What happened during the last global meltdown, many companies were wiped out, many lost jobs, many lost their careers etc....the so called safe haven is not existence anymore....
so why not consider trading full time.......and be free for life
I can agree with that. When I was offered a big redundancy payout offer I grabbed it like a vise. I am learning to trade but I am getting better at it every day.

I have decided to finish my professional exams, start an internal auditing career and trade on daily/weekly charts. Less trading is better.

Same as I do. I still have a career in private equity investment while trading on part-time basis (daily/weekly charts).

Maybe after a few years down the road, I will use my network in investment scene to set up my own forex funds.

If some career is more satisfying than trading is a purely personal question. For me, the answer is a most resounding "no".

I know of no other opportunity that can bring more personal and financial rewards. I know of no other business where one can make ten million with the same effort it takes to make one thousand.

The landscape is littered with fallen amateurs, wannabes, excitement-seekers, quitters, and those either unwilling or unable to put in the time, effort and sacrifice to understand price and to understand themselves. And that's just as well.

Here's the question you need to ask yourself. If you didn't need the money and your job or business didn't pay anything, would you still do it? If not, then you're not in the right spot for your own life.

For me, I'd trade if I had to pay to trade and can't imagine doing anything else with my life whatsoever. If you're looking for the social aspect that you get with a "normal" job, why not take on a few people to teach or just find other traders. I find traders to be among the most interesting people I know.

I've worked for various companies with large trading firms (equities, commodities, and FX). In an institutional environment like that - large trading floor - there certainly are circles and human interactions. They tend to be a little more intense than your typical office relationships though, but it's a far cry from being holed up in a room with a computer.

If you like trading but feel the human element is lacking you may want to look at these institutional environments. The FX desk at one of the places I worked housed 15 traders, the meat traders were within shouting distance to the left and the energy traders to the right. I've never been in an office with such diversity in personalities as this one.

Youth is a good thing to have . Do what you want and don't regret it in the future. Find out what you want out of your life and stick to it.

For me it is the money. Anything that makes me heaps of money and gives me lots of time to spend that money is something I want to do. Forex is one of the answers.

I disagree that you have to hole yourself in a room for 10 hours to be trading succesfully. I look at the charts once a day during ny close and thats all.

Great. If you are making money on a daily TF, nothing like it. I salute you.

Wish i could also start making money on a daily TF and work on a regular full time job.

For last 3 months, i have not studied seriously and playing with forex markets. I have tried few trading set ups and nothing has worked.

I have not earned anything yet. My family is totally against forex trading and they are encouraging me to finish my exams fast and start a career.

Career is a struggle initially. Working for 10-12 hours a day in an office politics enviorment but its fun as mind is busy all the times. I believe- empty mind is a devil house.

I am cut from both sides: I am spending time in forex markets but not earning anything and at the same time, i am delaying my exams in a hope that i can make money/living out of forex trading.

I know it is possible to make money from trading. I have myself earned profits before giving them away to the market. But at the moment, i am not doing well in trading.

Tough Life. From a first glance, forex trading looks so easy. With $ 10 a pip (standard lot), make 20 pips every day and $ 200 a day- good for living.

But making even one pip out of this 'inherently unstructured markets' is a tough and stressful game.

The global GDP at the start of year 2000 was $ 32 trillion approx.

The global GDP at the end of year 2009 is around $ 60 trillion approx.

From year 2000-2010, the world added $ 28 trillion goods and services.

Someone who entered the workforce at the start of year 2000 should have progressed in career in last 10 years because GDP growth creates new jobs in services, manufacturing and agriculture.

This is the beauty of service career- Expected certain salary.

I am thinking to enter workforce in the year 2010 and rise to leadership position by 2020 in my choosen field of internal auditing.

As world GDP grows from 2010-2020, new jobs will be created enabling me to move higher from executive to manager to director position.

Forex trading is a great investment, better then fixed deposit returns on bank. So i am researching more about daily/weekly pivot strategy to enable me to invest in forex markets.
