

right???

sorry for my english, but i think i made it clear

Dislikedi see the beginning of this yr. which is on january. the lots does not double aft a loss. mayb u can look into that?

means

1lot loss

2 lot loss

4 lot loss

1 lot loss

2 lot win

but the testing write 1 lot win only.Ignored

In the Orders row:

Red = Lose

Green = Win

+ - - + - - -

Orders:

+ - + - + + -

Lots:

1 1 2 4 1 2 1

1: 1 Lot = Win, stay at 1 lot

2: 1 Lot = Win, stay at 1 lot

3: 1 Lot = Lose, double to 2 lots

4: 2 Lots = Lose, double to 4 lots

5: 4 Lots = Lose, Reset back to 1 lot (max is 3 consecutive losses)

6: 1 Lot = Lose, double to 2 lots

7: 2 Lots = Win, Reset to 1 lot

Makes sense?

Hi Traders,

have been following the thread and found some interesting ideas. So I'd like to contibute some of mine.

First of all: the "march" through the charts could use some improvement. The change between up-trend (+) and down-trend (-) seems random to me, without any logic. Apparently it works fine, but maybe it would work better if the market would tell in which direction to trade.

My suggestion is to look at the last 3 signs and decide to trade in the direction of their majority.

Example:

Market

+/-/+ Majority (2 out of 3) is + ---> next trade + (up)

-/+/- Majority is - ---> next trade - (down)

-/-/+ Majority is - ---> next trade -

You get the picture.

You can stretch that to all prime numbers, but I wouldn't go further than 5 or 7 direction symbols (= + or -) at maximum. The longer the look back period, the longer this "march" will need to change the direction of your trades.

Play with it a little.

Next idea is inspired by "Colombino" in Post #99 (**http://tinyurl.com/y8ndleq), **especially the link to this one:

http://www.win-maxx.com/basics/basics_dalem_str.html

Play with it, you'll see how smooth this progression grows. You also can play with it:

You don't need to use 5 consecutive losses to go to the next higher layer. I'm testing with 3 right now, and it looks promising.

This progression also allows to experiment with the layers. Why not using 5 losses in a row in the first layer, but only 4 in the next, and 3 in the following? Three is minimum, in my opinion. Or vice versa: 3 in the first, 4 in the second and max. 5 in the following...

And last (for today):

If you consider to try progressions, don't only look at your lot-size ! You also can increase your bets by the percentage you want to risk per trade.

Simple martingale example:

1 - 2 - 4 - 8

If you interpret those numers as lot size, then most of you will back off. Understandably.

By looking at those numbers as UNITS you'll get another picture. If ONE unit is only 0.25 % of your account, then this sequence will read:

0.25 - 0.5 - 1 - 2 in %

As you can see this in not as frightening as before.

However, there is one more thing I have to say:

Merry X-mas and a relaxed New Year to all traders and the Forex Factory team.

Thanks for all the fish !
