I had a buy basket as well on FXDD, hedged with 3 positions now.
Shouldn't there be entry conditions for the "normal" EA as well?
Buy only if overbought? It didn't even got close to any overbought situation since some hours ago...
Maybe I missed something somewhere on the way...

Well... whatever...

I updated the dashboard with the following changes:

-removed the candle time as it is eating resources like crazy
-added visual alert if a buy/sell opportunity arises
-added the corresponding arrows on the chart... gives a kind of backtesting capacity

I tend to agree but only if you can use one of their Proprietary Platforms (Autobahn ?)

Their low-end retail stuff is just a white label for FXCM as far as I know

Only advantage there - is that your funds are on deposit with DB not FXCM

Certainly much safer for client funds

Do you like Currenex ?

What platform do you use ?

Also regarding this recent Japan holiday - is that a 1 or 2 day show

No sign of the BOJ on this last basket

More pips next session - for sure

They will help you adapt your MT4 strategy into their proprietary one via API.

They are not just a label for FXCM, Deutsche bank is one of the large money center banks in the same group as Bank of Japan etc. Yes it is their retail side but the prices, volumes, support/resistence/orders will be as close to a real trading floor as you will get.

Obviously the max leverage allowed is 1:100.

The Japan holiday (in trading terms) was from 11.00pm GMT 22/11/09 to 11.00pm GMT 23/11/09.

MARKET STRUCTURE

Although in the past few years the popularity of FX has exploded among retail traders, the market is quite different from all other financial markets and still retains many of its old-boy network ways (see Figure 1.2).

The FX market trades 24 hours a day, 5 days per week, from about 5 P.M. eastern standard time on Sunday to 5 P.M. EST Friday afternoon. Trading kicks off in the sleepy capital of Wellington, New Zealand, moves over to Melbourne, Australia, and finally starts in earnest in Tokyo, Japan, which accounts for 15 percent of daily volume. At about 1 A.M. EST dealers arrive at their gunmetal desks in tall glass towers of Frankfurt, Germany, followed one hour later by colleagues in London, England, which, with more than 200 major dealing houses and fully 35 percent of average daily volume, represents the heart of the FX market. Finally, at 7 A.M. EST, bank dealers and hotshot hedge fund traders arrive at their desks on Wall Street and in Greenwich, Connecticut, and begin to deal from their sleek multiple-panel-monitor computers, generating 25 percent of the day's volume.

At the core of the market are the primary dealers, including large money center banks such as Citibank and BankAmerica and global trading powerhouses like Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley. Slightly on the outside are the Fortune Global 2000 corporations-all the usual multinational names from Alcoa and Avantis to Wal-Mart and Unilever. Right behind them are the self-proclaimed masters of the universe-the huge, multibillion-dollar hedge funds (many of which are located in the down-towns of Stamford and Greenwich, Connecticut), which place massive leveraged bets on behalf of the world's most well-heeled investors while charging 2 percent of gross and 20 percent of profit for the privilege.

The market basically works like this: The big money center banks like Citibank, Bank of Tokyo, and Deutsche Bank, along with trading houses like Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, and UBS, act as primary market makers supplying liquidity to the market. They are linked to each other and to the outside world through banks of phones and Reuters and EBS terminals. Although in the past most dealing was conducted by phone, now many billion-dollar trades are settled through screen-based trading with a click of a mouse.

The multinational corporations are the primary hedgers in the market looking to offset their business risk-everything from import and export costs to such mundane matters as weekly payroll management. The hedge funds are the large speculators looking to profit from changes in major economic and political trends. Last but certainly not least are the world's central banks, which participate in the market for a variety of reasons. Some central banks come into the market just to balance their books and adjust their foreign reserves. Others, like the People's Bank of China, will sometimes day trade billions of dollars at a clip if they think they have an edge, and will often pocket millions of dollars in profit for their reserve vaults. Yet other central banks will come into the market to try to manipulate or defend their country's currency to protect their trade advantage. How committed are they to this task? In 2003 the Bank of Japan spent more than $300 billion in a matter of a few months to make sure that the Japanese yen remained cheap relative to the dollar so that the country's vital export sector could remain competitive on the global stage. In FX, the game is definitely played for keeps.

Demo reg EA Ver 3 with default settings. Same result...AudJpy was hedged but basket hit SL. So far, since Nov 19 on Fxpro, EA has taken 4 trades, 3 losses 1 win. Started with $3,000, a/c bal now at $2,175.97, for a loss of ~ $825.00. It's not looking good, one loss wipes out about 10 wins.

Well... it's the second time in 1 week I'm asking the same question and none of you geniuses is willing to answer... so here I go again:

Post#1 Statement:
One well known trading method with JPY currencies is that the BOJ intervene on a daily basis with them. So, if they are oversold prior to Tokyo open, then SELL them all. Likewise if they are overbought prior to Tokyo close, then BUY them all."

So... why is the EA buying a basket before Tokyo close if the pairs are not overbought?
Steve... maybe a thing to look into, right?

I have a blank panel where the trade direction was on the previous version. Is this an error or should that panel be deleted?

Don't know, Uli; I am never around for this to watch it happen.

One possibility is the new candle thingy wasn't working properly. I just looked at the code and that break command that I thought I had removed was still there. It is definitely gone now.

About those symbol errors posted by macman and others. Again, not sure what is causing these but I suppose it is possible for the symbol that gets passed to the OrderSend command to be a blank. I have added a line of code to deal with this, so let's see if it is a cure.

I have added a new input to the hedging - MaxHedgeTradesAllowed with a default of 2. This way, people can play with the number of hedges they want sending. This applies to both robots.

Updated versions in post 1. I have added links to the posts containing Dxtrade's dashboard and smjones's JPY Candle indi. Also added a link to a site that shows JPY public hols. Anyone know a better one, sing out.

I am going to add some more code to the 24H bot, to add to the trend spotting. To take the example of a buy basket:

 

  1. GJ Bid > 15M 200 SMA + 0.2
  2. 15M 200 SMA > 60M 200 SMA

Neither... it will show the buy or sell if the conditions are met... and I leave it there for maybe other infos later you never know...

My last post was just because nobody seemed to be worried that the basic rule of the "normal" bot didn't work anymore. That was my only concern...

Many thanks for sharing some of your wisdom with us. We are all trying to find a decent broker rather than the "Criminals" that operate in this industry. Deutsche bank have aminimum account opening of $5k but citibank have a minimum of $10k and they are now offering MT4. How do they compare to Deutsche.
