Maybee this can be a long time winner. Maybee Steve or another good coder can add the third timeframe so we can test it.

For retail traders the only thing that can cause this to fail is CB interventions.

These don't happen that often but when they do it can be heart breaking.

A trading floor will normally know 10 to 30 minutes before and can therefore take appropriate action(s). Retail traders will know around 1 to 5 minutes (depending on their broker) before leaving them virtually no time to make a decision on how to play the markets out.

My advice would be to just take the loss and live to fight another trade.

Your gains will still out weigh your loses.

PS. On MT4 live accounts there is a news tab which tells you about announcements etc. But this wont help if your EA is trading while you are asleep!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Since 2 days ago Dollar Index is rising, this make our SELL xxxJPY suffer big DD.

Question :

=== Should we add additional $ Index filter to our BOJ strategy ? I believe BOJ will not spend money for Intervention during strong $ index period.

This is actually a good point. If we were just trading USDJPY then I would agree with your observations.

However, we could add like filters for EUR, GBP, AUD indexes etc but the idea is that we are trading a group of currencies together so that the + and - should equalise themselves to a sufficient enough degree that we can still show an overall profit. Remember that we are trading them when their combined RSI is > 80 or < 20.

You right, Scooby,

- I'm disabled the allowingHedge=false, since the basic Logic of BOJ EA is BOJ Daily range bounce to help Japan Exporter & Importer to get the most good price for their spot/future Yen or Other currency for Import/Export Payment only, BOJ will not make any Intervention if the $ Index stay within Japanese Importer/Exporter range.
e.g. Toyota-export etc at USD/JPY @85.00, Japan Oil import may be at USD/JPY @100.00

Scoob, was this done with the 24 HR ea or are those manual (immediate buy baskets)?

I stated previously that November, December and January are the hardest months to trade forex.

Hedging worked well yesterday. The Original took a wave 2 sell that went a long way into dd, so all five hedge trades kicked in. The hedges had the effect both of keeping the dd in check and helping the margin requirement to stay within a comfort zone.

Twice, I turned hedging off and closed the hedge trades because I felt the market was at the crest of its wave. I was wrong both times, so I turned hedging back on when the market did not drop. Overnight here in the UK, the entire basket closed out at breakeven, so I did ok out of the whole episode.

I think an extra refinement will be to add hedge trades every 15 minutes only if the dd has deepened. I shall think about how to implement this.

I don't have the same results.
- Original was in large DD and opened many hedges, but suddently yesterday at 17:00 gmt it closed all the trades (trades = hedges) with a big loss
- OPPOSITE version give mixed results, equity is almost flat.
- ShagEmAll is a looser until now (-7%)
- KG original V3 is a looser (-10 % on 1 month)
- KG range V3 is a winner (+10 % on 1 month)
- Ash on 36 pairs have made +25% closed trades ,still floating -14% (opened trades)

The problem is I run scoob original, scoob 24h, scoob opposite and ShagEmAll in the same demo account so the loosing calculation for open hedges is perhaps skewed (I will watched the code).

I have explained several times if/when the EA will be made available for public use.

If it makes it through too the end of January 2010 with no significant hick-ups then it will be put on here for free. People here know I don't need to make money by selling EA's etc.

I am also looking at several security wrappers to prevent it being decompiled (in any usable format), changed and/or sold.

The only user input parameter will be Friday.Hour.Close
