Hi Bob,

I think gangsta took my rules and just adjusted the SL/TP rules.

To reiterate;

Box is 1200-1400 GMT on a M30 chart. There are 5 candles in the box, the last one ending at 1430 GMT. From there it has 3 hrs to qualify.

Throughout the 3 hr window to qualify, I monitor the slope on a H1 chart. These are set to 25,3,0 and 50,3,0. I need BOTH to align before entering a trade.

I am currently using 50/50 SL-TP for EJ, GU and EU. However, I do think 30SL for EU can be more profitable. I am monitoring it and I'll make a proper decision at the end of the month.

I wanna ask :
If I using this system :
NY BOX = as usual time , 1100 to 1330 GMT ( 5 candles of 30 M )
Trade only In GBP/USD.
Trade With Out using any indicator,
Trade only break out ( may be 10 pip?, or 1 pip . or 15 pip . Or you can give sugesstion ) Lets say ; 10 pips Break (+buffer)
MY Take Profit = lets say 50 pip
Stop loss = 100 pip or if break up or lower box,

Do you think its profitable ?

If not, may be using system :

After breaking the box, price corection to -20 of the Upper or lower then enter market , If no corection No Trade..

Tp = 70 pip
SL = -100 pip or break other side box .

What do you think?

Hm, that modified indicator sounds interesting. However, GBP/USD was a complete fail this morning.

Ok, let us know then. However, 30 SL can stop us out..., hm I don't know.
Btw. everyday I'm experiencing the thing I started to call imploding or reverse breakout...

Almost everytime my orders are hit I'm struggling the first hours with 30+ red pips. I think that this should be more examined, because this looks to me as a stressless and fastest way how to gain the pips in comparison with the endless waiting for the "breakout pips." However, I'm afraid of the general cusedness of things, that as soon as I start to practice it, the breakout will go the straight-forward way.

Any volunteer to try it? :-)

Hi Koco,

Following my rules for GBP USD you would have reached a profit of 30 pips and then been stopped out at breakeven. Please see post 2004. My back tested showed that during October the 7.00am to 7.15am bar quite often produced a spike down or up (just below the prior highs or lows) that reversed quite strongly before continuing down as per this morning

Hi Gansta or anybody using small SL,

By doing some EA backtesting I tried to find out how you guys can have good results which such a small SL (15) .

The following two pics show the backtest of GU for 2009 with
SL 15, TP 75, BE 30, 12pm-2pm GMT, 20 buffer

The first one without, the second with checking slope direction.

Not so nice..

Now this is what worked with the EA for me:

SL size of box, TP 700, BE 125, 11am-2pm GMT, 20 buffer

Did you strictly follow the rules like a simple EA would do it, e.g. go long when price is 1 pip above buffer when slope points up or did you use discretion or did you wait for a pullback before entering the trade ?

the EA of above settings, just to make it easy for you to test timing, number of back bars, your stoploss and profit, are just for testing what in your mind.
but for real EA that makes profit use any of these 2
fixed stoploss at top and bottom of box, and fixed profit (75 to 85 pips), with 7 barsback, settings are for 5 digits brokers.
Ofcourse there will be days that have losses, and days with no trades.

Getting pretty good results with Anthony's EA..profit factor of 2.21 so far with 50/50 SL TP.

0.8945 @ EUR/GPB --> SELL
Closed @ 0.8929 --> Profit: 16 pips

90.15 @ USD/JPY --> SELL
Closed @ 89.85 --> Profit: 30 pips

Hi Anthony,

When setting TP and SL, it's returning same profit levels even when reducing SL to 10 pips. It's as if it's not recognising the change in parameters. Any thoughts?

right, you will get same results.
as written above, the SL and TP are fixed settings in EA.
only can be changed inside coding.
to change the SL and TP , use the other EA named AnthonyM_ea_gangsta.

Using backtesting, it's only providing a very small amt of trades.

Read the first post then read the last few pages of here and you'll see an adaption of the first page using an indicator called slope.
