Throught back tesing using MetaTrader4 I have lost alot of disk space. Does anyone know how this can be retrieved? Deleting history and log files from the MetaTrader folder has not done anything.

Actually forward trading the 12 -2pm (GMT) pairs has been very good this past week. Since I do not trust back tests I will continue to trade live and note the results for a while. DMZ has a potentially great system here for the methodical and patient trader so thanks a lot for your hard work and thanks to those who continue his work

The only thing I'd say about using default settings on slope is that it's pretty slow to react to a change in direction.

The idea behind using 2 slopes is to show a quicker trend and also a more overall trend. Using both to agree is a big advantage imo.

I've yet to the EA posted by Anthony but it sounds very cool. Looking forward to testing it tomorrow.

I use the ea and it's interesting, but it disappears the mm (risk/reward 1.5). so I think it's more interesting to find the very breakout with little sl and large tp.

I manually backtested the "BigDog Breakout System" last week with a number of different Money Management options, aiming for the solution with the least number of losses. The results were very good. I do believe that a small SL and high TP with pending orders above and below the box (using a buffer - m30 timeframe) would be profitable in the long run.

1-in backtester> journal>clear all journals (lot of GB stored there). will be fixed.
2-the stoploss of the AnthonyM_EA is fixed at lower and upper line of the breakout box.
3-for takeprofit is fixed in conditional closing of opened trade., you can change it
if(OrderType()==OP_BUY)

{ if ( Bid>(OrderOpenPrice()+750*Point)|| Hour()==13 )
OrderClose(OrderTicket(),OrderLots(),Bid,3); break;

if(OrderType()==OP_SELL)

{if ( Ask<(OrderOpenPrice()-750*Point) ||Hour()==13)
OrderClose(OrderTicket(),OrderLots(),Ask,3); break;
4- you have the other EA by your name to test with stoploss , take profit,bars, and time,..........

i don't have idea about it, if you explain in details what to do, (better than i read 100 page to look for it), i will try if can do, cannot promise

No worries about adding the slope Anthony, I have had good results backtesting with your EA set at it's default values. Of course forward testing will provide a more accurate portrayal of performance. Thanks for your efforts. Do you trade the breakout in the same vain as your EA's settings?

For those interested, the EA performs best in back testing on the GU. Which makes sense due to the nature of this strategy. In addition, back testing shows profitable gains on UCAD, AUSD, EJ and the GBPJPY.

Believe me, i am as dissapointed as you after the effort and positive results that went into back testing. BUT, thats the way it goes. I am still plugging away at finding a risk:reward ratio close to the one first proposed. I will share all my progress.

i am new to Forex, since 2 months or 3, i start reading on websites, forums, and still learning to code easy things, i downloaded several brokers terminals, to see which suits better, i found 5 digits brokers better than 4, but i will start in near future, still to find safe strategy to start with, need some time more,,,,,

This Ea is for you also(just i am trying some ideas)
it takes profit at 1.00 and breakeven at 0.618 according to Fibonacci, try it. (more profit than fixed amount).
this EA as i tested is best only for GBP/USD

can you post the ea backtest with your first original settings (tp75 sl15 and be 30), please? it's in half only one pair.
because I try to cange the sl and tp but did't change the results compare with the setting ea. (antony ea)

Hola Chico ;-)

This is a little "off the record" and could probably be a whole new thread, but, if you are looking for a breakout strategy with small SL and large TP then try this.

Download the attached indicators.
Attach to m30 chart (GU, EU, EJ or GBPJPY best pairs)
Set the i-ParamonWorkTime to a buisy market peroid, E.g London Session.
Load the S & R indi.
Now set buy orders and sell orders above support and resistance.
Use a TP of 50 and SL of 15. (The type of risk:reward it seems yo uare looking for).
A breakeven of 25 would prevent a few extra loses.
You will get alot more losers than winners if you do not filter your trades (By using CCI, Stochastics, EMA etc etc) but your winners will be bigger and will leave you in profit overall.
Let me know how you get on if you bother trying it.

*NB* Sorry if this post is off topic but felt some other traders here may benefit. Support and resistance is an important aspect of the breakout strategy imo.

But I dont' really understand why you leave the 75-15 pips strategy if the backtests was so wonderful.

Hey guys. What do you think about a
password-protected Webpage where Users can post days legal Orders for the Breakout-System...
So anyone can see (if registered) trades from last days or weeks(like a Backtest) and anyone can compare the postet signals
with their own.

I prefer the strategy from gangsta1 in both market situations (London, USA)...

I would set it up If there is interest...

Please let me know it

Im not leaving the strategy. I will be trying it with the TP75 & SL15 on a seperate demo account. Im confident it will still reap results.
