I also had one trade in each of these pairs - GBPJPY loss; EURJPY win, CADJPY win & USDJPY win - latest version 1.4. Please note that I added CADJPY & USDJPY. Broker is MIG

Thanks for all that posted that they had trades using Alpari UK. I am now wondering why I did not get any trades since I am also using Alpari UK. Yes, the smiley face is on and I have trading more than proper turned on?

How about Allow DLL imports. I keep forgetting to re-tick that when applying the next version.

The == OP_SELL is the same as != OP_BUY as I put in the code.

Yes, I am basically saying if the Bid price turns against you across the 200SMA +/- 200 then close the trades and take the loss. Otherwise you are basically hoping that the trades will swing back in your favour, which sometimes they will and sometimes they wont.

On which pair would you apply this "crossing 200 MA" strategy for SL ? I mean there is more than one in the basket, right?

OK ,sorry I didn't saw the "!"
So, it was a question I asked few days ago, is where a way in hedging to avoid to take a loss (your formula before is almost like a moving SL) to avoid trigger SL. Basically we should close the hedge when the loss come back under the value that triggered the hedge. But at this point it's another bet that this trend will continue in our favor for the original trades. So I never found a smart use of hedging. May be there is secret sofisticated methods ??

Sometimes you just have to take a loss.

I have said it many times, when you enter a trade (basket) how do you know (as a retail trader) that central banks (BOJ) or trading floors are not going to consolidate/liquidate their outstanding positions etc.

Hedging is used to reduce the loss but it rarely enables you to end up with a profit or your desired TP.

Original V1.5 is available in post 1. I have made a few alterations to try to overcome the OrderSend problems that beset people earlier; not sure these will cure the problems but I can but try.

As to hedging, the current routine is a nonsense that helps nobody. When I have the time, inclination and energy I shall rewrite it to take out a decent hedge percentage at an intelligent amount of dd - 50% at 10% looks best from where I am sitting. I have been coding hedge functions since I first bumped into forex and this seems the most useful way of doing things.

In the mt4 options on top if you got to tools options expert advisors and check the following you will never have to worry about missing one of the parameters. Jusr check Enable expert advisors. Check allow life trading. Check Allow DLL imports. Not sure if this last one is needed, but I have it checked also Allow external experts imports.

Still no trades as of this posting. Also, I just got an email from IBFX saying they won #1 best broker three years in a row? If I read one of the posts by scooby, he mentions that hedging is not really helping. I don't want to misquote him on this. But if this is true, and you should just take the loss, perhaps it is safe to go to IBFX for a demo?

No guarantee they won't invade again, but I will eventually code instructions to the robot to quit trying after x attempts to send a trade have failed.

Now i have probably some dumb questions, I hope somebody can clarify this for me. I don't understand the logic of the following rule from posting #1 of this thread:

"One thing people should realise with the XXXJPY pairs...

One well known trading method with JPY currencies is that the BOJ intervene on a daily basis with them. So, if they are oversold prior to Tokyo open, then SELL them all. Likewise if they are overbought prior to Tokyo close, then BUY them all."

I have two questions:

1. isn't this a bit asymmetric? what if they are overbought prior to Tokyo open or oversold prior to Tokyo close? Why does the BOJ intervene in one direction only during Tokyo sesson and in the other direction only after Tokyo close?

2. How does the intervention work, how can this be an intervention at all? If Yen has strengthened much (x/JPY oversold) why do they intervene in a way that it would strengthen even more (sell when oversold)?

These are the two questions that i really dont understand, no matter how hard i try thinking about them.

The indicator is backwards...so yes you are right. When indie says oversold----sell them, and when it shows overbought, buy. I just thought I would let you know before you literally get your ass chewed out by Steve and Scooby...cheers and good luck

to clarify, it isn't that the indicator is backward, just that the trade is counter-intuitive


See when the yen is oversold, we obviously want to buy it, and that's what we do. But all yen pairs come in the form of xxxJPY, which means to buy yen, we have to sell xxxJPY.

we're buying yen by shorting a JPY pair, and shorting yen when buying a JPY pair. That's why we buy the pair when yen is overbought and short the pair when it's oversold.
