Seems like a hangover day, after the huge 200points rally yesterday. Bovespa also went up fast. Crack of 67k puts new year's high. After taht, all-time-high 72k comes into play.

It will be crazy to see an all-time high barely a year after that big crisis...

I was wondering... <PUFF><PUFF>

This weekend, during the investment class, I was wondering how remarkable world we live in and barely notice. Particularly about investments, incredible tools are developed in a daily basis that actually make it possible to earn a living from the financial markets...

Maybe not for now. Maybe not with the kind of money we (or at least I) have, that makes it impossible.

I see my father at 68 years old still working his ass off, despite the amount of money he has saved, but with the old mentality of "working my ass off to make a buck".

With a few classes and a few principles and safe strategies he could meka a buck from his balcony in front of the Rio de Janeiro's shore. But yet, he wakes up at 5am to catch a bus and consult for Petrobras.

He makes serious cash, don't get me wrong. The SOB is rich. But yet, wakes up a 5am to catch a bus with 68 years old. If somebody offers me serious cash to wake up at 5am to catch a bus I go "screw it". And I'm 36.

Aaaaanywho...

We - young fellas - have the opportunity and the health to work hard for the next - say 10 or 15 years - make serious cash while learning and practicing the financial markets (for 10 or 15 years!!!) and arrive at our 50ies with the chance to make a buck in front of the sea for the other next 40 years (minus the booze damage).

Ain't that - or shouldn't it be - our long term goal? I mean.. <PUFF><PUFF> seriously?

cesar, your dad is old school. get a job, work there for 40-50 years, retire with a gold watch and live off of your pension and your savings, whatever is left, pass on to your kids. he is an early baby boomer. the late ones started to realize all the wealth they could get if they invested more, learned the system. each generation has picked up on that and made more knowledge available for every body else. now that everybody lives alot longer, it costs more, alot more to have a nice retirement. too many people are in a hurry to get rich today, i was one of them, and don't know how to build wealth. the only problem with all of the "diversify" mantra out there, i don't think the average joe can understand all of the available info to do it right. i have my path set. make good money in forex, then move to commodities and futures, then stocks and bonds. no real estate, too many issues, not worth all the hassle. a woman i can deal with, not real estate!!

There was nothing wrong with that 30 years ago. The problem is that he lived a R$ 8,000 / month life, expecting to get a R$ 8,000 / month retirement, but his governmental retirement gives him R$ 2.500 / month. So a 68 y.o hard working man in Brazil cannot rest. He just can't.

And I tell you more, we must seriously consider that our governments won't be able to pay for our retirements at all. Social security is going to the drains, what will be of them like 30 or 40 years from now?
