What Should I Do?

Hello Everybody, seeking some advice.

My Forex strategy has been earning me good income for quiet sometime. What I need to know is what should I do next with it? Should I sell signals? Trade for other people? Start my own investment firm?

Is it a good idea to turn this into a full time forex business? Currently I trade alone and although I make good money; I've begun to feel bored and kinda lonely. It doesn't excite me anymore. Selling signals seem like a good idea though. If I know other people are depending upon me, it might bring back the excitement I used to feel when I started trading forex 6 years ago.

I guess it comes down to what makes you happy. Is trading itself something you enjoy doing day-in, day-out, what about it do you enjoy? (e.g. financial security and freedom, intellectual stimulation, taking risk, challenge.).

What has been a huge help to me, and i consider myself quite fortunate is that I share office space with a few other guys all doing a similar kind of trading business...primarily trading their own funds. We keep each other company and its good to have others to run your ideas over with. Its reminds me of being on the trading desk -- but just more relaxed. We're lucky enough to find a place with a gym and a pool, helps take the edge off. You also get to celebrate achievements together and "office trips" become an excellent reason to take a fun trip away from the wives and gf's .

To me it sounds like you're missing the human interaction side of things -- selling signals, investment firm might provide that for you, but it'll come along with its own frustrations and problems...mostly cause it becomes a trader-client relationship, and some clients are impossible to please.

A friend of mine does some mentoring which i think he gets a lot of satisfaction from. You could try that.

Or -- maybe you just need a break. Take off 4 or 6 months. Square off your position, and just take a break. Learn something new, language - cooking - music. I have a senior friend in this industry who i regard with much respect who subscribes to this "taking a break".

Why bother with establishing a signal business (or any other business) if you can earn huge money just by trading Forex?

Trading is not about excitement... although you should love your job (yes it is just that, a job), it's more like a happy and peaceful marriage (with usual ups and downs) than a sexy adventure.

Trading is about making money, and maybe saving enough to be able to realize much more exciting ventures...

Be happy about that boredom! It is a sign that you're finally on your way to consistency. I went through this feeling at the beginning of the year, when everything (or almost) finally clicked together, ending a former endless quest for "Da System". I was really worried because I suddenly had no interest in watching charts or opening trades, like "ok that's all there is, what else?".
Fortunately it is only a period of transition, and a few months later I am still here, trading as always, but with a much more relaxed attitude, and with the sole concern of doing the best that I can what I have to do in this everyday job, and then, living a little bit more the "real" life...

I don't know if you trade a single pair of currencies or several of them. Should it be the case, try changing for a while, and master a new pair. They all have their own personality and I find it very interesting to spot the differences. And above all, beware of "contentment" (that is, when you think you've mastered all that you needed to and that it is going to continue that way for ever and ever...). This is usually the very moment when one risks more to slip over the details.

Trading is a craft. Refine and polish it till it brightly shines!

That's normal, it's the anti-climax of success, many competitive sportsmen who reach the top of their game experience similar feelings.

I find the markets fascinating, there's always something new to learn, that's what has kept my interest alive. If that doesn't float your boat then use them as a means to an end to finance things which you do find exciting!

Alternatively you could try your hand at fund managing, or maybe have a go at developing an automated system, or maybe mentor a struggling trader on a one-2-one basis.......there are lots of things you can do when you think about it, take advantage of the freedom trading offers, use your imagination!
