It seems pointless me trying to post anything "Live" here as I am still experiencing these "Hand Moderated" delays.

So here is a repeat of the post in case you did not read it light years back (also seems pointless to repeat anything as well).

Yes- If you look on the re-test for supply- 30M stopping volume- clear sign pros are accummulating.

Hi Steve,

have been following the thread since the start but due to my hard drive going bang last week i lost all my demo platforms. so to save me re reading the whole thread and despite the fear of being banned i'm going to ask the following.

the zip attachment wont download properly from the 1st post (php), have looked through the attachments via the paper clip but cant see any zip file and dont know which indys are in the zip file to download them seperately...

sorry to be a pain and many thanks in advance

As I understand it, this PHP problem only occurs if you use IE as your browser - someone will correct me here if I am wrong.

If you need to download a lot of stuff, maybe better to run a copy of FireFox, which does not seem to have this problem ... ?

We all know how crap it is to lose hours of work because of hardware failure ...

Saw it, read it, thought about it briefly, forgot about it. When I ignore something like this, this is usually what happened. There is only one of me and I am trying to do quite a lot of things, so people have to nag sometimes.

This is a nice bit of bug-spotting. It probably isn't doing any harm but still good to get it cleared up. Thanks for nagging, especially with that moderating thing. I have been the victim of this in a music forum and it is a real pain in the neck.

V2 with this bug subjected to insecticide is in post 1.

I agree. It looks very useful in helping trade the basket manually. I searched the forum and the posts but I can't find any mention of you posting the indicator. If I didn't just miss it somehow, are you considering posting it? I'm very interested in exploring it as a BOJ spotter for trading the basket manually.

Hi I was waiting for an answer from Steve to see if it would be alright for me to post it. He said that would be fine, so I will now. I have also written up a Doc to explain how to install and use it. I have not figured out how to access the properties of the chart with Mq4 language and it actually may not be possible., but I have been able to use this by scaling the chart manually and I explain the simple procedure in the Doc. If someone does know how to access the scaling features of a chart, (F8 functions) I would like to here about it. Or if they have any ideas about how to create a scaling feature, I can send them the code.

I removed V2 and replaced it with v2.1 so there is only one version out there.

Be careful with tick volume though. While it can show every transaction it is a bit deceiving because most of the time when there is a large order in balance, there will be LITTLE volume. The reason is because if you have a huge number of institutional buy orders (Demand) at a given price like say 147 for the GBPJPY and a very small number of institutional sell orders (Supply) at that price, price will move very quickly away to the upside from 147 the moment all of the sell orders orders are filled and if the sell stack is small, there will not be much tick volume there, because all of the orders were not filled. We know this for sure, because price shot away from that level the moment the sells (which were few ) were gone and moved higher increasing the imbalance. See the problem here is that tick volume is just each transaction and does not show the individual size of each transaction.

To say that large tick volume is an indication of large Demand or Supply is not accurate, because by definition those buys could not be satisfied with the small volume of trades that took place at that level, thus causing price to shoot away to the upside. The faster price moved to the upside the greater the Demand that was left behind at that level. And eventually the market will come back to scoop up that demand that is just sitting there waiting. Never, but never be the seller into demand and never buy after price has moved away from that demand. That is the definition of gambling. and very low probability trading. Almost always Demand is large Order Flow and guess who makes the Large Order Flow and who very seldom loses. I sure wouldn't want to take the other side of a trade from an institutional order. I would rather be on the same side of that trade.

EDIT:

I guess what I am saying is that volume of any kind is really not needed at all, because you can see the order flow in the way price stalls and how long it stays stalled and how fast and sharp it moves away. The direction of the move away tells whether it is Supply or Demand. At least this has always worked well for me anyway.

Yes, There is some good info on the VSA thread on this forum.

The stopping (absorption) volume is bar closing in the middle on higher volume than the previous 2 bars. It is also occurring in a previous area of supply. This can also be "hidden across" two bars as well- I'm not near mt4 atm - but there is plenty of info in the VSA thread.

One key thing to VSA is look at the volume and spread during major news announcements -this when the shakeouts/ distribution and accumulation by the pro's is most evident. I found that looking at the previous week helps alot - if you can recognize the dist/acm set-ups- This allows me to set my EA to short only or long only with more confidence.

I primarily trade manual -this thread (and my own life pressures) has "revived" my interest in EA's though- as it contains alot of things that are similar to my own strategies- (basket trading and hedging) and I 'm always looking to add a good tool to my tool box.

Scooby help put the finger on something I suppose I always noticed but couldn't explain (The JPY sell offs during gap time) - Hence I no longer consider going long GY during late US session or before Asia...LOL...

I had forgotten about this. I added a volume display but didn't do anything about the filter. This is really just a note to myself to remind myself to do something about it.

You have a strong understanding of PA- For slow and people like me volume helps teach me this.

FWIW: To me it looks like GU is still in a distribution phase from last week so I didn't consider a long in GY.
